25.01.2022 S W I T C H I T U P. When it comes to exercise, many of us are creatures of habit. We head for the same class at the gym or run the same route every time we lace up our sneakers. Sure, regular exercise is good for us, but its also important to vary your fitness routine. . Your body and brain will reap benefits when you try new activities . It prevents boredom and also ensures we keep burning calories as our bodies works harder adjusting to the new activity! ... . 24.01.2022 R E A L T A L K OK mums... lets talk about the biggest torture of parenting... sleep deprivation! . Some parents have babies that apparently sleep amazing from the get go, others have babies that know what to do after a few weeks... or in my case.. some have babies that still had no idea how to sleep through the night at 6 months! . And by sleeping through the night I dont mean one wake/feed after 12 or only a dream feed at 11pm or co-sleeping... I mean aslee...p in a cot ALL night with no wakes. . I was doing everything: pitch black room, white noise, dont feed or rock to sleep, feed / play / sleep, correct temperature, dont wind down before bed, put down awake and correct awake windows! TICK TICK TICK. . But darling B was still waking for 1-2 night feeds with an occasional third wake.. because 2am is also a fun time to wake up. She just couldnt self settle when she would wake during the night. . So when we reached 6 1/2 months, knowing she is at a healthy weight, and only feeding for comfort and habit at night.. I decided the night time partying had to end! . Time to stop those night wakes and feeds! I knew the first few days would be tough (with tea and Panadol my best friends at 1am to keep me calm, and the odd wine before bed!) But I had to remind myself that crying is ok.. she is learning! I tried to approach it as a little project. It was honestly fascinated watching her! I was also realistic knowing it wouldnt happen over night. And after five nights... the nights are now quiet! I may still be programmed to wake after 6 months of broken sleep and still in need of my morning coffee.. but Im definitely feeling human again. . No baby is the same and one sleep program wont work for every baby. I took the tips and tricks I liked for B from a bunch of amazing sleep specialists, guidance from my amazing mumma friends and most importantly went with MY GUT INSTINCT! . So to all mums out there dreading when night shift is about to begin.. youre not alone. I felt that anxiety for the first 4 months!! My hot tip is to test and try methods youre comfortable with and go with your gut feeling! You know your bubba best. #yaforsleep See more

11.01.2022 S U P P O R T. Some weeks we need to lean on others. Use the help, support and encouragement! . Last Thursday I had my worst nightmare come true... Blakely rolled off the bed and hit her head on the floor boards. Within a split second my whole world felt like it had come crushing down. Two sounds that I kept playing over.. the big bang of her head and the scream that followed! I rushed B to Fiona Stanley to ensure she was ok (after my amazing girlfriends told me where to go w...ithin a split second of my messaging them!) and I cant fault the place. Fast, efficient, friendly and with no judgement on a first time mum being a nervous wreck. I had no idea how common it is for babies to fall... I honestly felt like the worst mum in the world and all the emotions of the fertility treatment I went through to get my angel came back. . Thankfully all was ok. B loved her excursion to emergency, smiling at all the nurses and loving all the attention. I think I was the one that needed my heart rate monitored!! . Seeing these three girls the following day (whilst B was getting very spoilt by her Nana) was just what I needed. Did I feel guilty? Absolutely not. My mental health is so important to ensure I can be the best mumma. These mums helped ease my anxiety and ensured I got an epic workout to release that unwanted energy and negative thoughts. . 07.01.2022 Exactly 12 months ago, we decided to keep the biggest secret! . After going through what I would describe as the hardest months of life.. with too many injections to count, horrendous side affects, a miscarriage and the moment I nearly gave up hope.... I was not going to wait to find out something I finally had control over. BUT the hubby has always wanted a surprise. SO..... I decided to find out the gender of my little tiny growing baby and keep it a secret from the wor...ld Even my obstetrician!! I was utterly shocked when I got the call ITS A GIRL as I was certain I would be a mum of boys. . Blakely and I had secret chats (when daddy wasnt listening!) for the 6 months to follow. Daddy only found out after Blakely was put on my chest on 19 Dec 2019 and was given a letter from his little girl telling him about our secret . Some friends were not surprised (knowing my very organised / planning personality), others were completely shocked I could keep a secret that long! . Now my little secret is 6 months old, my little bestie & joint at my hip! She is close to perfection (minus her sleeping at night ) & worth all the pain and tears waiting for her arrival . 07.01.2022 1 1 . 5 K M. And Im a red sweaty mess! The furtherest Ive run since my pregnancy and it felt FAB Im still BF little B, with broken nights so Im no where near as rested as pre mum life.. so it will be interesting to see how I pull up. . I went into the run just wanting to get to 10km but by 7km the legs felt great so I picked up the pace with 5min/ km splits and pushed to 11.5km. My favourite conditions for a run too . 06.01.2022 T H A T F E E L I N G when you’ve mapped out your weekly work and training schedule. . As a working mum and wife I now more then ever have to plan when I train otherwise the day is over and I’ve missed my window (plus I’m exhausted and grumpy. And no one likes being around grumpy Amanda!) . Sunday evening planning is back (with a glass of Chardy of course!) Mapping out baby sitters, hubby tag team times, work commitments , girls time , date time, mummy & B time and me... time. . I honestly feel energised for the week ahead and hold myself accountable to each training session as I know how good I feel after. Day was too busy, I’m too tired, I don’t have the energy, I’m too frustrated NO EXCUSES if anything it’s the best ‘reset or forget life button’ for 60 mins. . If you don’t already do it, try and allocate 30 minutes a week with your loved ones to sync diaries to ensure you both have time to yourself outside work and parent duties. As a result you will feel better, have more energy, be more organised, want to eat healthier, and there will be less high blood pressure in your house hold . Have you allocated at least 1 hr this week to YOU?? Doing something you love, that will make you feel amazing? I hope so! Have an extra long shower or bath, go to the gym or a run, do a home workout, head to the shops for a retail reward, get a massage, have a day nap when bubba sleeps (leave the washing!) or just wash your hair! . As a mum we dont all have loads of free time and some dont have loads of support, but even 10mins of you time can make you feel human again - and give you the energy and patience you need as a mum boss! #findwhatmakesyousmile

02.01.2022 6 MONTHS POSTNATAL | I may still be having broken nights but my body is feeling great! My current focus is strength training and rebuilding my muscle definition. 01.01.2022 Dont be fooled by this smile... the person to the right is absolutely cooked after being pushed hard this morning .. and all it took was 23min 45secs! . Ive always been a runner but since being out of action my speed hasnt returned like my overall fitness did... so today this guy was very happy to challenge his little sister to a 5km timed run!! I usually focus on distance.. but today it was speed. I managed to stick to the pace he set me (just), make it to ...the end and not pass out! . I definitely got a taste of my own medicine this morning but it felt good to change it up a bit! Keeps things exciting and it tests the body . Give something new a crack this weekend!
