25.01.2022 #repost @thehatmagazine pic taken at London Hat walk Ahh end of year reflections are the shiz right? I gotta say my fortieth trip round the sun was my best ever year! I kicked so many goals in my personal and professional life but the biggest one was learning to truly let go and not drag the pain of past around with me all.. the... time... This gave me a clear head and mind be present, look to the future and follow my dreams! Sounds corny right! But it’s true so Imma gonna... own it Next year I start chasing another big dream of mine where I begin studying a degree in psychology and counselling. I also recently returned to full time work as a paralegal (another job I love) and I’ve just started work on my last custom millinery order for the year. This will be my last bespoke order for the foreseeable future as I expect working full time and studying full time will be a lot! So in my rambling way I guess I’m trying to say, I’m not sure what Amanda Lyn will look like next year. I suspect even though I can’t take orders I won’t be able to help myself and I will still need to be producing some kind of creative output, I have a few ideas kicking around but we will see what bears fruit. Big thank you especially to my @millineryaustralia family. I love you guys so much thanks for all the laughs encouragement and support, it’s been wonderful getting to know so many of you and make memories I treasure To every one that follows me here and comments and likes my stuff, thanks so much for your encouragement. My stuff is quirky and a bit weird (like me) but if we were all the same, life would be pretty boring right! Mr Smith. My ride or die. You are the icing on the cake. Bffs forever. 21.01.2022 2020 is sure turning out to be a doozy am I right!!!?! I am thankful and grateful to have a stable job right now, but so many of my mates have seen their income vanish overnight! I’ve been wondering what I can do to help, so I’ve decided to not make any hats myself to sell this year and just promote the heck out of my mates that are full time milliners. Starting with the fabulous @rhmillinery How cute and snuggly are these baker boy caps! Perfect for hiding your hair missing the hairdresser whilst looking cool as hell!!! I’ve bought the red one wooooo hoooooo!!!! But there is still plenty of gorgeousness via her website! Or I’m sure she will be happy to custom make for you as well!

21.01.2022 Great mail day today! My hubby’s lovely Aunty had a friend with a male peacock going through his annual moult and gifted me these gorgeous feathers. Most of my backyard chickens are moulting too so I have been collecting my own homegrown feathers as well this year. I’ve been thinking a lot about my supplies, where they come from and if they align with my ethical values, so going forward I have decided to only use feathers in my work I have collected myself or can 100% verify have been naturally shed from well kept birds. Second picture is of my beautiful polish hens (about 5 months old) they are the sweetest most delightful birds each with their own unique personality and have fabulous headwear to boot.
