12.01.2022 Next phase of my story - Moving From Dump Truck Driver I used to be a hair dresser, many moons ago. I started at 15yrs old ... So 2.5 yrs into driving the dump truck and then bought a hairdressing salon In Dalby Qld Had not set foot in a salon for 13 yrs. It came with no staff. Beautiful high ceilings, dark polished boards- white and chrome. It was called Elite Hair Design. My daughters would come in with me at 7.45 am, to help me clean up before they started school. I had to learn how to foil hair (I only knew a tip cap)so the L’Oréal rep helped me out there. Did my first bleach in 13 yrs, while on the ph to L’Oréal, while the ladies hair was turning blue- he’s saying, it’s ok, it’s ok, do this, do that, mix this up, put this toner on, and so it began Oh, her hair was fine by the way Having the gift of the gab got me through to begin with. I had so much anxiety feeling like an imposter, but it gave me the fuel to get through my day. I was a good hairdresser yrs back, so you don’t forget, I banked on my skills, I banked on me. I couldn’t tell the clients I was just driving a truck for 2.5 yrs. Oh and by the way, I haven’t done hair for 13 yrs They would have run away They all thought I had just come up from Melbourne. Flash city hairdresser Some of the men from the coal mine would come in for hair cuts, and say Can you come back and teach some of them how to back the trucks Me, um, pardon, say that again After a few few mths, I got some staff and had a great time. I had it for just under 3 yrs and moved back to Melbourne....... sorry pics are not great #strongwoman #doanything #singlemum #growthmindset #justdoit

03.01.2022 Hello everyone I’m going to turn my posts in a different direction while in lockdown. 2002 - I was a single mum. My kids were 6 & 9 I drove ( not flew) my kids to Qld. for a holiday. ... I came home, packed up and 6 weeks later, drove up again to live on a farm, in Dalby, where my sister lived. My job was a Dump Truck Driver, at Wilkie Creek Coal mine. I drove this truck for 2.5 yrs . I also trained the men to drive them after a while ( my spatial awareness is pretty damm good). They hated it Yes hard hat, steel caps and diesel fuel every day. I smelt so nice So if you think you can’t, I say why the hell not, give whatever a go #strongwomen #doanything #singlemum #growth #growthmindset
