21.01.2022 To all those affected by MSA, PSP or CBD, I encourage you to attend this fantastic conference, hosted by Parkinson's Victoria. I'll be presenting to the Carer Stream on Self Care in Atypical Parkinson's. Tickets are still available at the door.

20.01.2022 Had a fabulous day raising awareness for Parkinson’s

19.01.2022 It’s often the simple things in life that bring so much joy

19.01.2022 This is a great article looking at the challenges of our second lock down period. Take care everyone

17.01.2022 Such an honour to be asked to present today alongside Prof Bas Bloem and my other amazing multi-disciplinary colleagues. Hearing the latest about Parkinson’s research also reinforced for me the huge international effort moving towards finding a cure for PD. It also validated that hope for the future is a very real and needed thing for all of us.

17.01.2022 In these uncertain times it can be helpful to name the feelings we are experiencing as grief and loss. This is a great read

15.01.2022 To my valued clients, I just wanted to let you know what I'll be doing in terms of a response to the current situation we are all facing with coronavirus (COVID-19). Given that the nature of the work I do is with people diagnosed with Parkinson's or whom have chronic illnesses, I think it's prudent to offer online/phone options rather than face to face sessions at present. There is also an extra level of physical vulnerability to illness experienced by people living with... chronic conditions, therefore making people come in for appointments feels like an unnecessary level of risk in this current climate. Appointments will remain at the same time, however will occur either via face time, skype, or telephone. Cancellations will incur no cancellation fee. If you'd like more information please visit https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea Hope everyone is well and safe,

15.01.2022 There's no better time to reflect on what we can do about what's going on around us than now to Macleod Wellness Centre "Let’s put our energy i...nto the things that we can control instead of focussing on the things that we cannot change. Maintaining self-care, keeping a positive mindset, enjoying time with loved ones and establishing a routine even whilst at home are all things we can do that will help us get through this challenging time. Putting all our focus on the things that we cannot change will leave us feeling defeated and emotionally drained. It’s up to us to choose where we direct our energy. Remember we are all in this together " See more

14.01.2022 For those that may not have known, the medical cooling concession is available to people living with Parkinson’s

11.01.2022 Some potentially very disconcerting developments: 1. #COVID19 is clearly also a neurotropic virus, affecting the brain. 2. Hyposmia (reduced smell) is a sign of... both COVID19 and #Parkinson disease. 3. Previous viral infections (such as the Spanish flu) caused secondary parkinsonism. 4. The first case reports are emerging with parkinsonism appearing within weeks after an active COVID19 infection (https://www.thelancet.com//PIIS1474-4422(20)30305/fulltext); although in this case report, a causal relationship could not be established with certainty, it was suggested by the close temporal relationship between parkinsonism appearing after the preceding COVID19 infection, as well as the absence of genetic risk factors for Parkinson's and the absence of any prodromal symptoms prior to the infection. A provocative recent paper in Journal of Parkinson's Disease (https://content.iospress.com//journal-of-parkins/jpd202211) warns for the possibility that Parkinson's disease, which is already the world's fastest-growing neurological condition, could grow even faster in the near future if the third wave of COVID19 would indeed include many new persons affected by parkinsonism. This alarming possibility already attracted the attention of ABC News (https://www.abc.net.au//covid-19-may-cause-parkin/12688384). See more

10.01.2022 A great research opportunity for those with PD during the pandemic

09.01.2022 Such an pleasure to be interviewed for RMITs new SW educational package looking at the benefits of field education and supervision

07.01.2022 The pandemic is making life so much more difficult than we ever could have expected. Don’t be afraid to reach out and seek support. Individuals with a mental health care plan from the GP can also access and addition 10 sessions this year due to covid

04.01.2022 A great quick reference for support over Christmas

03.01.2022 In the midst of so much sadness and grief, this is a great article outlining how to support those affected around us.

02.01.2022 Grief is an ongoing and unavoidable part of life. This is such a beautiful reflection on it....

01.01.2022 Huge thanks to the team at Parkinson’s Victoria for inviting me to speak with such a wonderful and inspiring group of people affected by Atypical Parkinson’s. I feel really privileged to have had the opportunity to share my thoughts around working with people in this space, and sharing strategies around what can help. A brilliant day!
