22.01.2022 Last night's Yarra Planning Decisions Committee saw one of the first of inevitable development applications along Alexandra Parade in the wake of land sales following the disastrous East West Link acquisitions. The 3 Hilton St proposal was approved with significant height reductions but it's clear we need stronger planning controls along Alexandra Parade to guide its future development and protect the low-rise residential precincts to the north and south.

20.01.2022 The majority of Nicholls Ward is covered by a heritage overlay. So heritage protection is a high priority for residents, many businesses and visitors to some of Melbourne's oldest suburbs. And for me! Here's what candidates had to say for the National Trust survey: https://www.trustadvocate.org.au/candidates-for-yarra-city-

20.01.2022 Housing is a basic human right. Yet successive state governments have failed to invest in good public housing to meet a growing need. Friends of Public Housing have been pushing for greater transparency around investment in housing and an expansion of public housing across Victoria. I support their campaign wholeheartedly.

20.01.2022 Thanks to Yarra's wonderful resident groups for organising this Zoom/Youtube online Town Hall Meeting for Monday the 23rd of November at 7:30pm to guide your input to the new Planning Scheme.

19.01.2022 One of the biggest frustrations for many of us in lockdown has been the closure of Yarra's Depot and Recycling Centre. It's open again! Don't forget your masks, and be prepared for a bit of a wait as everyone catches up with pent up demand.

18.01.2022 We've posted our ballots! You have until 6pm tomorrow to post yours. Wanting to vote Green? greens.org.au/vic/lga/yarra

16.01.2022 Safer streets make liveable neighbourhoods. Let's make our streets open for everyone. Yarra Greens Transport Policy is right here: greens.org.au/vic/lga/yarra

16.01.2022 Congratulations to our new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. And to all our Councillors sworn in tonight. We have an enormous job ahead of us, building a stronger community, a sustainable economy and a climate safe future. I am really looking forward to the next 4 years delivering for Yarra.

13.01.2022 Well done Yarra's Sustainability Team! National Climate Champions in the Cities Power Partnership Awards. But we knew that!

13.01.2022 Too many people haven't yet received their ballot so can't cast their own precious vote. If that's you, make sure you let the VEC Election Office know and record an "Attempt to Vote". They are taking calls today 9619 1476.

12.01.2022 How great is this fledgling garden? After several years of planning, the new community garden at Railway House is up and running with teams of volunteers planting, mulching and watering around the clock. Thanks to Leilani and the team for showing me around today and for the excellent community building work underway.

12.01.2022 Closing this Sunday! If you have a proposal for one of Yarra's Annual Grants or Investing in Community Grants, make sure you get your application in by Sunday. Check the website for guidelines first. https://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au//2021-annual-grants-and-i

12.01.2022 The Waste Revolution kicks off in Nicholls Ward next Monday! Recycling rates doubled in the Abbotsford Waste Revolution trial and I'm betting Nicholls residents will do even better! If you don't yet have your new glass bin, or tips on recycling, call 9205 5555 this week so you're ready to join the revolution.

11.01.2022 https://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au//council-meeting-16-novem The Ceremonial Meeting to elect the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and various Committee Members will be tomorrow, starting at 6.30pm. For the first time ever, this very special event will be online. Sadly we can't have the community, friends and family join the usual end- of-year celebrations for the council year.... So please join us online to kick off a new council term, which I hope will be characterised by good governance in the interests of the whole Yarra community.

10.01.2022 When you vote Green, this is what you get! Make sure your ballot is in the post by 6pm Friday. https://www.facebook.com/YarraGreens/videos/2809706872620034

09.01.2022 It’s an honour and a responsibility to be elected as Nicholls Ward Councillor for 2020 -2024. Thankyou to the Yarra community for placing your trust in me and my 4 Greens colleagues to steer Yarra through the vital years of COVID recovery, addressing the climate emergency and planning for a sustainable and socially just city. I will honour that trust and work collaboratively with all councillors and the community in the best interests of Yarra citizens and our environment.

06.01.2022 Have you ever objected to a planning application? Or several? Then you will know the frustration when you meet a planning scheme roadblock. Yarra has rewritten our Planning Scheme. Here is your opportunity to have a say about the framework used to make those planning decisions. Submissions on Amendment C269 close on Friday 4th December. ... https://yarraplanningscheme.com.au/

01.01.2022 Beautiful work by young emerging artist Ky-ya Nicholson-Ward a Wurundjeri, Dja Wurrung and Nguarai Illam Wurrung woman, whose work features in Yarra's Aboriginal Lives Matter campaign. Yarra's iconic Bakehouse Studios on busy Hoddle St a perfect place to host this mural. Posters going up around Yarra very soon.

01.01.2022 Our plan for Yarra with new Greens elected! More details and our policies are here: greens.org.au/vic/lga/yarra
