25.01.2022 #CrazySocksforDocs day First rule of medicine - Primum non nocere - First do no harm Perhaps we need a second rule - Be a decent human being. ... - or perhaps that’s encompassed in the first rule....

25.01.2022 For anyone who may be interested...

24.01.2022 Thanks all, especially for the bin night fashion. Keep up the great work!

23.01.2022 Catchy and on point! Shout out to artists Mi-kaisha and Nooky who like many in the arts have been hit hard by covid but are now using their talents to spread the message. 1.5 Give me some Space https://youtu.be/jKeDY8EQkJM

23.01.2022 Follow their lead everyone! Time to #getvaxxed #covid19vaccine

23.01.2022 And that’s a wrap!! AMA federal council in the week before Christmas had an ambitious agenda but we had some great discussion on Covid vaccines, prevocational training, private insurance and much more. Thanks for the hard work all year across our AMA family

22.01.2022 One of the highlights of the AMA National Conference has always been the AMSA Presidents address. Sometimes we need these reminders. Here is a link to current AMSA President Jessica Yang’s address, reminding us not to forget the power of little actions.

20.01.2022 Well, Sydney, what a day it’s been!! Thank you to the northern beaches community who have turned out in droves for testing. For the rest of us, it’s time to be on high alert. Get tested for even the slightest symptoms. Mask up and wash your hands! Let’s find this cluster and lock it down!

20.01.2022 You don’t need to wait for a crisis...

18.01.2022 Every year we see new records being set in terms of emergency department presentations and hospital admissions. Every year it seems the level of acuity of emergency presentations gets higher and higher. As the Federal Election gets closer it’s time we demanded more from our politicians. We need to look at whole of system change in health and both major parties need to do more in this respect. It’s not just necessary to improve existing services. We also need to do much more in the area of preventative medicine to reduce demand and improve people’s quality of life, improve the links between various parts of the system to provide better continuity of care, and invest strongly in quality general practice.

17.01.2022 Thank you to all my colleagues in General Practice. Your hard work and comprehensive care of patients is so valuable. You are the cornerstone of our health system. In these challenging times, an extra thank you!! Happy world family doctor day

16.01.2022 The #examcluster mess of an RACGP exam this week is distressing. I've heard from many registrars giving personal accounts of how its affected them. We understand RACGP has apologised but they need a clear plan to remedy, and SOON! This plan needs to include a refund, free resit and clear contingency planning. In the meantime - to those affected, reach out for support if needed and try to enjoy a day or two of sunshine.

13.01.2022 Today I met with NSW Health and RACGP about the COVID vaccine rollout. This little critter joined me and provided valuable input! #quokka #workfromanywhere

12.01.2022 Why do we do what we do? All organisations need a purpose. This is part of what we measure, but more importantly - who we are. Health systems have aspired to achieving the triple aim, of improving patient experience, improving population health outcomes and sustainable cost, as described by Berwick in 2008. In 2014, Bodenheimer and Sinsky described a fourth aim - improving provider satisfaction, because it was clear that you could not achieve the first three aims without hav...ing an engaged workforce. This sounds like a good starting point for any health organisation. https://qualitysafety.bmj.com/content/24/10/608

12.01.2022 Remember to be respectful. And those over 18 should strongly consider an AZ vaccine! We’ve got plenty!

11.01.2022 No surprises here - longer waits for ED and surgery...And this was before COVID! When will governments realize that hospitals need more staff and more funding, private health insurance needs to be appealing, and that GPs need funding to prevent spiraling hospital demand https://ama.com.au/ama-public-hospital-report-card-2020

10.01.2022 Vale Dr Harry Nespolon. A true leader and advocate for general practice education, primary care, and the health of all Australians. We owe him a great deal of thanks. Gone too soon and will be sorely missed . May he Rest In Peace

10.01.2022 Only 3 new cases today...well done NSW! But let’s not take our eye off the ball now. Let’s get this down to zero and keep it there for a couple of weeks before we breathe a sigh of relief. We can do it!! #physicaldistancing #covid19australia

10.01.2022 This came to me from one of our NSW Registrars. She gives us a face and a story to really show how an exam has an impact on whole families and communities, especially this year. #examcluster

09.01.2022 This year RUOK Day is all the more important given the stress we’re all under. Ask, and listen to the answer. It’s OK not to be OK. Talk to your GP. We’re here for you (even in yellow to remind us all to ask!)

07.01.2022 Well said, Luke! #werebetterthanthat https://youtube.com/watch?v=2qROBi0orWU&feature=share

07.01.2022 Health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by 2032 takes action. #MoreThanAWord #NRW2021

06.01.2022 Doctors in Training have been keeping families cared for throughout this pandemic (at risk to their own). Even pre-COVID, strain on the healthcare system has been rising, and yet their wages have been capped. The public sector wage freeze is another kick in the guts to these frontline workers

04.01.2022 Hmmmm decisions, decisions...! Don’t forget your crazy socks tomorrow!! #crazysocks4docs

03.01.2022 Indecision reigned supreme and I went with both!! #crazysocks4docs #doctorsmentalhealthmatters

03.01.2022 And today I was the grinch who stole freedom day (otherwise known as the friendly reminder to take covid seriously) https://9now.nine.com.au//28a4e9a4-1b18-4d16-ac86-de6bc1ce

03.01.2022 Excited to be part of our road to recovery. Together, we can do this! #COVID19Aus

02.01.2022 Zooming from the car (parked of course) with NSW Health to discuss covid response, vaccine planning and bushfire response (not all covid!). But remember...#gettested

02.01.2022 Today marks a week of no local covid transmission in nsw! Woohooo!!!! have a great long weekend everyone - but remember to stay home and get tested if you feel at all unwell. Let’s not ruin our streak!!

02.01.2022 Today’s a trifecta!! 3 days of no local cases. And a decent number of tests. But it’s not over yet team. Keep testing NSW!! (And in the meantime celebrate a good streak and hopefully one step closer to borders opening!) https://twitter.com/nswhealth/status/1320153480326041602
