18.01.2022 I have been watching like I think everyone over the days the horrible situation in the US and in Australia around #blacklivesmatter. For those who say Australia is not Racist please think again. I married an African American/Jamaican from New York and he still lives here. Although, we are no longer together we are friends and will always be connected because we have an incredible child/young woman together. All three of us have experienced Racism here from me being told I’m... a Race Traitor and having Swastikas painted on my fence, to my ex being chased and threatened and to my daughter being called terrible racist names yep it happens here. My daughter struggled to find her identity for a very long time and just wanted to look like a white person complete with straight hair. For her now lining in LA and connecting with her African American family in New York she has found herself. And now she is living this situation in LA. So I ask you have you thought how you would feel if you were considered a minority and have to deal with racism and injustice constantly?. It hurts, it is upsetting, it is sometimes difficult to keep positive and have self worth. I have had many conversations over the years with people who just do not want to acknowledge it exists. We cannot change anything until we have open conversations and open our hearts in peace. Let’s all stop and listen to each other.
