24.01.2022 Beardies Blarney... Window Wonderland... A perennial museum challenge involves the many thousands of artefacts in storage, versus available display space. The... Beardies are constantly alert to solutions to this conundrum. Revealing their artistic creativity, three of our talented Beardies have turned some temporarily vacant Grey Street window space into public galleries, displaying items from our extensive stored collections. With many thanks to our volunteer window-dressers supreme: Ruth Sim Brummell, Pam Grimes & Trudie Gough. The next time you find yourself in uptown Glen, check out the windows directly opposite the Town Hall. See more

20.01.2022 Meet Kylie and Grant Kneipp from Insignia Company Kylie and Grant have been successful in disrupting the marketing merchandise industry. The Insignia Co brand ...is bold and innovative but the story behind this successful business startup is what makes Insignia Co unique. My husband and I are from Dundee in northern New South Wales and have a Hereford and Speckle Park Stud. With the drought heavily impacting our area in 2019-2020, we needed to find a form of off-farm income to help pay for feed and water for our core stud breeding herd. We have been quite successful in developing a brand identity for our studs and we decided to play to our strengths and start a business in marketing merchandise ~Kylie Kneipp Since then, the company has grown rapidly. Grant and Kylie are on a mission to help small businesses market their brand and business through outstanding products and design services. Kylie and Grant are two of the most kind and hard working people and we wish them all the best as they work towards their business goals. 19.01.2022 Today, September 7th is Alexander Stone Day, the 29th anniversary of the raising of the first Australian Standing Stone. Looking forward to the celebration from... 4:30pm at the Australian Standing Stones! The Alexander Stone is named for Peter Alexander, who originally conceived of the array as Australia's National Monument to the Celts, then convenor of the Celtic Council of Australia and head the efforts for the array and the selection of Glen Innes as their home. The Alexander Stone is the northern guardian of the entrance to the winter solstice avenue, looking inward to the central Gaelic, Australis and Brythonic Stones, such that the sun's dawn rays travel through the avenue to light up the central array on the shortest day of the year. 04.01.2022 Nymboida National Park Trek in the wilderness, canoe the rapids, explore the region’s history and camp in the pristine bush along Nymboida and Mann rivers at Ny...mboida National Park. If you want complete immersion in nature, Nymboida National Park gives you the chance to canoe the rapids on Nymboida and Mann rivers, 4WD into the wilderness, and camp in pristine bushland. You’ll be rewarded with views of the dramatic rock formations, excellent birdwatching opportunities, challenging white-waters, and an unbeatable feeling of being a long way from day-to-day life. Self-reliant hikers can bushwalk and camp, while those who like to take things at a more relaxed pace can lay back and watch the white-bellied sea eagles soaring above the river. This can all be done at the very pretty campground on the bank of the Nymboida. In summer, there’s nothing better than a swim in the cool, clear waters of the river. Pick a safe spot and revel in the tranquillity of this unspoilt place. For more information head to the National Parks website: https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au//nymboida-national-pa

03.01.2022 NEW ROOF FOR HISTORIC GLEN INNES SHOWGROUND PAVILION It’s wonderful to see the 128-year-old Glen Innes Showground Pavilion being made ‘new’ again. Thank...s to a $140,000 grant from the State Government, the faded, rusty and leaky roof on on of the gems of the heritage-listed showground is being replaced by local builder Justin Power. It was wonderful to tour round the showground with the dedicated Showground Trust members to look at several other projects underway and some of their next priorities which I am keen to help secure funding for. Without doubt, the Glen Innes Showground is the most picturesque and well-loved showground anywhere in country NSW!
