25.01.2022 Another of my "favourite places" in Egypt, the Temple of Seti 1st in Abydos. So plain from the outside, but inside, full of mystery and wonder with the most beautiful art work in all of Egypt. Seti must have been a man of great refinement, his temple reflects his nature, striving for perfection, as Perfection is the way to the Gods.

18.01.2022 More from the Coptic Museum in Old Coptic Cairo.

17.01.2022 The Winged Disk and the Goddess Nekhbet adorn a soaring Pylon at Medinet Habu. This is not the usual entrance, but some way around the corner from it, so unless you have time to wander about, it is generally never seen.

15.01.2022 Sunrise on Lake Nasser, from our cruise ship. Another gorgeous photo by Kp Rao.

15.01.2022 Today, being the 3rd Epagomenal Day of the Ancient Egyptian Calendar, is the birth of the God Set. If this is your birthday too, you may find life quite turbulent.

13.01.2022 There is nothing quite like opening the curtains of your cabin window and seeing a wonderful Luxor early morning.

12.01.2022 Today, 25th of March, (XV11Day of the month of Ermouthi) is the Feast of the Divine Birth of Horus. The feast will last for 20 Days. So all of you who are irresistibly drawn to Horus, make merry, this time is perfect for you.

11.01.2022 This is wonderful. The soul flies away from its tomb.

09.01.2022 Today, being the second of the Epagomenal Days of the Ancient Egyptian Calendar, is the Birth of Horus the Elder. Photo my own, taken at Kom Ombo Temple.

04.01.2022 When is it the best time to visit the temple of Isis? When no one else is there and you have the whole place to yourself!

04.01.2022 It is only small, not grand or imposing, but there is something special about the Workers Village at Deir El Medina. Here is where the workmen and their families lived, the very men who built the grand and imposing tombs in the Valley of the Kings. It is always hot here, bright, hot and dusty and it must have been exactly the same for them, so no surprise then that they very cleverly had their own form of refrigeration, water piped underneath the stones of the kitchen area to cool the food. Just walking around here and looking into the houses always makes me feel connected to the Ancient Egyptians, the ordinary, mostly nameless Ancient Egyptians who lived and worked and spent their whole lives in this spot.

03.01.2022 I was looking through some old photos and came across this one of myself in the Queens Chamber, many years ago when we were still allowed to take photos inside the great Pyramid.

01.01.2022 With my friend who takes me across the Nile to the Temple of Isis and faithfully waits for me to cross back again.

01.01.2022 Today, being the first of the 5 Epagomenal Days in the Ancient Egyptian calendar, is the Birth of Osiris. So, if this God is special to you, celebrate now.

01.01.2022 Happy Valentines Day
