25.01.2022 The latest to join us, this fella had his mum's belly stretched to the max. And she hung on and on and on...leaking milk for two days before finally delivering him yesterday. At 24 hrs old he's bigger than the last two calves that arrived that he's sharing a pen with and they're 2 weeks old! 7 down, 2 to go before the Spring onslaught of 50 more!

25.01.2022 As predicted, number 3 arrived safely!

22.01.2022 After eventually delivering her little daughter, Aster, Daisy finally made her first visit for milking in the dairy and has settled in nicely..

21.01.2022 Two naughty little piggies went on an adventure whilst we were in town. Amazing what a bucket of food will do tempt them back up the hill, out of the hay paddock, up past the house, past the yards, up the driveway and back to their pen. No wonder there was some puffing

20.01.2022 And pop she did! A lovely little girl this morning..

18.01.2022 One of the benefits of farming naturally is the free Autumn mushroom bounty... More than we can eat and hundreds more coming..

18.01.2022 Pizza dough by hand by the warm light of a vintage kerosene lamp, as the power goes out for the second time today and the 5th time this week! Is it any wonder people are going off grid. Imagine what the reliability will be like when there aren't enough people online to pay for it..

17.01.2022 Its been a busy morning for bubbies this morning with this little Devondale fella, hotly followed by a Jersey X and number three is on its way as i post this

17.01.2022 With the recent sunny weather, the girls have been laying up a storm and we have plenty of eggs available all weekend...

12.01.2022 Today's little surprise... having put all the expectant mums through the dairy at lunchtime today to check for any 'progress', Magda who is as wide as she is tall (all year round) plopped this little one out just 2 hours later with no sign of what she was going to do. Maybe i shouldn't have squeezed that last heifer in next to her after all...

12.01.2022 Can't believe I'm saying this, but thumbs up to Telstra for turning on our new mobile network tower. First time we've had full signal on the farm in 5 years! NBN, who knows, but at least we dont have to stand on the roof to make phone calls now..yay...

10.01.2022 The morning view from my office..

09.01.2022 Today's expensive drama.. cow surgery 101

08.01.2022 This is our Christmas day.. Half baled, pause for a quick bite then off to arvo milking before attacking the rest this evening...

07.01.2022 It's been a very busy week on farm. So much so that I didn't even get around to posting these updates... This little fella was just hanging around the dairy on a set of the cups so needed to relocate..

06.01.2022 Some day old calves travel in comfort....

06.01.2022 It's BAAACKKK... AMAZING bacon. THE best bacon we've ever tasted. Full credit to Jake @ #countrystylemeats who worked his magic on the recently departed 'Ophelia'. Short cut loin, streaky and forequarter cuts (for the clinically insane haters of bacon fat) #markcansdale take note for that nutty nephew of mine....

06.01.2022 Our latest news, we're getting ready to launch our buying club! For those not lucky enough to live in an area where you can buy grass fed beef, decent sausages and other produce direct from the people who grew it, we'll be taking orders from members of the buying club and delivering it to nominated host locations for collection on prearranged days at set times at the most monthly, possibly quarterly, depending on demand. If you're interested, have a look at the website page, use the contact form and let us know. We'll be looking for hosts on the Mornington Peninsula and Cranbourne South and possibly other locations between the farm and there. If you've read this and said 'buying what? ' look up Joel Salatin and or Polyface farms on Google or YouTube and edjamicate yaself !

06.01.2022 Everybody has their itchy "sweet spot"

04.01.2022 Is it still 'blowing your own trumpet' when the trumpet you're blowing is for someone blowing your trumpet for you? http://townandcountryfarmer.com.au/latest-issue/
