25.01.2022 Sign our petition for a town centre we can be proud of! Were you also disappointed to hear that the Morley Galleria upgrades were postponed indefinitely? Lisa Baker MLA and I are calling on the Galleria to keep their promise to our community! ... Growing up around Morley, I remember how much our town centre changed when the Morley Galleria first opened. It was a fantastic new facility in 1988, but has not been upgraded to meet the needs of our growing community in 2020. The McGowan Labor Government is committed to revitalising Morley by building the Morley-Ellenbrook Line and investing in our local schools and clubs. Now I’m calling on the owners of the Galleria to step up and move forward with the Galleria redevelopment. The planned major upgrades won’t just revitalise our town centre, they will also create much-needed jobs that will help our state’s economy recover from COVID-19. Sign our petition here: https://amberjadesanderson.com.au/galleria-petition/
24.01.2022 There’s a big demand for WA bricklayers at the moment so we’re introducing a new course to fast track West Aussies into quality local apprenticeships in our construction industry. WA’s building industry is booming thanks to the State Government’s $20,000 Building Bonus, with the stimulus generating a strong pipeline of construction work. The Bricklaying Job Ready program is a new short course at the Construction Futures Centre in Belmont, which will get students ready to... take on an apprenticeship, then give them the opportunity to start a bricklaying apprenticeship upon completion of the course. There are now open with 50 places available for the first intake that is scheduled to start on November 9, 2020. The course is free for certain concession-eligible students. For more info, visit https://www.jobsandskills.wa.gov.au/bricklayingpathways
23.01.2022 Ratings agency Moody’s has today affirmed our strong Budget management and economic response to COVID-19, with Western Australia retaining its strong credit rat...ing - Aa1 with a ‘stable’ outlook. Moody’s has credited WA’s ‘rapid’ economic recovery with the early easing of restrictions in the State, due to the State’s hard border, and a strong mining sector. Their assessment further highlights the importance of our decision to ensure the mining sector remained open throughout COVID restrictions. Western Australia’s credit rating was originally upgraded in June 2019, following multiple downgrades under the previous Liberal National Government. Our hard work to repair the finances has given the State the capacity to respond to COVID-19 and to redirect this to stimulating the Western Australian economy. Maintaining a credit rating of Aa1 during a pandemic is something all Western Australians can be proud of. By keeping our State safe and strong, Western Australia can recover from COVID-19, stronger than ever.

12.01.2022 The McGowan Labor Government will phase out single use plastics. This is a huge win for our environment! More info below ... Continuing to use single-use plastics at the rates that we have simply isn't sustainable. At best, they end up in landfill, where they will take thousands of years to break down. At worst, they pollute our parks, bush, rivers, lakes and oceans - causing real and lasting damage. We all know they are convenient, but in many cases there are existing or emergent alternatives which are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. So today, we're announcing our plan to reduce the use of single-use plastics in Western Australia. The Plan for Plastics will be rolled out in two stages. Legislation will be developed and implemented by 2023 for the state-wide phase-out of plastic plates, cutlery, stirrers, straws, thick plastic bags, polystyrene food containers and helium balloon releases. After these initial actions, the McGowan Labor Government will take action on plastic barrier/produce bags, plastic bunting, cotton buds with plastic shafts, polystyrene packaging, microbeads, and oxo-degradable plastics. We've already taken some important steps, such as banning single-use plastic bags a few years ago. It's never as hard to adjust as it might seem - and there are good alternatives already available for all of these products. More information about Western Australia’s Plan for Plastics can be found at www.dwer.wa.gov.au/single-use-plastic!

04.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the guns finally fell silent on one of the most senseless and destructive conflicts of human history. Today, we fall silent ourselves to remember those who did not come home from war. Lest we forget.

01.01.2022 Over the next four years, the WA Government is set to commence $27.1 billion of new infrastructure projects, including schools, hospitals, roads, rail, ports and more. To get those 1,430 projects done, we’re going to be creating a lot of jobs for local workers and businesses who will be given first priority under our WA Jobs Law. But we need those businesses and workers to be ready for those opportunities - so we’ve just launched the WA Pipeline of Work The Pipeline of Work tracks those upcoming projects and helps WA businesses know what they need to do to be ready to take up those contracts, well in advance. Find out more at https://www.wa.gov.au/pipeline-of-work
