25.01.2022 I’m 100% positive that the pigs appreciated her tulle skirt and flashing shoes that she specifically chose for sorting and loading pigs tonight. I better lift my game.

25.01.2022 I haven't been able to say this much this year, BUT, there is BACON available this week on the shop front over at Prom Coast Food Collective. Orders open until 4pm Monday. https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/prom-coast-food-co-op/shop

24.01.2022 Our shop has had its weekly update, there are a couple of large rolled shoulders (like the picture) available and the house favourite of loin racks, as well has a handful of other bits and pieces. Local and Metro delivery. You can shop here: ... https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/prom-coast-food-co-op/shop

24.01.2022 Little bit of Monday meditation from one of our creek crossings. This creek has changed a lot in just Dans lifetime when he would play near here as a kid. Although we are still lucky to find galaxia’s, spiny crayfish and other small water creatures. We are working to regenerate this area but finding it difficult to get enough understory established before native animals eat it or it’s washed away in annual flooding.

24.01.2022 Prom Country Farmers Market Is back on and we will be there with a selection of cuts and lots of small goods. Its been months since our last market, very excited to be there and running about trying to remember to bring everything!!

24.01.2022 In Day 2 of Fashions in the Field entrant Valerie is going for a combination of safety, style and fly prevention.

22.01.2022 Show me your compost!! How’s your pork packaging going down there with the worms?

21.01.2022 Hello! It’s been a little while since we’ve posted here. Mainly because life on the farm has felt a little like the chaos Val is creating here while helping me work. Things are coming together now and can’t wait to show you some of the projects that are finally coming to fruition.

20.01.2022 Dan speaks to Gerard from Gippslandscapes Podcast about our life on the farm and his connection to Amber Creek. https://podcdn.zencast.fm//e700cfb7-c722-40ec-8be3-ce5d07b

17.01.2022 The 112th Annual Foster Show is on today. Bring the kids and come on down!

17.01.2022 This is our set up for feeding our pigs. The tub on the front holds grain that has been soaked in whey and the trailer holds delicious vegetables! Weve come a long way from carrying buckets and pushing wheelbarrows around the farm. Thanks for sharing in the journey!

17.01.2022 Are you on this map? That means you can get our pork delivered to you! The shop is open via Prom Coast Food Collective and we have wonderful Christmassy roasting cuts, some chops for the BBQ, smallgoods for a sharing platter and more. https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/prom-coast-food-co-op/shop

16.01.2022 Looking across the cow paddock to the middle paddock and the Bee paddock that has just been mulched by Cath. Busy day on the tractor! Returning nutrients to the soil and getting ready for the pigs to graze.

16.01.2022 Just a girl, her pigs, the sunflowers, and a big blue March sky.

15.01.2022 Scenes from our Saturday. Fixing fencing isn’t such a struggle with a view like this and better than chasing pigs from where they shouldn’t be!

15.01.2022 See you soon Melbourne! Dan and Hazel fully loaded to drop salvaged cypress to Very Edible Gardens and Dome Building.

14.01.2022 Snacking on peas from our soil kee crop. High fertility areas are at head height and other areas are coming along more slowly. Looking forward to moving the pigs in soon.

14.01.2022 From the Garden/Paddocks: Mint, last season garlic, purple and green Pak Choy, rainbow chard, kale, spring onions, lettuce for wrapping and of course pork mince! From the fridge: carrots, ginger, capsicum, soy, sesame and fish sauces. ... Done! Easy weeknight meal that all of the family eats. That’s a win in my book!

14.01.2022 Walking into the weekend.... Morning greetings to our new House Cow and calf. Looking across to our pig breeders nestled under the trees and the next 40 piglets about to be weaned! ... Enjoy your weekend!

14.01.2022 I havent known what to say on this platform regarding COVID-19. What is there to say when people are losing jobs, getting sick, struggling with mental health from being isolated and the anxiety of not knowing whats going to happen and how long it will last for. Our pigs are blissfully unaware of the changes but they are noticing as the season changes, they are happily eating their way through the crops, wallowing on the few hot days we have gotten and are continuing to gro...w. We are supplying pork orders and will continue to do so. If youre looking for freezer fillers or just your normal order. Please be in touch, for most parts we can deliver to you or close to. Thank you.

13.01.2022 What a beautiful capture of our weaners from local artist @Anne Miller on a recent visit. Thank you Anne!

13.01.2022 Last week we held our first zoom farm tour that was hosted by Bass Coast Landcare Network and South Gippsland Landcare Network. 08.01.2022 Catching a quiet moment. In the words of Hazel I never want to leave the farm. (Guess who is enjoying isolation?!)

06.01.2022 Supporting our supporters... If you can, choose a special meal to celebrate your time at home this weekend with a Trulli Kitchen experience. Delivered. ... How are amazing are our hospitality friends who are making small business work by supporting other small businesses and keeping our regional towns vibrant and interesting places to live!?

06.01.2022 It’s not beautiful but it’s an important part of living near the on a farm, bush and lots of grass. Some bushfire preparation this afternoon mulching all the long grass near tracks and sheds and the house. Maintenance on the hoses and making sure that the fire fighting trailer is A-OK.

05.01.2022 What a day for dramatic skies! Pigs, dogs and kids all running for cover just as the storm hit.

04.01.2022 Keeping pigs on pasture is a labour intensive method of raising pigs. We are always looking at ways to evolve and improve our practises to make things easier and reduce some of the labour. This years project in the paddocks has been creating these slightly more permanent, environmental friendly posts. Prior to this we use tread ins but over time they break, the pigs chew them, and then they need to be disposed of. With this method that Dan created it has now reduced the labour, and all pieces can be reused and repurposed as needed. The wire is also stronger and does not get covered by overturned dirt like the light wire did. Winning!

04.01.2022 We have some of these beauties (and more) listed over on Prom Coast Food Collectives shop. Local pick up, local delivery, and metro delivery all available. Perfect for these wintery nights. https://openfoodnetwork.org.au/prom-coast-food-co-op/shop

04.01.2022 Architectural grade cypress coming out of Amber Creek sawmill.

04.01.2022 This idea, this let’s see what happens, has grown into more than I could have ever imagined. It’s changed how we sell our pork, it’s meant viability and security of sales, it’s eased the pressure of distribution so I’m doing less kms on the road with kids in tow, it’s created a community of like minded producers who have become friends and introduced us to customers that are valued, appreciated and who have become like family and this year Prom Coast Food Collective buffer...ed the impact of COVID-19. Sending a heartfelt thank you to all those who over the years who have talked about us, shared posts, shopped with us and cheered us on. Thank you.

03.01.2022 We have a new product to introduce...HOT DOGS! How long has it been since youve had one? I think the last time I had a hot dog may have been under12s netball at the Wonthaggi courts. That and those lollies that look like Saturn on a stick. Know the ones? Perfect after match fuel. *no picture yet available of the hot dogs as they are still being made. ** ready March

03.01.2022 What are your weekends for? For us they are a mix, markets, Prom Coast Food Collective packing day, pig feeding, dam swimming, reading the newspaper, and planting trees! Here we are planting oaks that are about 2 years old that we grew from an acorn. They are being planted around our yards to one day spread their branches out and provide some shelter here. This is attempt two, the first were eaten by wombats and wallabies. Here we are testing out the new plastic free tree guards designed by Dan. Here’s hoping!!!
