24.01.2022 We have been a bit slow on the news side and just found out about this. We would love to help @longtable_farm to rebuild their barn Long Table Barn Raising: Long Table Farm is the sort of farming we all want to see more of - they strive for sustainable farming practices done in an ethical way where their animals are pasture-raised and treated with respect. A lot of what they love and do is dependent on the machinery, tools and equipment needed for day-to-day operations, a...ll stored in their ginormous custom-built barn. In the early hours of this morning, the farm was devastated with the loss of this prized barn. 8 fire trucks attended, but the loss was devastating. As fire tore through it, Brent and Bec could only helplessly watch as it all was lost. Brent and Rebecca, along with help from family and friends, lovingly designed and built this barn from scratch, from foundation through to the finishing touches. Perched on the hill above the farm, it was an impressive structure and, as mentioned, housed everything important to daily farm life. For their business and livelihood to be sustained, along with their passion and drive, we thought we would encourage everyone, where possible, to help out. As all of us know, Brent and Rebecca are two of the most selfless people we have ever met. Their whole life philosophy is that when you have enough, you share, you pay it forward. Now it’s our chance to repay the love and kindness to them. Monetary donations to this GoFundMe page will help with the demolition and removal of the remnants of the barn as a starting point. Donations or loaning of machinery or tools and equipment is just as valuable. And if you have nothing to give, your time and energy to help out would be just as appreciated. In the spirit of a good old fashioned barn raising, we would love to see the Long Table Farm community rally around the two people who always rally around us. 24.01.2022 This season is being a very "swarmy" one. Last year we reached spring in the midst of a pretty bad drought, and there wasn't much flowering. Add the bushfires that came around this time and the season was a sad one. This year it looks like the girls are making the best of the good conditions and there are swarms left, right and centre. As a beekeeper, we would prefer if they didn't swarm, because it means we lose a lot of bees each time. But, it is a sign of health and abunda...nce, and for that, we cannot begrudge our girls. In this case Sven has turned up at just the right time to give them a new home and get them settled somewhere else. The German is punctual even for this. To be continued....

17.01.2022 A year ago we were surrounded by smoke that lasted weeks, and whilst it was a stressful time, we were amongst the lucky ones. Today, we remember those that lost their lives and their homes as well as the environmental destruction that the fires brought. We take our hats off to the amazing volunteers that fought the fires, provided shelter and food and kept on showing up at a time where it looked like there was no light at the end of the tunnel. THANK YOU! Together with COVID, this last twelve months have given us pause and have made us reflect on what is important.

Well, this pizza combo was inspired by @milkandhoneymullumbimby and it turned out absolutely delicious You could use regular or chilli honey but in this case we decided to go for the truffled one. 02.01.2022 Throwback to us preparing for our first market. That was over four years ago and we really didn't know what we were doing. It was exciting, a bit scary and loads of fun. For us, the markets have been an amazing opportunity to meet our customers, listen to feedback, tweak things... Last year we were doing up to four markets a weekend and going all the way down to Sydney without thinking about the toll that such a pace was taking on us. It is so easy to step into the hamste...r wheel and get into a groove and feel that you have to continue moving faster and faster. If there is one thing this Covid thing has taught us, is to slow the hell down. At least a little. (you can never get the German to slow down too much, he doesn't know how ;-) ) And this is why we have decided to cut down on markets moving forward. But, it is not all bad news.
