19.01.2022 Well... What a wild ride the last couple of weeks have been. Who would have known this is where we would end up. International borders closed, state borders closed and the loss of an unimaginable amount of jobs, including mine effectively. I guess you could say lucky for me, I can’t sack myself, but as long as these travel bans are in place then I have zero work and zero income, just like a lot of other people right now. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this crazy si...tuation and we can only hope and pray that it all comes to an end sooner rather than later. A little positive is that as of Monday afternoon I have all of my overseas clients back on Australian soil and they are all currently in self isolation for 14 days. It took a hell of a lot of blood, sweat and tears (oh so many tears) to get them all home safe but I was so proud of my efforts in a situation that was changing and updating quicker than we could say ‘Covid-19’. I now turn my concentration to cancelling/postponing all of the departures I had booked for the next couple of months. It breaks my heart to see all of my hard work go to waste and my clients dreams shattered but I can only hope that when the time comes that it is safe again to travel, that these plans will be rebooked with more happiness and excitement than ever before. Please note that I will not be taking any face to face appointments until further notice. All correspondence will be via phone or email. For now, look after yourselves, stay home, wash your hands and stay positive. Shop online and support the little guys where you can. Spend this time planning your next adventures and bring your plans to me when the time comes. It’s going to be a long, bumpy road ahead for many of us, but it will come to an end and we will be stronger than ever when it does. Stay safe and well A x [email protected]

18.01.2022 This time 4 years ago I was about to set off on my first trip to South Africa. It is still one of my favourite travel experiences and just by chance I received an update from Bench Africa this morning that caught my eye and I thought I’d share! It is a bit long but worth a read! Is Africa expensive? ... One of the biggest things we hear about when it comes to speaking with people about Africa is that it is "too expensive". There's two problems with this way of thinking. One is that people often assume Africa is more expensive than it actually is and secondly they don't take into account the value of a trip like this. Africa can be expensive, especially if you choose to stay at some of the finest properties in the world. Having said that, the same can be said for almost anywhere. Because the general knowledge of Africa is quite low, people often blindly flip through a brochure until they come across a picture they like and then look straight for the price. Often it's one of the fancy lodges and they have a fancy price tag that accompanies it. However if you were to do the same with England, looking only at the Ritz and the Savoy, then people would look at you strangely and point out the more affordable options. The same applies for Africa. It isn't just a choice between super luxurious and basic camping. There are a range of properties, from 3 star to 4 star and onwards. Not only that, but Africa is far more inclusive than other destinations. When on safari your meals, game activities, transfers and more are all included. Compare that to your previous mentioned UK holiday where everything is extra and in English pound (so twice as much!). When you factor this in suddenly Africa can be far more affordable than a comparable European or American trip. There is also the value part of the equation. People rave about Africa. For those who haven't yet been, its often a dream trip. There is a difference between something being cheap and something being great value. Bali is cheaper but what is the value of an Africa trip? You are living out a long held dream, staying in lovely places and experiencing amazing things. This can be done at prices that aren't much more than a Bali trip. For example, take our Cape Town, Kruger and Victoria Falls trip. 3 star, 12 days, from $3395. Or have a look at the Secrets of South Africa trip. 4 star, 11 days, from $3011. It's very affordable and easier than ever. Does it cost more than a cheap trip to Bali? Yes. Do we think it is better value for money than Bali? Absolutely. I mean, Bali is great but it's not Africa great. PS - How amazing are elephants. My absolute fave PPS - If you would like any more info on the tours they mention just let me know! A x [email protected]

13.01.2022 Hi All, Sorry for my lack of updates on here over the past month or so, it has been a busy time for me as I try to get everything under control before I take a little break to have a baby! It is now only 6 weeks until I am due so I am busily finalising all my clients who are travelling between now and July which will allow me to have some much needed family time once bubs arrives.... Thank you all for your patience with me over this time and I am doing my best to respond to all enquires in a timely matter. From now until bubs arrives I am going to be concentrating on my current clients who already have travel arrangements booked in so will likely not be looking at any new enquiries until after baby arrives and we have settled in. You are still more than welcome to send your enquires through and I will respond to them as I am able, but please be aware that I will not be taking on any new enquires for travel departing before 1 August at present. Please refer to my pinned post above for full maternity leave details and feel free to send through any questions you may have! Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding during this exciting time for my family and I look forward to sharing our news with you all soon! A x [email protected]
13.01.2022 Helloooooo!!! ** Check in and Coronavirus Update ** It has been awhile since I’ve checked in here officially, but I have been busily and quietly working away in the background for a while now!! I am back on board 1 day a week officially (Thursday’s from 10am-4.30pm) and then whatever I can manage from home in between #mumlife. My baby girl Koa is now 9 months old and she is just the best. We are very blessed! I am still only taking on limited clients for the time being as I... can only fit so much into my days at the moment but please still get in touch if you’re thinking about getting away and I will let you know if I can help! What I did want to jump in and touch on quickly was the evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation that is flooding our media channels. I stumbled across a really clear and simple video this morning which I think explains the situation perfectly. Follow the below link to watch. Understandably, you may be reconsidering your holiday plans for the foreseeable future. What I want to try and explain is that if you are a generally healthy and strong person with no signs of illness or respiratory issues, as long as you follow basic hygiene practices you are at a very low risk of contracting the virus. At this current point in time, you may ask my opinion in relation to what I would do. Would I travel to Japan? Yes I would Would I go to Italy? Yes of course, except to the affected areas of Northern Italy which I would steer clear of. Would I go to Singapore? Absolutely Would I take a domestic or trans-Tasman cruise any time soon? Yes Would I travel to the USA, the UK, Bali or Thailand? Without hesitation. Would I travel to China, South Korea or Iran? No I wouldn’t. Would I book a cruise for anytime this year in Asia? Not unless the crisis was over, a vaccine was available or I could get 100% of my deposit back in the event I chose to cancel for any reason. While the travel industry and broader global economy have faced many challenges in the past 30 years, nothing has instilled fear in people as quickly as this situation has and in my opinion I feel this is because we have never had access to 24/7 media like we do now and for the most part, a lot of the information being broadcast is uneducated, non factual and fear based. The situation today has moved on since yesterday, which was different to the day before. Tomorrow will be different again. Be aware and realistic of the news and information you choose to consume and if in doubt, refer to the DFAT, CDC and WHO sites for factual and up to date information related to the destination you are travelling to. If you have any future travel booked with me and you are concerned or have any questions or queries then please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can work through your questions or concerns together in an educated and unbiased way. Happy Tuesday! A x [email protected]
12.01.2022 And that’s a wrap!! The time has come for me to step back and take a little break as we await the arrival of our first baby! This coming Monday the 6th of May will officially be my first day of Maternity Leave and I’m looking forward to taking the time to breathe, rest and concentrate on my new little family. ... I have been in touch with all of my clients with bookings up until the end of July, however if you have not heard from me, the email may have gone astray so please don’t hesitate to email me with any queries you may have. If you have a booking with me for later in the year and need some assistance, or would just like some more information regarding the changes to my business during this time then please email [email protected] for an auto reply with the details. Once again thank you all for your continued support and well wishes during this exciting time and I can’t wait to share the news with you all! A x [email protected]
