24.01.2022 On Thursday, 13 August, 2020, the final work was done to prepare Blackhawk A25 - 105 for display at Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre (AAHC). Compliments to all concerned and, in particular, the team at Static Display Aircraft Support Section (SDASS) and Restoration Support Section (RSS) for the work that they did. Thanks to Kevin Gillespie, one of our volunteer guides at AAHC for the attached photos which show some of the finishing work and the repositioning of Blackhawk A25 - 105.

22.01.2022 One of the items on display at Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre is a Link Trainer. The Link Trainer was developed by Edwin Link as a flight simulator and Air Forces of many countries used them prior to, and during, WW2.

21.01.2022 This, small, explosive storage locker was originally situated in the Amberley Flight Line area and held engine starter cartridges for the Canberra bombers (and, later for the F-111 aircraft). The storyboard compiled by Darryl Purdon provides more details.

16.01.2022 One of the many different types of vehicles used by the RAAF over the years was the ' Blitz' wagon. One currently undergoing restoration was made by Ford Canada. It's RAAF Registration was 19012. During RAAF service, it had had a crane mounted to it for aircraft engine removal. Restoration of the Blitz is progressing nicely through hard work by Max and others. The crane will not go back on but, at a later stage, will be refurbished to go on display.

14.01.2022 It's always a challenge trying to find space for a new display item. The team have been hard at work today in Hangar 280.

04.01.2022 Part of the story of Tamale 35. Interesting what you can find on the web. The following extract can be found at www.specialoperations.net/GCCONGmoh1.HTM. When showing our Winjeel to visitors at Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre, I usually refer to the RAAF Fighter pilots who were seconded to the USAF for duties as Forward Air Controllers during the Vietnam War. This story gets a mention. Flt Lt Garry Cooper FAC Tamale 35 CMOH Nomination by General Ewell August, 1968...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Putting together hand sanitizer stations as part of requirements to make Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre compliant with current COVID-19 requirements. Not quite the same as furniture packs from a certain group but almost.
