06.01.2022 Do Latex Balloons break down. YES...YES they do. Latex balloons are made from tree sap from Rubber Trees. Trees are not felled during this process. And th...ere are dedicated protected areas of the Rain Forrest full of Rubber Trees. 9 months ago I found a sunny spot in my garden and placed a mix of round and twisting balloons to battle the elements. I set them down along side leaves and some natural rope. The leaves are still there, and rope while can be broken in places has still a way to go. You can see the balloons have deteriorated immensely. If disposed of correctly or composted, Latex Balloons will break down, and I imagine even quicker and more throughly than mine . Professional Balloon Artists are against Balloon Releases as they are a-kin to littering. We promote the term and action Pin It And Bin It. LATEX BALLOONS ARE NOT PLASTIC.
