25.01.2022 This is what you get when you go cheap. So out with the old and in with the new. A nice new 4 head multi split system for a customer, it wpuld of been a good day had the supplier not been 3hrs late with the delivery.

23.01.2022 When you want to cool multiple rooms but dont want the big cost of a ducted and be able to have fine control of airflow and temperature of each room, a multi split may be the answer. Make sure you get what you pay for and the system installed by a qualified refrigeration mechanic and not an electrician who has done a 2 day course and definately not someone who is not qualified.

18.01.2022 Do you have something like this over your AC unit because it looks ugly? If so I recommend you remove it ASAP as you are highly likely to cook the compressor and kill the AC

17.01.2022 Dont forget people Air con units work great for heating spaces too. If you have a Daikin and come home to a cold house choose heating mode (sun symbol) and then select powerful (muscle man) and it will heat up in no time.

14.01.2022 This is a completely illegal installation done by a good guys preferred installer. There are 3 seperate units all of which should have their own electrical circuit but this installer decided to run all 3 off 1 circuit. Be very careful and check licenses of the tradesmen you use.

14.01.2022 Just been to a customers home who had work done on her electrics in the house, it had 3 phase power so when the power came back on the electrician assured her the air con being as noisy as it was is normal. The air con no longer worked, I found two of the phases were reversed (would be at the fuse board) and this caused the compressor to run backwards. If left like this it would of burnt out eventually, I fixed up the power and air con works again. The point of the post is be aware work on your power could effect other items in the home so make every effort to check as many items as possible. This customer is now happy as it was a cheap fix and she has heating again now

13.01.2022 Set you AC to 22 degrees it will be lovely and cool yet it will help keep the energy bill down and not load up the power grid as much which will help reduce the risk of a blackout. Stay safe , keep doors and windows shut while AC is on

11.01.2022 It is truly frightening what some people do when installing air conditioning units. This is a 5kw machine with a maximum running current of 13.5amps plugged into a 10amp socket with undersized cable. Fire waiting to happen

09.01.2022 Hi All just got this post from an air con industry related group which highlights the possible dangers from a bad installation, as most manufacturers are now using a gas that is a blend containing Butane the risks are potentially deadly as well as dangerous to your home. Please ask for a license number as well as an arctick license number so you know your installer is competent. All the leak and in particular air in the system is of great concern . We know of 2 explosions fr...om systems containing air and flammable refrigerants We suspect it is caused by the diesel effect (air fuel and compression causing a spontaneous explosion) ARA and ARMA are deeply concerned a fatality will occur in Aus . We are putting together a safety notice which we will post next week Please treat all systems you think may have a leak or contain air with extreme cation our advise is isolate and lock out system until we can confirm a safe working method to handle contaminated systems safely . We are happy to provide photo graphic examples of the explosions for you to show the client why you are concerned and have isolated the unit . The client can then choose what options they want to pursue but you, the mechanic will be safe . Please keep an eye out for further info See more

09.01.2022 In a couple of days after the dust storm has cleared it would be a good idea to give you condensing unit of your air conditioner a wash especially leading up to summer.

09.01.2022 A piece of advice for everyone, when you go into harvey norman, bing lee or any of the other stores do you really think a sales assistant can really give you the best advice as to what air conditioning unit you need for your home without looking at it? there are several things that need to be taken into consideration like size and quantity of windows, what heat load is in the room what insulation you think might be in the walls and ceiling etc. Get some who is qualified to quote for you to ensure you get what you need and not what stock someone has been told to sell.

08.01.2022 This is a unit that was never serviced, the company have asked me to put together a maintenance schedule on the remaining units. Nobody likes to spend money but this could of ended very badly.

07.01.2022 Well today is a nice introduction to summer, how good is this warm weather. You never find an air con guy moan about the heat (except when theyre in your roof). Just a little tip from a tradie, the offer of a drink goes a long way no matter what time of the year.

Looked at a cake display fridge getting too cold, found the controller faulty with shorted out terminals on the back here is a little guide for you cafe owners and operators. this is a particular brand but the LED indicator methodology is common across most brands. Be careful as this guy was lucky he didnt have a fire.

01.01.2022 Be very careful people this is a 5kW system installed by Derick who was a recommended installer for the #goodguys Alexandria. It most definately does not meeting Australian wiring regs. The cable used is the same as youd use for a bedside light with a max 50w lamp in and shouldnt be used to power a 5000w air con unit.
