24.01.2022 A new mental health website, Healthy Mind, has been launched to address needs of people with intellectual disability. Excerpt: "almost 470,000 Australians live with an intellectual disability and about half will experience mental health conditions. Clinical psychologist Peter Baldwin said having an intellectual disability was still highly stigmatised and society had a long way to go to understanding how to provide support...But he's confident the Healthy Mind website will help turn that around." 23.01.2022 Monday Morning Adventure Crew, Bushwalking through Sandy Creek Conservation at Redland Bay. Bushwalks allow us to practice reading maps, negotiation & decision making, time management and develop self confidence. Plus we get some good cardio exercise, lots of laughing and we get to see some pretty cool wildlife!

Excitedly flapping Inappropriate clapping Autism varies so much Won't wear a coat, or wears one all year round Fussy eater, or would eat dirt from the ground Screaming or humming Annoyingly drumming Toys in a line The same way every time Autism varies so much Struggling to learn, or has wonderful gifts Obsessions of numbers, trains, films or lifts Spinning around Throws things on the ground Constantly spitting Aggressively hitting Autism varies so much Alone without friends, or controls every game Always looks different, always dresses the same Swinging on doors Head banging on floors Freaks at the dryer Keeps climbing higher Autism varies so much. Can't answer questions, won't do as they're told In their own world or bossy and bold Over prepared Anxious and scared A spectrum so wide But they all bring us pride When autism touches our lives. I support autism awareness always Support, don’t stare or ridicule, its genuine, and can’t be helped. Support is welcomed, this could be any child, any parents daily struggle, but understanding and patience is a virtue . **It doesn't matter how old that child is either. 21.01.2022 **Seton College, Mt Gravatt Closure** Seton College was opened in 1964. For children with disabilities. Saved thousands of children falling through the cracks & getting lost in the system. Brisbane Catholic Education needs to reconsider. Seton College needs to stay open. No proof on what Pam Betts - Executive Director, Brisbane Catholic Education.... 07.01.2022 Last week Braydon & I went on a scouting mission to find some great walks for our Ambition Adventures Groups to go on. We went to The Purling Brook Falls at Springbrook. The day after some rain making the track a bit muddy; we traipsed down 460 stairs to finish the first half of the walk at the base of the waterfall. A quick bite to eat, lots of beautiful pics and a chat to some other hikers, we embarked on the second half of the walk up to the top of the mountain. An easy i...ncline walk as we weren’t about to walk back up 460 steps! Was a great 5k walk! Our Ambition Adventurers will be heading there again in the coming months. We hope you can join us!

06.01.2022 Monday, the Ambition Adventure Crew headed to the Sunshine Coast for a fantastic day at Australia Zoo! We practised our map reading skills, time management, negotiation and photography skills whilst learning about all the beautiful animals, and sometimes even playing hide & seek with them. we also got to meet Victor & Allana for Lunch & watched the wildlife warriors show with Terri, Bindi & Robert Irwin - unanimously, our favourite part of the day! A great day for our new support worker Amélie to experience the Ambition dream. Looking forward to our next day of friendship, adventure & laughter
