23.01.2022 AMCN WISHES ALL OUR FRIENDS AND ALL OUR FOLLOWERS & THEIR FAMILIES A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 FILLED WITH BLESSINGS, REAL HAPPINESS AND TRUE LOVE......

23.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM BISHOP ANTOINE-CHARBEL TARABAY: Friends, Australia is facing an unprecedented disaster as fire engulfs the land in many areas and many states. Lives have been lost, homes and towns have been destroyed and smoke has shrouded whole cities and even crossed to other countries. There seems to be no end in sight for this horror as we watch with powerlessness before the force of nature.... With you, I praise the heroic efforts of firefighters and emergency services, and I share the pain and suffering of the communities most affected by these disasters. It is heart-warming to see the response of the wider community and the solidarity of all Australians at this time. I am aware and grateful for the many initiatives done in the Maronite parishes and through our organisations to support the relief services. I thank all the volunteers and benefactors of those initiatives. I also wish to inform you that the MaroniteCare Bushfire Appeal has so far raised $20,542. In line with the Australian Catholic Church which is collaborating with key national Catholic agencies and especially the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) to ensure as effective a response as possible from the wider Catholic community, our Maronite Church will hold an appeal on Australia Day weekend (25-26 January 2020). Volunteers will be at church doors with collection boxes, with all funds to be donated to the Vinnies bushfire appeal. Facing this exceptional crisis, and with the entire Catholic Church of Australia, we continue to pray for those stricken by drought and fire, for those who have lost their lives in the fires and their families, for rain to quench the parched land and extinguish the fires, and for urgent action to care for our common home in order to prevent such disasters in the future: God of Creation, In your love for us, you created the universe and embrace with your compassion and tenderness all that exists. Our hearts cry out to you today in the wake of these fires ravaging many parts of Australia. We ask you Lord to protect all those who are threatened by the flames; to give consolation to those who have lost their loved ones and possessions; grant rest to those who have lost their lives; healing to those that have been injured; and safety to firefighters, police, army and volunteers who risk their lives to save those in danger. We make this prayer, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, Saint Charbel, Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop and all the Saints. I thank you for your tremendous generosity towards all our appeals. May God bless this land and protect it and its people from all disasters and harm.

22.01.2022 HAPPY ST MAROUN'S FEAST DAY FROM ALL OF US IN AMCN.... As part of the annual festivities, a Solemn mass at St Maroun's Cathedral was celebrated by his Grace Bishop Tarabay earlier on this evening to commemorate St Maroun's Feast Day.. In attendance at the Cathedral amongst the swarms of loyal Maronites, too many to enumerate, were many government representatives ...... They all came to celebrate St Maroun Feast Day and to wish Bishop Tarabay and the Maronite Community a Happy Feast... St. Maroun, Father of the Maronite Church, is a 4th century Syriac Monk who embraced a quiet life of solitude living as a hermit ... St. Marouns life was spiritually monastic, spending his time in prayer and meditation, and his example of chastity and labour with love inspired many, gaining disciples both men and women. Mar Maroun, a great mystic and healer both physical and spiritual, was able to free himself from the physical world by his passion and fervour for prayer and enter into a mystical relationship of love with God. He died around 410. St. Maroun pray for Us!

21.01.2022 WHAT ABOUT OUR CHURCHES AND OTHER WORSHIP PLACES??? ANXIETY IS RAGING AS A RESULT OF ISOLATION AND MOST OF THOSE AFFECTED NEED THEIR PLACE OF WORSHIP, irrespective of which religion or denomination, TO UNLOAD THEIR HEAVY LOAD OR BURDEN AND SEEK PEACE AND HEALING WHERE IS THE LOGIC? ... DECISION MAKERS NEED TO BE CONSISTENT... FOLLOWING IS THE LATEST UPDATE OF GOVERNMENT DECISIONS ANNOUNCED IN RELATION TO EASING UP THE RESTRICTIONS CAUSED BY THE CORONA VIRUS (covid 19) WHICH HAS ALMOST CRIPPLED AUSTRALIA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD: Students returning to their schools in in NSW Reopening of beauty salons with 10 customers at a time provided a four-square metre rule is observed Up to 50 people as of 1 June will be allowed in restaurants, bars, clubs (but gambling is now forbidden) and cafes, while exercising the four square metre rule. Reservations of no more than 10 people must be booked in advance New South Wales residents will be able to take a vacation anywhere in New South Wales New South Wales museums, galleries and libraries will be allowed to reopen, subject to a four square metre rule IT'S OK TO OPEN SCHOOLS WITH 1000 STUDENTS AND TEACHERS... IT'S OK TO OPEN CLUBS AND RESTAURANTS TO ACCOMMODATE 50 CUSTOMERS... IT'S ALL FOR A BETTERMENT OF THE ECONOMY AND FOR FINANCIAL BENEFITS... BUT WHEN IT COMES TO CHURCHES WHICH UNDOUBTEDLY OFFER SPIRITUAL HEALING TO ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION SUFFERERS, LET ALONE ALL BELIEVERS, THEN IT'S NOT OKAY....!!!...???? On behalf of all the people we represent, the AMCN kindly request the relevant authorities that we duly appreciate and respect, to consider our plea, while enforcing the safety rules, and reopen our churches where we all find peace and serenity..and the spiritual healing that we all need during this abhorrent pandemic... GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA! GOD BLESS US ALL! AMEN.

15.01.2022 AMCN PRESS RELEASE .... He who has two hearing ears, let him hear ...... Archbishop Boulos Abdel Sater to the three spheres of the Lebanese Government: "Undo the wrong and work with the real revolutionaries ... otherwise, you'd better resign...!" During the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of St Maroun's feast, his grace Paul Abdel Sater, Archbishop of Beirut, addressed in his sermon the political officials in Lebanon, after which the attendees applauded, and said: " Your excellencies, we entrusted you with our souls and our future ! Remember that authority is service!" He added: "We want from you initiatives that inspire hope, messages that unite and constructive actions to adopt and execute. We want you to be responsible leaders!" We, in the Australian Maronite Community Network , President and Board Members, take pleasure in seconding the content of the homily delivered during St Maroun's Solemn Mass by Sayyedna Abdel Sater and commend his courage and bold statements made in the presence of the honourable Lebanese troyka.. Lebanon is in a strife and facing huge problems and conflicts like never before...and it is about time, in the midst of other faint voices, for someone with the courage and status of Arcbishop Boulos Abdel Sater to lead the campaign towards a true and genuine independent Lebanon free from bigotry, discrimination and corruption ... May the maronites continue to be the yeast in a multi faith Lebanon and the strong bond amongst its diverse denominations... Thank you to the Archbishop of Beirut for being the blatant voice in the wilderness of Lebanon, and the good shepherd in launching the call of justice, love and peace... GOD BLESS, AMCN

13.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM BISHOP ANTOINE-CHARBEL TARABAY Dear brothers and sisters, We are presently living in strange and uncertain times. It is in these times that we must remain focused on the message of the Gospel. Some weeks ago, we heard the Lenten Gospel of the Leper. We saw Jesus reach out in mercy to the most vulnerable. We are a Church built on Gods word. Our core convictions of love, hope, mercy, kindness and compassion are more important than ever.... We have seen those convictions being challenged in many ways over the last few weeks, including in supermarket aisles. Even in the Church, frustrations over changes have been taken out on our priests. This is not a time for division, it is a time for care and compassion. *In this Year of Maronite Outreach, it will be our responses and our acts which will set us apart and demonstrate to all those around us, that Christ remains in the world.* Over the coming days I will be releasing messages confirming that all non-essential gatherings in the Church are cancelled. At this stage Sunday liturgy and all the necessary sacraments are constantly being reviewed. These are difficult decisions and circumstances are requiring us to review the situation daily. We will be making as much use as we can of technology. Presently, we must all seek to promote the truth. In these uncertain times, we can be challenged by our own fears. Rumours and opinions are circulating. You should check on the Government and Eparchy pages for confirmed sources of information. I also ask you to resist pride, because some decisions will challenge all of us. Think carefully about how you respond and remember love and kindness. Be focused on others, seek joy in the Gospel and in God. Use this time as our Christ did in the desert. Make this a time of prayer and reflection. Spend time with your family in love and patience. *Although many things will be cancelled - love, pastoral care and God will not. Reach out to others like Christ reached out to the leper. Our clergy will continue to provide pastoral care and we count on you to also support one another.* There will be further messages soon. I pray for good health for all and that you remain safe from every harm, entrusting you all to the loving care of Mary, Health of the Sick. In Christ, + Antoine-Charbel Tarabay
