25.01.2022 A quick note on the seed quality of different chickpea varieties for CQ. These three commercial crops were grown in the same geographic area and harvested within the last 2 weeks so the differences you see here are mostly genetic. PBA Pistol is displaying its distinctive ‘tiger-striping’, while PBA Drummond has a relatively small seed size and yellowish seed coat with a dark dot. With its unblemished creamy colour and size, Kyabra is highly sought after by buyers, and we've... found achieves a premium within the containerised market. So while the PBA breeding team are working hard to produce Aschochyta resistant varieties for the Northern cropping region, no current varieties have been able to match Kyabra for seed quality and marketability. It’s just another reason to ensure everything possible is done to keep Aschochyta at bay for as long as possible by: Sourcing seed which has been DNA tested Aschochyta free Treating seed with 100% coverage of thiram/thibendazole seed dressing Controlling volunteer chickpea in fallow Ensuring that people and machinery entering your paddock are clean and/or disinfected See more

25.01.2022 AMCo are very pleased to be supporting CORESQld who provide suicide intervention training for Queensland regional communities. The mental health of rural and regional Queenslanders is very important to us, because that's OUR people! https://www.facebook.com/CORESQueensland

24.01.2022 In preparation for a reasonable mungbean harvest we have recently set up an extra five 60T silos at our Biloela facility. Multiple smaller silos are more valuable than a few big storages in the mungbean industry as it allows us to maintain full traceability from paddock to end customer. It also ensures that we can market each line on its merits rather than the lowest quality product that was blended in a common silo. This season AMCo will have access to over 6000T of storage in more than 80 silos.

20.01.2022 Got our newest staff member to pose for his "official" portrait this week! Ben, who will be familiar to many of our Callide-Dawson growers, joined our crew last month and is learning the ropes in many different roles - from production to intakes and grower services. We are anticipating a big summer mungbean season on the back of predicted rain and intense demand from our Asian customers. We are hoping that many skilled hands will make light work of season 2021.

20.01.2022 Its a beautiful sunny day in Biloela as we start packing chickpea boxes destined for Bangladesh.

19.01.2022 AMCo are now Accredited Receivers under the Grain Harvest Management Scheme (GHMS) which means that GHMS registered trucks that are delivering here have a 7.5% flexibility on their maximum gross mass limits. If your truck is not currently GHMS registered, check out how to do so on the AgForce website... https://agforceqld.org.au/ghms

14.01.2022 Its really important to keep up the organic matter content of our alluvial soils in the Callide Valley - its essential for soil structure and nutrition. But its not always easy dealing with a lot of stubble at planting time. This John Deere combine did a magnificent job of handling a heavy stubble load when planting mungbean on 7 inch rows with disc openers this week. You can hardly see where its been!

13.01.2022 This season it's the later planted Central Queensland crops that are coming in with the best quality thanks to a single flowering event after rain, and a warm dry finish. Take a look via time-lapse as this crop dries down ready for harvest.

12.01.2022 Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting a group of highschool students from Monto who are considering a career in Ag. They were touring with AgForce's School to Industry Partnership Program. Hopefully they got a little taste of how exciting and varied a career in agriculture can be.

11.01.2022 Social distancing being practiced at a CQ Pulse Check field meeting yesterday!

07.01.2022 Remember the old CWA cookbooks? Well look what they're up to now! Today we had a visit from some of the QCWA's Country Kitchens team who are aiming to improve healthy eating by strengthening the links between farmers and home cooks. They've got some GREAT recipes on their website. Perhaps we might see a few new mungbean dishes there soon too! https://www.qcwacountrykitchens.com.au/recipes/

07.01.2022 First delivery of Summer 2020 beans today. 25T down, about 10,000 to go. Shipping these out will be a great chance to live test the impact of CoVID-19 on road, port and shipping logistics.

04.01.2022 Four days of hard work and the grading plant has been cleaned and sanitised top to bottom ready for a new season of mungbeans. Bring it on!

04.01.2022 Back in late Sep we watched a combine plant beans into some heavy trash and promised to re-visit the crop later. We're happy to report it's doing well and first flowers are starting to appear. As a testament to the huge soil water deficit there was with a very dry April-September: these beans have had 120mm of irrigation applied pre-plant and 40mm post-plant, as well as 90mm of in-crop rainfall and are already looking for another drink. That bucket was very empty!

01.01.2022 Like every other business, the way we do things is changing with the nation’s fight against CoVID-19. With harvest season approaching we will ask that TRUCK DRIVERS REMAIN IN THEIR TRUCKS DURING DELIVERIES. Upon arrival, please call the office from the weighbridge where you will be weighed and directed to your silo. Our staff will back you onto the unloading belt, then back to the bridge to be weighed off. Weighbridge dockets can be emailed. Let’s do everything we can to keep Australia earning an income, and save lives!
