21.01.2022 How cool is this? A Melbourne-based 3D printing company Spee3D is making Copper-coated doorknobs- the latest weapon in the world's fight to control the spread of COVID-19. Copper has broad anti-microbial properties and has already been installed in some hospitals around the world to stop the spread of antibiotic-resistant superbugs. When a bacterium or virus lands on copper, electrically charged particles known as ions jump from the surface into the bacterium, punching holes in it and killing it. #MineralsAreEssential #InThisTogether http://ow.ly/JBYu50zfwV4

Using their expansive knowledge, plants were identified around the mine site and recorded with the help of a Pilbara-based botanist. The information & knowledge captured during the time on Nyiyaparli country was used in Roy Hills rehabilitation plan, and was preserved for future generations #NRW2020 #InThisTogether

16.01.2022 Good old Copper to the rescue! Aussie scientist Dr William Ducker, has created what is potentially a game-changing copper-based substance that essentially drains the COVID virus of its power. When the coating is painted on glass or stainless steel, the amount of virus is reduced by 99.9 per cent in one hour, compared to the uncoated sample. The coating is made of cuprous oxide, which is essentially recycled copper pipes and wires. More here: http://ow.ly/veEQ50AGNzX

15.01.2022 "Mining companies make loads of money"... Well, yeah they do, but they also spend heaps too! After all the taxes and royalties there's still loads of other bills for mining companies to pay (including paying lots of Aussie businesses that provide services for our industry) So we made this super simple pic to help people understand the other types of things mining companies' money goes to #MiningMoney101 #AustralianMining #Mining #MineralExploration

10.01.2022 We often hear "but mining companies don't pay tax" Except we do. We also pay levies, fees, royalties, charges & in to compulsory funds - around half the money we make goes here It can be confusing working out which goes where, and for what So we've made a super simple picture to help people understand that even though it might not be called a 'tax', it's still money that goes back to the State, the country and our people. #MiningMoney101 #AustralianMining #Mining
