25.01.2022 It’s fair to say we got a little over excited when Granthams Horse Transport not only delivered 3 horses but also several boxes of chocolates today ! The coffee room is a little bare of treats at the moment after Hannah Matthews ate them all so we are grateful to the team for Our special Christmas delivery ! Daniel Chester

24.01.2022 It’s obvious that here at Amelia Park we are not only horse lovers but thoroughbred lovers in particular but ... Did you ever wonder where the thoroughbred came from ???? Around the 3rd century 43 mares were imported to England. These were called the royal mares. ... At this time The General Stud Book as it was known began. A horse could only be registered if they had lines that related back to these royal mares. Between the years of 1689-1730 3 stallions were imported to be bred with. These are known as ; Byerly Turk, Darley Arabian and Godolphin Barb. Majority of thoroughbreds today can be traced back to only 27 or 28 stallions which were present in the 18th and 19th centuries. Flat racing began in England by 1174 and a dedicated racing paper know as The Racing Calendar was created in 1727. Over time we have used selective breeding to make the thoroughbred we have today quicker and more agile but at his heart his blood still traces back beyond the world we know today. So next time you celebrate the win of your racehorse don’t forget to admire the deep history that made him what he is today.

23.01.2022 The team at Segenhoe have been so patient with our Mare Ezee Ezee, a full sister to Melbourne Cup winner Efficient. Finally this lovely mare has given us a filly by a stallion on this rise in Kermadec. This may be our future Oaks filly with some luck.

22.01.2022 As we head into the new year we thought it was only fitting to share some happy snaps of a horse we are very excited to see at the track in the new year. Friday knight or as he is more commonly known as Tyson can fool you into thinking he is a quiet lad with not much personality but ... show him the camera and he will be sure to turn it on for you ! He has continued to develop in the body and mind since last prep and is easily the best looking horse on the farm. He has show...n us some seriously real raw ability but just didn’t quiet have his shit together last prep. But when he hits his stripes I think the racing world needs to watch out! Tyson and all the team at Amelia Park wishes everyone a happy and safe new year. We hope it brings you beautiful horses and plenty of winners.

17.01.2022 The lady of the hour, La Farola is enjoying a little holiday at Amelia Park this week following her impressive win at Ascot on Saturday. Beatrice as she is affectionately know is not only a pleasure to have in the stables but is also as honest as the day is long. She has the determination that you can’t buy in horses. As you can see by her recent photo shoot she is looking a million dollars care of the Lane stables and her zest for the dinner bowl! ... She will enjoy this week being pampered here at the farm before heading back to Micheal Lane Racing. La Farola is by Newgate Farm Deep Feild out of a mare that has been very good to us, Europa Point. We are excited to see what the future holds for our girl

14.01.2022 For those of you who have visited Amelia Park farm I’m sure the landscaped gardens are among the things to be remembered, if you haven’t visited us you will have to trust me that they are beautiful. Behind the scenes are the 3 wise men Dane Vujicic , Mason Kendall and Murray Scott. These three work tirelessly to not only maintain the roses, acres of green lawns and ponds but also help out with maintenance of water toughs, pumps and fencing .... all the things horses like to... break ! As sprinkler season approaches us we pray for as little trouble with the retic as possible abs thank them for the sensational job they do !

11.01.2022 Thrilled with our More than ready filly Ready to Ride winning at her first start at York. A good tough win and thanks to Durrant Racing and all the other owners involved hopefully the start of a successful racing career. Perth Magic Millions graduate.

10.01.2022 It’s only a few weeks before it’s that time again .... yearling prep !!!! Last year after much deliberation we made a significant change to our yearling preparation by choosing to night graze our yearlings during prep. This provided a few benefits; ... 1. They avoid grazing in the heat of the day over summer and avoid expanding unnecessary energy defending themselves from our summer flies. 2. It allowed them to have in excess of 12 hours a day on the grass which provided its own set of benefits including behaviour! Our colts in particular managed the preparation with much less time on two legs 3. There have been several studies that have indicated that stalling young growing horses has negatively impacted their bone density. Urinary samples indicated that bone reabsorption increased during the first 28 days of young horses being stalled from pasture. Another study suggested that Yealings that night grazed on average walked 70% more than horses that were day grazed. This free access to natural exercise is believed to aid in increasing bone density with or without the exercise we provide them with. We have always believed in quality over quantity and although we source the best price for our yearlings at sales, the longevity and success of the horses we breed and sell is paramount.

09.01.2022 Love looking at the Mares and foals could watch them all day! A lot to look forward to.

07.01.2022 Amelia Park has two runners lining up tomorrow at Ascot. Amelias Picante having her first start in Race 2 for the Simon Miller stable. She is a professional and level headed two year old so we expect her to be somewhere in the finish. Phoneme lines up on race 5 for Micheal Lane racing. He is an established horse is is finding a new lease of life here on the west and we also expect him to be somewhere close crossing the line. ... The Amelia Park team is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the day out at the races tomorrow! Good luck to all connections we hope to see you there !!!!

05.01.2022 Introducing two very special people that hide behind the camera here at Amelia Park ... Abbas has been working on the farm for more than 10 years. He holds down the fought over weekends, Christmas time and is always on call for emergencies. Sanja is Abbas’s daughter she has just entered high school and has a very bright future ahead of herself. She is smart outgoing and spends every afternoon after school and every weekend learning the ropes from her dad. ... Passion, dedication abs hard work without being asked is hard to find in a girl of Sanjas age. It’s easy to see the finished product on a race course and just as easy to forget the hard working crew way in the background. We are blessed to have both on our team
