25.01.2022 Hello you beautiful people <3 Greetings from Brussels, Belgium! Yes, that's right, I'm here, alive and kicking - despite not posting for the last month. Actually, I'm still away for just over another month, however, I am back to work. That is to say I'm working on some digital drawing and learning, and building something new. I'm not taking commissions at this point, but I am creating on some fun bits and pieces I hope to show you soon. I'm also writing! In the form of blog...ging and getting down in text some stories I've had rattling around in my head for a while now. Goodness knows what will come of that. If you're interested in following along I believe you can subscribe to my blogs and you'll get notified of new ones - though this is a new world to me so I'm not one hundred percent sure. Anywho, here's a little blog post from last week https://www.ameliamargaurite.com.au/grandad-books-life/ and there'll be more to come soon.
24.01.2022 Oh so accurate this morning
22.01.2022 To say it’s been a while would be quite the understatement. Hello again beautiful people <3 I’ve written this post in my head many times over throughout the last few months. But I just didn’t have that much to say. I still don’t, but I’ll give you all a little bit of an update. As some may know, or have figured out, there have been some pretty major changes in my life in the last year or so. I have gone through/am going through a divorce which came about rather suddenly and t...urned things upside down. My family have been absolutely amazing, I cannot thank them enough. However, I have been unable to continue trying to make a living through art. I have moved and moved again, I went overseas to visit an incredible person, and in the process of healing and trying to find my next step, I had practically put down all art supplies, not knowing when or if I’d pick them up again. At the same time that 2019 was hard, it was also the happiest, healthiest (in mind and body), and most confident in myself and self-worth that I have ever been. I’ve been building my life a-new, pursuing interests I put aside long ago and choosing carefully those I allow in my life and those I don’t. I feel good. Really good. I didn’t mean to stay away from my page here, but in all of that I didn’t have much in the way of art to share, and I wasn’t really ready to share my journey either. I’m still not sharing everything, but perhaps in time. Sowhere to from here? Well my website needs a massive overhaul. I deleted everything off it and I want to build a fun, quirky place to visit, perhaps with some hidden gems. I have a lot of plans, but as always, that will take time. And I’m building it from scratch as I’m continuing to teach myself about web development, coding and back end management one of my many interests which had gone by the wayside. Other than that, I hope to do a bit more drawing where I can and share with you all what I’m up to. I plan on blogging -something I’ve said for ages that I’d do but never got into the swing of it. Some about art, some about learning to draw, and some just about life perhaps. I am considering doing digital portraits like the one in this post. However I will no longer be doing physical watercolour, acrylic or charcoal portraits/commissions. If you’ve made it to the end of this essay, congrats, thank you, and sorry haha. I appreciate all of the support I have gotten since starting up this page, and especially those who have reached out to me wondering where I’d disappeared to. Sorry for just dropping away, and thank you for allowing me to do so. I am much better for it and hopefully can bring much better things into your life for it also. Much love, Amelia <3
22.01.2022 The (Depressing) Coffee Cycle I love coffee. So much so that I'm always sad to see it go. And so I savour it. By that I mean I can take an hour or two to drink a single cup. Yes, it gets quite cold.... Does this make everyone else shudder? I know a few people who will only drink it piping hot. Like, may as well have made the coffee in your mouth, kinda hot. Which reminds me of a Mr Bean episode, that I will kindly link in the comments As long as it's coffee, I'm happy. And when I get to the end of a cup it's really quite sad. Worse still when I forget I've finished it already and go to take one last sip, only to find the bottom looks like the last drawing there. But then I make another cup, and I'm happy again :) Surely there are others out there like me who take longer than five minutes to drink a cup? And still enjoy it? Tell me I'm not alone here.
21.01.2022 Fiiinally! I have my site up and running and my beginners drawing course live and F R E E! No need to sign in or sign up, everything is open for you to learn easily. If you've ever wanted to learn how to draw realistically then this is a great place to start. Learn from the very beginning, at your own pace, in your own home. Click the LEARN MORE button on my fb page or go to www.ameliamargaurite.com.au to check it out.... I created a facebook group for this course also which I'd love you to join. In there you can share your journey, questions, and artwork. I'd love to help you where I can, and see your abilities grow. Anyone can learn to draw realistically, and see like an artist, and I'm excited to be a part of that journey for you. Once again, the course is completely free and open, no need to sign up to,, or into, anything. Work at your own pace, or perhaps buddy up with a friend, motivate each other and stay connected through a new hobby and skill. The site will be updated and improved bit by bit over time. I've got some fun freebies to add and more functionality too. ALSO! If you have a suggestion on some more teaching videos or courses you want to see, let me know! I'm itching to sink my teeth into something new and I love sharing a little bit of knowledge where I can. Let me know how you find it!
21.01.2022 I promise you the online courae is coming asap! I've been working on coding the site in all of my spare time, just, as these things go, it's taking longer than I would prefer. Who's ready to learn how to draw?
19.01.2022 The first of three special charcoal portraits I'll be sharing this week. <3 I worked very closely with the lovely customer to make sure the pieces were everything she wanted. Stay tuned for the next one tomorrow <3 A4 charcoal
16.01.2022 Hello you beautiful, beautiful people <3 <3 <3 I have been so absent lately with so much going on that I'll be sharing with you shortly. In the mean time I whipped up a few simple colouring in sheets for this weekend, mainly bunnies, in case any of you had children who like to colour in and add their own touches to a drawing. I tried to get them uploaded on my site, as a few of you had noticed! So sorry they didn't work for you, I'm not sure what went wrong there. I have si...nce uploaded them to a dropbox link so if you'd like the link just comment down below and I will PM it to you. I hope you all have a fun filled weekend and I'll be back in touch again soon :) <3
16.01.2022 Free, self-paced, small online community to share your work, what more could you want from a beginners drawing course? https://www.ameliamargaurite.com.au/drawn-to-create for the course and https://www.facebook.com/groups/drawntocreate for the group to share your progress and questions <3
14.01.2022 I took my teeny (A6) sketchbook and cheapo mechanical pencil out for a walk yesterday. I just stopped when I felt like I wanted to draw something - I didn't get very far. Each pic *should* have a little more info, if I've done it right. Still in Belgium
13.01.2022 She's a work in progress; but then aren't we all? I was dabbling in acrylics last weekend and thought I'd show you what I was up to. I have very little experience with acrylics and I'm basically teaching myself as I go. So she's in various states if progress, while I try to get a skin tone I'm happy with, and just in general still trying to paint in features. I find acrylic quite hard to work in, far harder than oil painting, however I'm determined (stubborn?) I'll master th...e medium. I seem to be heading in somewhat of a Little Mermaid colouring - so I think I'll run with that. Goodness knows when she'll be finished as I'm working on her outside of work hours. But I'm thinking she could be the start of a new series...what do we think?
12.01.2022 Here we have the second of three portraits for one lovely customer. A special portrait - and a touch different to my usual. This is a sweet A3 portrait in charcoal <3
10.01.2022 Pay What You Want & Name Me I just want to create. But logic dictates I also need to bring in some income (what is this adulting nonsense?) So I'm considering bringing out pieces on a "Pay What You Want" basis, where you decide what you're willing to pay. Postage will be added on top ($15 for most) unless you mention it in your offer. I do reserve the right to knock back an offer, coz at the end of the day even artists need to eat. Offers can be made by PM or commenting below... each post. Finding freedom as a working artist and trying to sustain yourself is a tricky balance. One I'm still trying to tackle. So, what do we think? Also think a name would be nice for this piece. Ideas?
08.01.2022 So...this is happening. Hi you beautiful people I know I have been so quiet on socials for a long while now. I have still been working on the background, believe me! There has been a huge amount of upheaval and change in my life in the last 6 months, and I'm still getting my bearings. ... For now, however, it's time for me to do something huge, just for me. I'm off to Belgium to meet up with a dear, dear friend. I'll be exploring a whole new country and culture, and very likely freezing my butt off. Anyone who knows me knows I complain when the temp drops below 25C, and I'll be walking out into a brisk 10C. Wish me luck I will likely be taking the first part of the trip off from work and socials completely, however I will be working for the latter part of the trip. So expect to see some fun digital artwork posts from June onwards. Thank you all for sticking with me though massive absences like these. I'll be bringing you some beautiful art, and a peek at Belgium, soon.
07.01.2022 Hey beautiful people Really quick little video to let you know I'm working to get my 'Drawn to Create' Beginners Drawing Course up and running, and available for FREE shortly. I know the world is a bit of a weird place right now and I've been itching to find a little way I can do something in my own way. And this is what I have for now. If this sounds like something youd be interested in definitely let me know down below. ... Are you in lockdown? Or self-isolating? How are you passing the time so far? Stay safe everyone
07.01.2022 After a fairly stressful and tiring couple of days/weeks/months etc I'm learning to let myself have time to just create and express. And yes. Make a mess. I developed this black/white + bright colours combo sometime in highschool, and it really is something that expresses me quite well. There's a fair amount to unpack with that meaning, but I'll leave that for another day.... Thank you for everyone for your input on yesterday's piece I am STILL working my way through and replying. I love when you all get involved, it's so much what art is about.
07.01.2022 This year due to, well, you know, my parents aren't able to host the family for Easter, nor an Easter egg hunt. So I thought I'd change things up and design an egg hunt for them instead! Puzzles and riddles show have to be solved to find the next egg. Wish them luck! I've never done this before, so goodness knows if it'll work. My parents dont have social media, but if you know them please keep this a secret

04.01.2022 Being an artist = making a mess...right? I definitely tick that box
03.01.2022 I continued my obsession about coffee with a lil blog post and an attempt at a repeat pattern. https://www.ameliamargaurite.com.au/the-depressing-coffee-/ if you want to read it, and maybe see how mad I am for the stuff. By the way, I've been seeing that winter truly has come to Aus. My condolences to you all. I know some people love the cold weather, but I am not such a person. I thought I would find Belgium a whole heck of a lot colder than I have. The first few weeks wer...e kinda freezing for me (12-15 degrees C). But it's actually been super warm here the last couple of days, hitting the low 30's. Yesterday I wandered around a cemetery taking photos and writing, all in the lovely hot sun -- without getting burnt!!! My pale, pale skin is ever so thankful. And more on the cemetery visit another day. It's almost 11.30am here so it's about time for another coffee, now that I think of it. Mmm...coffee
