23.01.2022 Times like these, thankfully, are rare: but can be anxiety provoking nonetheless. This is a good guide to looking after your mind.

22.01.2022 Feeling absolutely knackered even though you haven't 'done anything'? The constant presence of the pandemic has settled like a fog in the valley; we aren't sure when it will lift, for some the changes minor, others have had major upheaval AND we aren't sure when this pervasive cloud will lift. Learning how to cope, gently, is a great start. I loved this piece by Maggie Dent.

16.01.2022 3/3 on boundaries. Good luck!

16.01.2022 Brain meds, blood meds, pain meds, whatever: you do your best. #ameliapadgettcounsellor

16.01.2022 Eep. I just realised.

15.01.2022 Holiday periods are often stressful, sometimes emotional. They can be both lonely & stifling. Grief makes them all the more tricky. #ameliapadgettcounsellor @ Launceston, Tasmania

15.01.2022 You’re the expert on you. (I’m just facilitating). Sometimes when you say something out loud, it helps to understand it in a different way.

14.01.2022 It’s about YOU. #ameliapadgettcounsellor

14.01.2022 Michaela is a Launceston local living in Romania - she brilliantly articulates how we are feeling and how to look after ourselves:

13.01.2022 The 15th-century poet Kabir said, Wherever you are that’s the entry point. So we play with starting where we are, pausing, relaxing our shoulders and asking ourselves, What or who do I really want to focus on right now? ...

13.01.2022 Often we’ll recognise positive aspects of someone else’s personality long before we see it in ourselves. Enjoy this short film, it’s amazing.

11.01.2022 Take note; rest is part of the change.

08.01.2022 It’s often the most tricky time of the year...

07.01.2022 If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a hard no. Relevant for consent, work, money, love, friendships & socialisation. Go with your gut.

07.01.2022 Complex trauma is trauma that often occurs over a long period of time; it can begin during childhood, for others it may not be experienced until adulthood. The anxious vigilance that our brains and bodies engage in to keep ourselves safe can be a manifestation of this trauma.

03.01.2022 Managing uncertainty can be tricky. Start by staying in the present moment: Now is a great time to watch that show you’ve been meaning to watch, pick up the book, talk with friends on the phone, and walk on paths less travelled. If you find yourself caught up with worrying about the future, try to limit it by allowing yourself a specific amount of time (say 15 mins a day) to ‘worry’ (watch the news, check Facebook, read articles & talk about it). Worry breeds worry, so reigning it in maintains more resilient thinking. It also minimises the opportunity your brain has to build pathways of worry/anxiety in your brain.

01.01.2022 Parents are not ok. Families with safe income and beautiful communication skills are struggling, those who lack either of these things are straining. And it’s not going to get better anytime soon. There’s some solace (a little?!) in knowing we aren’t alone. ... This current situation is almost prophetically designed to showcase the farce of our societal approach to separating work and family lives.
