22.01.2022 A start to the new week and the school holidays are fast approaching, time is one of those things that just slip by so fast and the days soon turn into weeks, t...he weeks turn into months and months turn into years. This year feels particularly hard, staff numbers have been unstable to say the least, there is a lot of new faces on board. You just think you have it sorted and then one of the crew’s life direction changes, they move, a staff member will break their leg and are out for the next two months and the list goes on. This year has had its challenges to any business. I though, just did a Sunday with a lot of new faces, mixed in with some of my normal weekend crew. Many of my newbies have not been in this industry for long. I was amazed at how these guys nailed it, a few mistakes, ones that they learned from, but these guys were extraordinary under pressure on the weekend, they multiskilled, they worked and they had fun and there were even a few giggles along the way. I often stand back and watch, I often smile because these guys really do get along so well, it is their passion to improve that makes me feel great to be a part of their team. Passion creates so much, it creates, beautiful coffee, a warming atmosphere, beautiful food, amazing service and this is what we strive to achieve on a daily basis. Do not get me wrong, we have a lot of newbies on at the moment, many that stumble through service mistakes, not having full menu knowledge but each and every shift, they are improving. Thank you, never appears to be enough. But thank you for your custom, thank you for watching this place change and grow since the doors were opened. If you have not tried us, we believe that we are worth trying. We are passionate and love what we do and this shines through in our product and service.

20.01.2022 A start to a new week and last week like most weeks just appears to disappear so fast, some days just disappear so fast and once again I find myself doing the p...ost, I set out to do early this morning on a Monday night. Every spare minute has been trying to unpack stock in the gift shop. There has been a lot of new stock arriving and we are trying to get this out and priced as quickly as possible. We are still training new staff and hopefully in the coming weeks, we will start to see some of these staff set free on their own. A couple of them are so very eager and we try to hold them back, just a little, because if they are not prepared then we naturally set them up to fail, if put under pressure. They are a great bunch of new individuals that join our team. I get asked often how everyone gets along so well, they just do, most of the time, they are a great bunch of people who are so passionate about what they do. They want to deliver the very best service; they want to make each and every customer feel valued and appreciated. They are passionate about service, food, coffee and every thing that they do. We strive to achieve great service, delicious coffee and beautiful food each and every time. We are open from Tuesday up to and including Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are open Sundays’ until 4:00pm and Monday’s until 5:00pm.

16.01.2022 One comment that I receive often from customers of late is how many new faces that we have around, there is a lot of new faces. We have had new additions to day... crew, night crew and weekend crew. Some have picked up the job as if they have been doing it all their life, while a couple will need some assistance, development and training to fully understand what their role is. One thing I always hear from the staff training the newbies, is what the customer means to us, I always smile to myself as I know that they have this, you see to us you are everything. Without customers we do not have the doors open, we do not get to employ so many people and we simply do not have a job ourselves. To us many of you are more than that. You have become a part of our family. You are what makes my sometimes so very long days’ worth while, many of you I have gotten to know so well and have made a difference to my life, thank you. We strive to get it right, we strive for amazing food, value for money, great customer service and smooth coffee every single time, we sometimes make mistakes but we never stop trying. If you have not come in for a while, we are well worth coming in to see how much we have developed from the early days. We have come a long way; we however will never stop trying to get better and better at what we do. We have a great team of people, we love what we do and I think this is what creates the atmosphere and reputation that we have. 13.01.2022 Once a month the team try to get together and play a card game or two, I guess in way a night to get to know each other better. This month was vital as we have ...a large amount of new faces on board and it allows our team to get to know each other better. On these nights, I find that I sit back and take these guys all in, they are all so different. Some of the crew are extroverts while others are the introverts but somehow, they all just click and work together. They are often on these nights more like a dysfunctional family, a bunch of individuals whom have the ability to laugh, they laugh at each other, they laugh at themselves but chuckle they do. I see these guys for a large amount of my life, some I spend more time with than anyone else in my life, they are incredible people, people that make mistakes, individuals that strive day after day to get better at what they do. I see their passion for what they do increase as they become more aware of what is important and that is you. I hope from a customer’s perspective you see this change; you can see how each and every week, they try to improve and make your visit even more memorable. We are a passionate bunch of people; we love what we do. We love priding ourselves in amazing customer service, beautiful smooth creamy coffee, delicious food and you will always leave with a smile on your face and are satisfied in your meal and drinks. We are open until 5:00pm this afternoon and back open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from tomorrow.

12.01.2022 We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have had a stressful last two days, with a fryer issue and am awaiting a gas fitter to fix this issue. Yesterday,... right on lunch, the fryer decided it did not want to work anymore and I spent the most part trying to hold a button in and cook at the same time, to clear the current orders we had. Since this we have had no fryer at all, I am hoping that this issue will be fixed by the end of close today. We are still open, we still have a massive menu, filled with so many other items, that do not require the my friend the fryer. We still have amazing coffee and great service. See more

10.01.2022 This is one of the last posts that I will write for Amelia’s Place, as of about 4:00 pm on Monday I will no longer be apart of the daily Amelia’s Place team. I ...find that as the days head close to Monday, I am filled with a range of emotions. I will be happy to be able to have a day off, to take some time to see the sun and stop to do simple things in life. There is also this over whelming sense of sadness, I have invested so much into this place, emotionally, physically and in every way. One thing is for sure, this place has become a home to me for almost three years. There has been so much laughter, hard work, a fair share of tears and each and every day I was surrounded by people that felt like family. I have watched as many of my crew have grown up around me, I have had the absolute pleasure of developing so many of the future generation. I have tried to leave my footprint on them, helping them grow into the beautiful human beings that they are. On Monday night so many of us will gather and reminisce on the good, the challenges and the laughs that we had in taking a closed down café and making it into what it is today. The team we are, the dysfunctional family we have become and friends we have made for life, it will not be goodbye as such but more a thanks for being part of my journey and I will see them again. We have already planned BBQ’s and our famous games night. To all of my valued customers, it has been a joy to have cooked for you, to run and operate the café you have grown to love, to watch you grow as people, to watch your families grow and thank you for allowing me to display my drive, my passion and love for food and customer service. You will see my face around Chinchilla as in the foreseeable future some rest and relaxation are on the cards for the first few days before making any further life choices. Thank you for your support, I know thank you never appears to be enough but it is because of you that I have learned so much, laughed so much, made my days better and created such a brilliant atmosphere. Thank you for your custom, your friendship and allowing me into your family. My team and I will power out the next few days, we have some tables booked already and I will give you the same service and food that you have grown to love right up until the moment I leave. 09.01.2022 Today has been one of those days, where time just appeared to slip by so fast, I find myself doing the Facebook post, that I set out to achieve early in the day..., late at night. It was a busy weekend with a lot of our new faces onboard, learning what their role is and even when you think you have it all sorted, then a trainer will call in sick and all of sudden you are pushing these people into the deep end. I am always amazed at some people’s ability to be so resilient, to be able to learn as they go and the ability to learn from each mistake as they made it. I am sorry for any customers that experienced one of these mistakes, please know in a perfect world, we would have a trainer with each one, it was far from a perfect world but we made it through. Each mistake these guys made was picked up and they learned some very valuable lessons. Learning all the menu items just for start, was a challenge for many of these. There is one item on the menu that is always a clear favorite, the schnitzel. It is not the ordinary crumbed schnitzel with vegetables or salad. It is the schnitzels that are packed and loaded with a wide range of toppings. We have so many of these on the menu and to be perfectly honest with you, they look simply delicious when they are plated. Our burgers are always popular as well and with many choices available in these this enables a choice depending on what you feel like on the day. Our burgers really are tender, juicy and succulent and well worth a try. We strive to achieve a great reputation in what we do, I have a great team of people who really are like a family and I believe that this creates that friendly atmosphere. I watch time after time as these guys and girls really do everything that they can to work together as a team and most of the time, they have a ball doing what they do. We are open from tomorrow for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

08.01.2022 Some weeks have their frustrations and this week has it its fair share, like all things in life, you just have to keep moving forward, it is challenge to say th...e least to be training so many new staff (who are doing really well), unpack incoming stock and ensuring that everything is running smoothly. I would like to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for your patience in the last week as our new people learn the role that they have to do. In the café things have been running as usual, I have so much positive feedback on our meals and this is one thing that I constantly strive to achieve. Nothing leaves that kitchen without being created with the freshest ingredients, value for money and always made with passion and a love for food. The baristas have been busy training our new people of coffee, the multiple processes to this and ensuring that they have a passion for creating a beautiful smooth coffee. The gift shop has a range of new items in and I am trying to get them unpacked and put on the shelves as quickly as I can. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Tuesday up to and including Saturday and open until 4:00pm Sunday and 5:00pm Monday. We really do strive to achieve great service, amazing food and beautiful coffee, every single time you are here. I wish you all a wonderful week.
