11.01.2022 After almost three months of all the States saying they would update their plans for Skilled Migration after the Federal Budget was announced it seems the budget announcement has surprised everyone. So far a week after the budget announcement prioritized Partner visas and the Global Talent program none of the states have made any announcements about their plans. We knew covid was going to impact the job roles targeted for skilled migration but it seems now no one expected ...the shift away from the Regional focus that was driven by the development of the Skilled Work Regional 491 visa last year. With less places than expected for State nominated and independent visas it seems the states are taking a little longer to work out their plans for 20-21 migration. It’s highly like this means skilled visas will become even more competitive and could mean shorter windows to submit expressions of interest. This makes have a well-prepared and assessment ready complete application more important than ever. While we were hoping for the states to jump at the chance to reopen the expression of interest for state nomination it seems we might still have to wait a few weeks for before we get more news for skilled visa hopefuls.

08.01.2022 The Federal Budget for 2020-21 has been announced and it includes some interesting visa news. While the numbers show immigration to Australia will likely be a net negative for the first time since World War II in the coming year this isn’t surprising given the boarders are closed, there are no changes to the total cap of 160,000 places from last year's budget. But there are some very big changes within that cap. There are far more places for partner, global talent and bu...siness visas which means less places for everything else. Places for the Global Talent Independent program have tripled. This will very likely mean less places for other skilled visas. The large increase to Partner visas will leave less for other family visas like Parent visas. It is also possible the increase in Partner visas will be eaten up by a backlog of existing cases. For anyone wanting to stay permanently in Australia the visa classes that won at the budget are the Distinguished Talent 124 visa, Business Innovation and Investment 188 - 888 visas, Partner 820 801 visas. For all the other permanent visa classes it just got a little more competitive to secure your place.

08.01.2022 The application process for a student visa goes as follows: The first step is to apply to school/university (this is AMET Education’s specialty if you need any help); and successful receive an Offer Letter. Depending on the school you chose this might be between $10,000 ~ $45,000. The Confirmation o...Continue reading
