25.01.2022 Lots of that stuff around... do not touch

25.01.2022 Did a board repair of sorts today... Working well for the owner... Then tonight i get a Coffee machine that appears to have been using tap water and NO FILTERS.... Every second valve and fitting and heating block = scale. And a lack of full maintenance...

25.01.2022 Approx 18 months old water proof MineLab Excalibur II The best machine for the beach - WET and DRY or Shallow wading once you get to know it. PLUS, this model is great for diving as it has an 8" coil.... I need to consolidate and focus and thus this machine needs to go to a good home. If your after A beach and wet sand unit, see my other add for an Excal with a 15"coil. The 8" may not punch as deep as some but is easier to use when Snorkeling or Diving. AND the 8" is more likely to find fine gold chains that the larger coils. $1195 plus postage AND comes with the short diving lower shaft AND yes it will find GOLD nuggets on the Gold Coast beach - If you are in the right area. PS. The Excal II with the 15"coil is still available

25.01.2022 This weekend...

24.01.2022 For all those ctx 3030 fans...

23.01.2022 The International Mine Action Standards (IMAS): It has been a while since I have sat down and tried to read and digest, one or more detailed standards. And while the technical aspects involved and implied physics, with using a metal a detector, is not new to me. It was the levels of uncertainty that clearly highlighted the significant impact that even minor variations in soil and or other environmentals has. It is second nature to take the uncertainty on board when detecting ...in general. It is all about the variables and unknowns, but does it matter if I get a few false Positive or a few Negatives (target not detected), you do not know what you do not know :-) As one who relies upon calibration and high levels of confidence to do one's job effectively and efficiently. It leaves me totally speechless, when it comes to all those who are involved in the detection and management of all mines. False Positives may slow you down, but a Negative can put a FULL STOP on everything. To all those in the Countermine world, Swing low and slow, remain focused and STAY SAFE. #quality #training #uncertainty #focus

23.01.2022 For those interested - My experiences with this unit are being posted on this site. Feel free to have a look..

23.01.2022 Sometimes a recovery is not about gold. Access to this was critical to a business. No payment for the find ...... But they are a permission and always pays to help out. An Electrical box under blue metal and bits of cut off reo and many layers of tarp with lots of big brass eyelets

22.01.2022 Well not quite detecting, but had to check for bits of lead and then work out the best way forward... UUmmmmm FRESH PORK

22.01.2022 Had a few dramas and some head scratching but she is all up and running... Should see if I can make a batch of Freeze Dried Coffee granules :-)........

21.01.2022 Did a different recovery today... Native bees, from a water meter... All too many select these as hives as not enough older trees of size around... Then some people think they are dangerous and will sting... Or they get in the way of the meter reader and they get destroyed... ... Had to baby sit for 3 hrs ( until about 18.00 ) until most came home. With some good management and good luck; they will thrive.

21.01.2022 What can I say... Well maintained and never been off road.. Is at home or in the car or the van = Yea... heard that b4. Temp display not stable and about 6C to 8C out of wack... A: covers removes... Yep well maintained and clean - NOT ... B: board looked good but a few possible dry joints etc C: Temp sensor NTC 10K at 25C measured close ... A clean up and some work and wire in a new sensor and much better... Old sensor gave same issue. Can we pull down and do a direct replacement of the sensor= NO. So cut the old one out and run then new one in... Owner did the final fixing of said sensor to ensure the inner basket did not clash and that BEER temps would be spot on.. This weekend will tell all but she is looking great..

20.01.2022 1 x Excalibur II Units for sale. ( The 10"one has been sold) Approx 12 to 18 months old water proof MineLab Excalibur II Great for the beach or diving once you get to know them. I have 1 for sale as I need to consolidate and focus.... Excalibur II but has a WOT 15" coil fitted. The 15" WOT was for wet and dry sand. The 15" punches deeper and covers more ground. Unit A**** $1295 as WOT coil adds to the functionality and recovery on dry sand. plus Postage Great for finding Gold Nuggets on the Gold Coast beaches :-)

20.01.2022 I love it when 2 or more hobbies can combine... Just finished hulling some of my washed coffee beans and had to do the same to the naturals. But as the dried pulp is bigger and heaver off the naturals, the wind method (had to use a fan) of separation did not work so well. So out came the Detecting Beach scoop A job well done and after some more drying time, some good coffee to be had. The washed seems to be a lighter bean and easier to separate.. The proof will be in the ...cup... Two Micro lots for 2017 - MelroseLaneN & MelroseLaneW

18.01.2022 Brisbane based Beach Scoops... Diferent sizes and a quality product as I understand... http://www.ebay.com.au//SITO-200mm-Wide-2-0m/262976006160

17.01.2022 If only I could make a few $ rather than cover cost. Another 1 repaired and going home and another just arrived. A NICE 2 group Exopbar. And a EM6910 to be rebuilt and a MS XBOX medial player MOB repaired and a happy customer.

17.01.2022 Fishing / Metal Detecting / Hunting 1001 variables that make it exciting. People are diferent, same same and Dunning Kruger at play.

16.01.2022 One very piss off owner of a recently purchased secondhand machine, left with a better understanding. And I think the previous owner was also caught as he sold it as being too hard to use. They did not know what they did not know.. A word of warning, if your looking at a second hand CTX3030 or any machine. Take special note of the condition of the coil restraint !!!! If the coil restraints are bent over and some are hard bent over; then expect to buy a new coil sooner rather ...than later... And if the coil is stored like those below AND the shaft is extended, risks are even higher.. One of these below was only months old and was replaced under warranty :-) And if your own coil is like this, then a good chance loss of sensitivity and other issues around less than ideal performance. But as it sneaks up on you; you may not notice until it becomes unusable. Many do not notice until a Coil Not detected OR it goes very noise when wet or super touchy in salt water. While it is a simple 5 min mod to the CTX3030 shaft to ensure it does not happen. I am amused at the lack of engineering thought that went into this at the design stage AND can only assume ML marketing people had some say... And then After Market people fell for the same big fault, with their shafts, and missed a golden opportunity. Long story short - The cable sheath is pulled and flexed with movement and either cracks or pulls away at the base of the epoxy. Moisture of any sort gets in and verdigris / copper cancer is introduced and the outcome is Terminal. Seen so many it is just frustrating...While many under warranty, they are not cheep to replace. A coil should last 5 to 7 years or longer of solid hard detecting and only break under sever stress.

16.01.2022 Needed a tolet stop for both of us. Parked and by the time we came out $91 fine.... Noosa... Rear end in....... Such is life....

15.01.2022 Have a number of MineLab Koss UR30 headphones For Sale. One unit has the option of 3.5mm or 6.3mm socket. All others are 6.3mm . These are all Used and Refurbished and had a good quality right angle plug to reduce stress and or chance of damage.... 11.01.2022 Alex Derrick recognise this bird....

10.01.2022 This is the lathe that I use when making up the C/Fiber shafts for the CTX3030 metal detector. Some of the stuff this guy makes is amazing, including surfboards :-) I just drop around during quite times, when I need a bigger wood lathe than I have at home. Russ Kirk Alex Derrick Nenad John Lonic Tony Den

10.01.2022 Latest edition to the tools arrived. Thanks to Nenad John Lonic from PaseTechnical. Just need some time to play.

10.01.2022 What can I say... Some more loving and another great machine rescued . Some one set the Steam to 1.6 and the Safety valve was blowing off .... Group seal was like little bricks of hard rubber, shower screen was almost fully clogged and OPV set to about 12bar. Just waiting on a new Si Group seal and should be all good to go with corrected settings and some TLC. Contact me if you are interested as the owner may be looking to sell.. A nice compact unit.

10.01.2022 Forgot about this guy LOL

10.01.2022 3 x Sprong Coffee grinders to go.... The #1 and #2 have trays, the #4 has no tray... Would be great to see all go to the same place for display and if any one has a #3 and #00 then they would have a full set.... Postage is a PITA due to weight BUT I am happy to deliver within the CBD or can drop down to GoldCoast or up the Sunshine coast at some stage... Send me a PM with your best offer for which one; if your interested.. I will review offers by COB next Tuesday 17th July.

09.01.2022 Yep... Bull sharks = They love dirty water... So if your out detecting some of teh flooded creeks or in dirty runoff.. Be aware...

08.01.2022 Thanks to Brett H and his wife: new sensor fitted and some dry joints in the PID repaired. The beast is looking like all is good but time will tell.

07.01.2022 Two on the bench and need to make space for other jobs. EM 7000 was a piece of cake... User abused the steam wand and kinked the internal ptfe tubing. Bezzera is a pita. Ordered e61 parts and did not get what i needed so had to use other parts from other kits. ... The anti vac valve was playing up... where is it ? built into the preasurestat and can only buy the module... Both units should be ready by midday Friday.. Give me an Exobar any day.

05.01.2022 Did you know that Australia holds the Guinness World Record for the largest and most valuable gold coin? It weighs one tonne, has a legal tender value of $1 million but, is made of 99.99 per cent pure gold... So in reality it's worth more than $50 million. Click for more fun facts

04.01.2022 Been an interesting month. 2 x QPS searches 4 different detectors to repair. ... 2 centrifuges, an acid covered hotplate and an Autoclave. 2 x ML pinpointers 1 x Garrett At pinpointer LED lights and Hatches in the Tvan. 2 x Native bee recovery And tec screws in tires.... Such is retirement..... Need some time out lol.

03.01.2022 Another Service / Rebuild. 1: OPV set to 8.5bar. What they set Prosumer machines to 12 Bar I have no clue. Most have cheep grinders and not the best beans, thus 12bar is just going to push through water at a great rate of knots = Crappy coffee.... 2: New Group seal = First change it has ever had I think 3: Service the Anti Vac valve and stop rubbing on teflon tube... Potential fail there. 4: Tweak the temp to give a good steam and a reasonable shot temp. Was running about 1.4bar (126.28C) and dropped it to 1.1bar ( 122C). A short flush needed depending on resting time between shots. 5: Chemical clean and a spit and polish..

01.01.2022 The Lady has been collected and we will await feedback. Sorry about the Mirror effect but she got a bit of a spit and polish as well. Brett - Fill rate and Noise ?

01.01.2022 Audiophiles... They need to get their hearing tested.... Board 3 of 5 to be worked on and am over it.... But the smell of solder and flux is good.
