08.01.2022 Love my groomer
07.01.2022 I was very impressed when I took my dogs to Paws Zone on Friday. The grooming was excellent and the staff listened to and understood my instructions. After the ...grooming we were offered a chance to try out the ‘Day Care’ facility. My dogs have social anxiety and are not normally very good with other dogs and people; however, seeing them already so comfortable around the staff I thought I would give it a go. They absolutely loved it! The staff were very friendly and are passionate about dogs. They made sure that my dogs could cope with the other dogs and were supervised the whole time. They also sent me photos though out the day showing me what my dogs were up to and how they were coping. Not only did I love seeing what my dogs were up to, it also helped to reassure me that my dogs were safe, making friends and having fun with the other dogs. When I collected them I could see my dogs were happy and relaxed. I will definitely bring my dogs there again soon. Thank you Paws Zone!!

To their pet parents, thank you for your continued patronage, referrals and friendship. We are indeed grateful. - Andy, Ira, Matt & Maxi
07.01.2022 LEPTOSPIROSIS ALERT TO ALL PET-PARENTS IN EASTERN MELBOURNE **Follow this post and share with other local pet-parents for more updated information as we find ou...t more.** **11th Nov Update: We are getting quite a few questions on vaccination. The answer is yes we do offer vaccination. At this stage, we are recommending it on a case by case basis. If you are interested to find out more, please call our hospital & emergency centre on: (03) 8595 6655 between 8am to 8pm.** In the last week we have had a confirmed diagnosis of Leptospira interrogans (italics) serovar Copenhageni in a dog living local to the Maroondah area. Although he and his family fought hard, sadly the dog was extremely unwell due to both liver and kidney failure and unable to be saved. We do not know of other confirmed cases in Eastern Melbourne, however, it is possible that the disease is being seen but not confirmed. ***Leptospirosis can cause severe illness in people, can be lethal in dogs and cats and infect many different mammals. *** Because of the severity of disease this bacteria causes, as well as its ability to spread between people and animals, all cases must be reported to the Department of Agriculture immediately. This bacteria is more commonly seen in the humid conditions of Northern Queensland, and quite rarely seen in the southern states. However, in the past few months, there has been a spike of cases confirmed in central Sydney and now the Bayswater and Maroondah area. At this stage, we have created a brief infographic to help you reduce the risk of exposure to your beloved pet. We sincerely hope we don’t see any more cases in the near future. Rest-assured we are surveilling the situation extremely carefully to make sure we keep your pets safe and healthy. We will be updating this post regularly to keep you in the loop. **Please share this post and spread awareness if you know of any pet parents in Eastern Melbourne.** If you want to learn more, please refer to: https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au//Conditi/Leptospirosis https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//fa/Pages/leptospirosis.aspx Or contact our 24/7 vets on-site vet hospital in Ringwood: (03) 8595 6655 or your local veterinarian.
06.01.2022 Leptospirosis Update Recently you may have seen posts on social media about two confirmed cases of leptospirosis in dogs in the local area. Leptospirosis is... a bacterial infection that is spread by rodents such as rats and mice. Dogs can be infected either through exposure to water or food contaminated with rat urine or via direct contact from a rat bite or eating an infected rat. Once infected, the disease can cause a variety of signs such as fever, diarrhoea and vomiting but in severe cases can lead to kidney and liver failure and prove fatal. It also has the potential to be spread to humans with similar serious consequences, so all cases must be taken seriously. In Victoria leptospirosis is considered rare and despite these two recently confirmed cases, at this point in time this fact remains true. Thankfully there is a vaccine available for dogs in at risk areas that may provide some protection against the disease. Previously this vaccine has not been a part of our vaccination protocol at the clinic due to the rarity of the disease in Victoria; however, given the local nature of recent cases we now have the vaccine available at the clinic as an option. *** It is important to note that not all dogs will require the vaccination, but it should be considered for those who may be at risk *** These risk factors include: - Dogs living in the Ringwood or Bayswater area (locations of the two confirmed cases). - Dogs exposed to areas of stagnant / pooled water. - The presence of rodents in areas which dogs have access to. Aside from vaccination there are other important ways to minimise the risk for your dog such as: - Preventing your dog from drinking or swimming in pools of stagnant or slow moving bodies of water. - Ensuring no food or rubbish is left out that may attract rodents to your property and if rodents are present instigating appropriate pet safe rodent control. To discuss the vaccination and disease further please contact the clinic on 9762 3177 to arrange an appointment with a veterinarian and they will be able to assist in answering any questions or concerns you may have. We will ensure you are all kept up to date if there are any further developments on the matter
