09.01.2022 Buying a property in Queensland - who is responsible for what and when? In Queensland, contrary to the practice adopted in some other States, the REIQ contract provides that the property is at the risk of the buyer from 5 pm on the first business day after the contract date. It is very important that buyers protect their interest in the property by arranging appropriate insurance over the property. A buyer should contact their broker or insurer as soon as they sign the contact (as they may not always be notified immediately that the seller has counter-signed the contract) to arrange cover for the property.

03.01.2022 The top 10 tips for keeping your home safe these school holidays With school holidays coming up, you may be packing up and heading away for a well-earned break and leaving your house unattended for days or weeks at a time. The following tips will help keep your property safe and provide you with peace of mind when you are away. 1. Cancel any regular deliveries and arrange for your neighbours to collect your mail and to put your bins in and out... 2. Install timing switches on your lights to turn on and off at specific times 3. Don’t broadcast your absence on social media 4. Keep valuables out of sight and don’t leave them where they can be seen through a window 5. Leave your curtains open and your blinds up 6. Lock all doors and windows and don’t forget the garage 7. Ensure that all ladders and any tools that will help thieves break into your house are locked away 8. Keep your garden tidy, if you are away for an extended period, arrange for someone to come and mow your lawns 9. Ask a neighbour to park in your driveway occasionally 10.
