17.01.2022 My goodness it was fabulous to play a gig today! The good news is, if you missed it and would like to see it, you can still get a ticket and watch it at a time of your choosing https://facebook.com/events/s/live-old-songs-from-the-ballar/617567095514562/?ti=cl

17.01.2022 I do love wandering around art museums and soaking up centuries of artistic endeavour. While Covid19 has made this impossible for the time being, the wonderful result is the many virtual tours of the world's biggest galleries. I just popped into the Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and wandered around its pink hallways and rooms looking at religious icons, 17th century portraits, avant-garde paintings and post-impressionist works. 17.01.2022 Amanda Palmer has just released the first episode of her new podcast. It's beautifully crafted, interesting, thought provoking, and very human. I've just listened to the first episode and highly recommend it.

17.01.2022 Lockdown is not all bad. I've been working on a digital-collaborative-online-community-song-project with the City of Whittlesea and it's just been published on their snazzy new Arts webpage. I don't know how to post to the video directly, but the link will take to you to it and you can listen/watch to the song. http://arts.whittlesea.vic.gov.au//community-online-song-/

16.01.2022 A very worthwhile conversation on the meaning, importance, role and dichotomies of art with writer Olivia Laing at the Edinburgh Book Festival. Thanks, Libby, for alerting me to it. https://www.edbookfest.co.uk//olivia-laing-art-is-politica

15.01.2022 A year ago I decided to write a daily blog dedicated to things that make me happy. Being a leap year, today - 366 - marks the end. I usually write at the end of the day and it has become a lovely daily habit to find something that makes me smile before slipping into bed. I've found it fascinating to watch the process develop - finding photos and ideas and sentences that I like, and to now look back at the hundreds of things that have made me happy over the past year. 15.01.2022 This tiny little spider caught the light and my attention as it diligently spun her thread while dangling from the kitchen lamp. Such an elegant creature, dancing on a string, with her long legs moving with precision and grace. Up and down, round and round she worked on a thread so light it almost wasn't there at all. https://amiebrulee.com.au//happiness-as-anarchy-365-spinn/

12.01.2022 How does one make Crème Brûlée? Here's a little something I cooked up last night after dinner ... https://soundcloud.com/amiebrulee/creme-brulee

08.01.2022 It was so nice to play a gig on the weekend - the first one since the Melbourne Ukulele Festival in March. Gorgeous day, beautiful setting, lovely people, and delicious food and wine - couldn't have asked for more! Thanks for having me The Blackbird Newstead and Welshmans Reef Vineyard. Thanks for the video, Ed

05.01.2022 I think it's time I raised the calibre of my shoes.

04.01.2022 There's a spot on the couch for you this Sunday afternoon - songs from the old movies with stories of the cinema in Ballarat. Including my family connection to the Britannia Picture Theatre

04.01.2022 Le poulet parfait, auparrement

02.01.2022 Walking is a wonderful way to sort out ideas. I have solved many more problems while walking than I have sitting at my desk. In fact, most of the tricky bits in my PhD were nutted out that way. The walking phase is now embedded into my intellectual process and, although I may appear to be mad, I find talking out loud while I walk is the most effective way. 02.01.2022 I've saved you a seat on the couch. Won't you sit down beside me on Sunday afternoon?
