21.01.2022 We're full steam ahead with planning for our block two filming! 80% of the film is shot and it's looking amazing!! Soon we're going to start profiling all our sponsors and the wonderful local businesses, individuals and organisations who've been supporting us so far. We couldn't make this film without the help we've been receiving. It's not too late to be a part of it, this final round of filming really needs a budget push: Do you have $500 or $1,000 you could contribute? Do you know anyone who does? Please help us spread the word. Please put people in touch to donate directly in cash or in kind, or you can donate any amount at any time here: www.gofundme.com/amissa-anima More updates soon.

10.01.2022 Repost It’s a rough ride to speak up about childhood abuse. Especially that of your own. It costs family relationships and friends alike while navigating traum...a memories that no person let alone a child should have to endure. Accusations range from...just get over it, fucktard greenie, your crazy, your lying, attention seeking, manipulative, to the more recent.... wait for it... he’s in it for the money. And yes direct family can be the greatest offenders. Who’d have thought your own family would be an abuse survivors greatest adversary. Yet sadly it’s a familiar occurrence as in this type of family dysfunction lies and accusations rule. One of the great difficulties a survivor faces is explaining trauma. As the vocabulary of victim or survivor is often the first target on an abusers list. Any scintilla of truthful dialog by the victim/survivor is aggressively pounced upon by abuser culture. In effect the abuser and their gang mercilessly mentally and verbally box their target into submission. This toxic behaviour is expected to be used against the target by the abusers enabler and any bystanders who might dare to get involved. The victim/survivor is often rendered voiceless and forced to live a masked existence while neglecting true development of the self. Eventually there’s little incentive to speak openly about the abuse as it’s so psychologically painful. Much to the delight of the abuser, victims often become their own worst enemy. All number of illnesses manifest as the victim/survivor seeks to dull the pain. Many victims make the ultimate choice to end their lives simply to bring an end to the hate voices playing over and over in their minds. The flashbacks only further traumatise as they recall the most painful of rejection from those meant to love and care the most. Sadly I lived for 50 plus years in a state of victim/survival. Flashbacks tormented me daily as I attempted to make sense of them only to have them vanish into the black. Miraculously enough of my adult self learned to stay onboard while enduring these brutal horror show clips. This lead to the adult part of me asking a series of beautiful questions. Like why am I still recalling particular ‘like it happened yesterday’ events from over 50 years ago? and what was it I supposedly did that caused such a targeted rejection as a 5yo from within my family? The conclusion was yes it’s abnormal to be recalling such memories daily and that there was absolutely nothing I’d done that made me responsible for such a level of hatred. After 50 confusing years I now understand. I’d become a survivor. Yes my abuse was from within my family. Bill Gent my abuser was a very unwell person who endured a tragic death. An advertising art director with an out of control life. Clearly as a child he’d been traumatised but had rejected support. Choosing to dull the pain with alcohol like a steel trap he left few clues. Only that his childhood had connections to the abused hot spot of Ballarat East. For support if you follow this link you can check your own or someone you care for level of adverse childhood experiences known as an ACE score. https://www.npr.org//take-the-ace-quiz-and-learn-what-it-d I score 9 out of 10 and in a twisted way I’m very proud of having survived such a level of abuse committed behind closed doors. For this reason I chose to change my name from Gavin Gent to Jack Curl or Curly as some know me as. Curl or Curly reflects imagery of ongoing healing like when every wave finds its shore theres chaos that then becomes renewed. For me this shoreline in the physical world mimics the heart sending waves of blood to every micro beach within. Many thanks to all for making a conscious choice to join in with my healing. There’s grounded science behind the name change process. It’s called neuroplasticity or the ability for the brain at any age to relearn. In conclusion I was directed to submit my evidence to The Victorian Victims of Crime Tribunal. I will admit it was a difficult journey that’s ongoing. And I can fully understand why traumatised people don’t report the crimes they’ve endured. However, I believe sincerely, to remain silent paves the way for abusers and the culture to continue abusing. I chose to speak not only for my self but my mother and any child or adult child of abuse. Follow this link for guidance www.blueknot.org.au If your considering reporting or you know someone is considering it. Please reach out for support from your community. You’ll be amazed at the love that complete strangers have for you. The other day I was recognised by VOCAT for having had multiple crimes committed against me from childhood to now. VOCAT represents the communities compassion towards victims of crimes and seeks to support the recovery of the victims plight. I claimed reimbursement for money I’d spent on my own medical recovery and for further ongoing medical support. Such as neurofeedback and rapid eye movement treatment. This was viewed as appropriate and has been awarded by the tribunal. I’d like to thank publicly the many wonderful people who’ve stuck by me in possibly the most worst of circumstances during my journey for justice. It is rough justice but justice nonetheless. Take care...Curly

05.01.2022 There’s so much we want to share, but can’t yet. So here’s a really obscure (but in an esoteric abstract way, kind of interesting) pic from our shoot today at Docklands Studios! Plus a shot of our tiny, lonely, hauntingly-real little set in the studio after we wrapped.
04.01.2022 Day one down. Can't wait to share some of the footage. But for now, much planning is being done. Many phone calls are taking place. There's rain, there's thunder. Oh the metaphors but as the forecast is for the rain to pass and clear this afternoon, we hope also for our plans. Plan A: Same location, same call time at this stage for everyone. ... If we make any changes for Day 2's filming today (18 Jan). We will notify everyone by 3.30pm. Plan B: No child cast. St Kilda & Elwood locations as advised. Cast likely only to be PAUL. tbc. If you're working on the production - please join our private group as we'll start by posting any updates or changes to plan there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/amissaanima
01.01.2022 Here's a swing. Here's a roundabout. That's kind of the zone we're in. If you want to make it more swing and less roundabout (or is that the other way round?), feel free to help with our crowdfunding campaign. Can't tell you how much we need a few extra dollars: https://www.gofundme.com/amissa-anima
