24.01.2022 A very sad day at Amitabha TMs saying farewell to a special old girl. Jorja (Amitabha Gold Star) was from our very first litter out of Atisha and Merlin. Jorja turned 13 last month. Jorja was a very protective girl and was the most tremendous and dedicated mother to the 10 puppies that she gave us. Run free my beautiful black panther. Until we meet again ...

16.01.2022 2020 Litter plans - We are planning a litter with 2 of our homebred TMs named Tauriel and Idak. Tauriel is from our 2015 litter from Freya and Indy. Idak is from our 2017 litter from Arwen and Aragorn. We are drawing on some of the strengths in our traditional TM lines, particularly beautiful stable temperaments, good health, longevity, good structure, substance and balance. Tauriel (Aust Champion Amitabha Star Attraction) is the female version of her father Indy (Am Ch Ind...y Shang-Hai Narpo Ransi) with her shiny black coat with stunning cream tan markings. Tauriel does also take after her beautiful mum Freyja (Am Aust Ch Shang-Hai's Frejya for Amitabha) with her easy going nature and willingness to please her people. Also like Freyja, Tauriel is a good size girl at about 27" tall. She is very playful yet is also a natural mother, showing wonderful maternal instincts with our younger dogs. Tauriel's pedigree is predominantly black and tan, but with the grey/blue gene possible. Idak (Aust Champion Amitabha My Precious Find) is also an impressive shiny Black and Tan male standing close to 31" tall. Idak is still relatively young but sports a stunning head with a structure that holds great promise. Idak is our son Morgan's dog. He is a happy friendly male but very protective of his owner. Idak is the product of 4 imports, one of those as frozen semen, from the USA. While Idak is Black and Tan like his dad Aragorn, he does have 3 gold grandparents including Ozzie and Isis. This means that genetically, we may score some gold pups from Tauriel and Idak. More photos of parents and other dogs in their pedigree will be organised into an album soon. Health testing has been done on both potential parents with Hip and Elbow scoring and Thyroid function tests. Early reservations highly recommended!

16.01.2022 Our beautiful litter of pups from Kali (daughter of Freyja and Cascade) and Po (son of Isis and Ozzie owned by Keri Nichols) are now approaching 3 months old. We still are looking for the right homes for 3 boys (2 gold and 1 B&T) and a B&T girl. 15.01.2022 LITTER UPDATE - Unfortunately Tauriel hasn't fully come into season. She started and then went back out. There is a chance she may come back in soon, but we will have to wait and see. Frustrating but all out of our control.

08.01.2022 Amitabha owners in Brisbane and surrounding area - looking to have a catch up on Saturday 4 January meeting at CT White Park near Storey Bridge Hotel around 4:30-5:00pm for a walk around Kangaroo Point to South Bank and back possibly incorporating a picnic or food. Who is keen?

07.01.2022 BLACKHAWK FOOD RECALL Please check your best before dates on the following products. It is apparently contributing to illness in dogs including diarrhea. You can find the dates of affected bags and who to contact with concerns through the following link: https://blackhawkpetcare.com//black-hawk-dog-food-voluntar If your dog is experiencing diarrhea, please feed them boiled white rice with cooked chicken (no bones or skin) until their tummy settles for a full 24+ hours. You may wish to seek treatment from your vet if severe or symptoms don't settle. I will explore alternative food options for dog owners looking for a different product and will update soon. Blackhawk available in stores currently is likely to not be affected.

Maybe she wanted to be sure that things would open up with Covid to ensure that her pups will be able to make it to their new homes. We will expect to be mating her with Idak in the next couple of weeks. Will keep you updated! 01.01.2022 Alternative Food Suggestions I have looked at a few suggestions of foods with low protein but with suitable vitamins and minerals and appropriate nutritional value. Please note that I have not tried any of these as yet, but have had people suggest them to me. Meals for Mutts - Salmon and Sardine with Vegetables and Coconut Oil (Large Breed Kibble) - currently about $110 for a 20kg bag delivered by Pet Circle... Lifewise (maker is the guy who originally developed Blackhawk but then sold to multinational) - there are 3 varieties that sound okay: Ocean Fish Large Bites; SAP Fish with Rice, Oats and Vegetables; SAP Turkey with Rice Oats and Vegetables Availability of this is much more limited as it is quite new. For those in Brisbane, it is sold through Pets Unleashed, 630 Wynnum Rd, Morningside If you try any of these, please let us know what your TM thinks.
