04.01.2022 *****UPDATE***** A #COVIDSafe industry restart Metropolitan Melbourne is moving to the Third Step of Victoria’s roadmap for reopening. From 11.59pm on Tuesday 27 October, the following changes will apply to businesses.... Melbourne’s cafes, restaurants and pubs can reopen - outdoors with a limit of up to 50 people, and indoors with a limit of up to 20 people. Remaining retail can open and beauty and personal care services can resume. Outdoor entertainment venues can begin hosting visitors. Density limits, record keeping and COVIDSafe Plans continue to apply to all businesses. For those businesses that need to get ready for their reopening staff will be able to attend onsite immediately. These workers will not be required to carry a Permitted Worker Permit. Workplaces will no longer need to be on the permitted work list to open and the ability to work will change to if you can work from home you must work from home. For now, the 25-kilometre limit and the border between regional Victoria and Melbourne will remain. Permitted Worker Permits will still be required for workers from Melbourne travelling into regional Victoria and vice versa. Meanwhile, in regional Victoria, Greater Shepparton has now come back into alignment with the rest of regional Victoria. From 11.59pm on Tuesday 27 October, all of regional Victoria will see indoor gyms and fitness spaces open for up to 20 people, indoor pools open for up to 20 people, and food courts reopen. Live music will also resume as part of outdoor hospitality and tour vehicles that support the primary outdoor offering of a tourism facility can operate for trips of up to 30 minutes. Looking ahead, from 8 November, subject to case numbers, the 25-kilometre limit will come off and the border between the city and the rest of our state will also fall away, bringing Melbourne and regional Victoria back to the same level of restrictions. At this time, Melbourne will see the capacity of pubs and restaurants increase (up to 40 people inside and 70 people outside), gyms and indoor fitness will reopen with strict safety precautions in place, and accommodation will reopen.
