24.01.2022 TEAM AMMA BIKE RAFFLE You probably haven't heard much about our competitive Karate team Team AMMA this year, as tournaments in general for the most part were called off due to COVID. The kids didn't stop training hard, though, and Coach Shane took this time to focus on their fitness, strength, and agility, ready to come back better than ever next year! ... Now, with things finally starting to open back up again, Team AMMA is faster, stronger, and more determined than ever to take on 2021 and everything it brings competition-wise! So, with that in mind, the kids are fundraising for their competition fees, to help more of our little stars have the chance to show the world what they're made of! We are raffling off this FLIGHT Road Bike, ever-so generously donated by the beautiful Randall family for our fundraiser! Tickets are $1 each, and available for purchase via the Team AMMA kids, or from reception at the dojo. Out-of-area people are welcome to participate, however if you win the prize it will be your responsibility to come and pick it up! If any families or businesses would be willing to donate prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, please get in touch via Facebook, via email at [email protected], or with Kara in reception at the dojo! 22.01.2022 S A N C H I N The foundation of Uechi-Ryu Karate. In Uechi-Ryu, the kata Sanchin is the foundation for all that follows. It is the most important Uechi-Ryu kata. It builds and strengthens all muscles of the body. ... There is a karate legend about three mythical gods known to be the best fighters in all of China. They were the gods of eyes , breathing , and posture . Individually they would be defeated, however when fighting together they were undefeatable. When studying Sanchin one must strive to master these same three characteristics. To master only one or two does not provide a complete defense, it is like building a house on two thirds of a foundation.

15.01.2022 Last week we celebrated our first ever Kindy Karate Grading! The Kindy kids got the chance to invite their parents into class and show them how much they've learned this term! The Kindys demonstrated their abilities to count in Japanese, perform different types of punches, kicks, and blocks, show off their strength with push-ups and sit-ups, show how much they've improved at balancing, and most importantly show their parents how focused, committed, and respectful they are in ...class! The kids all received yellow tips on their white belts, with the exception of Luca who received a special white and yellow belt as he recently turned 6 so will be moving up to Tigers class next term, and can officially begin grading as a Tiger! We had a great grading, and can't wait to see how much each and every student has improved by the next one! 07.01.2022 REMINDER TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS Please bring your own equipment, PARTICULARLY DRINK BOTTLES, to classes as we cannot lend out equipment due to COVID safety precautions. This includes gloves, shinpads, weapons, uniforms, etc We no longer have cups in the kitchen for drinking, if your child does not have a drink we will provide them with a bottle of water from our shop for $2 which you will owe us next time they are in! All students must bring a drink with them to class (or bu...y a drink when they get here) as it is ESSENTIAL to stay hydrated when training. Thank you!

Just like the older kids, our Kindy Karate kids now also have a belt and stripe system to work towards, to help teach them the importance of setting goals and working hard to achieve them! Our Kindy classes teach the little ones the basics and foundations of Uechi-Ryu Karate, ensuring that they are well and truly prepared to excel in the Tigers classes once they turn 6 ... Kindy grading system will be explained to the Kindy parents at a later date!
