22.01.2022 Anna and Vira bravely stand up for women and LGBTQIA+ people in the Ukraine. But their organisation, Sphere, has been subject to numerous violent attacks by gro...ups determined to intimidate them into silence. This INCLUDES the POLICE, who are guilty of hurling homophobic abuse. No one should be attacked for speaking up for their rights and the rights of others. Sign the petition today to call on Ukraine to bring Sphere’s attackers to justice. Show Anna, Vira and all women and LGBTQIA+ people in the Ukraine that you stand with them

20.01.2022 The Australian Capital Territory has today made a commitment to raising the age of criminal responsibility from 10 to 14 years old. This is a move that has the ...opportunity to make real systemic change for generations to come Now it's time for the rest of the country to follow this leadership. The longer jurisdictions wait, the longer little kids are exposed to the harmful conditions of prison. Take action below

15.01.2022 Ciham, a 15-year-old child had big dreams - she wanted to be a fashion designer, and loved Lady Gaga. Today, no one knows where she is, or if she is safe. Nine ...years ago the US born citizen was arrested attempting to flee Eritrea. She has not been seen since. Eritrea is a country notorious for imprisoning people in secret underground and subjecting them to torture and starvation. Her family can’t imagine how scared and alone she feels, and need YOUR help to find her. It only takes a minute to act, and it could make all the difference to this case!

15.01.2022 Mohammed Essam Al-Faraj was 15 when he was arrested as he was leaving a bowling alley in the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia in 2017. He was tortured into confes...sing to crimes linked to non-violent protesting, including attending a funeral at the age of 9. After being arrested, he was locked in solitary confinement, beaten and shackled until he signed a confession. He has never had a lawyer, despite his familys repeated requests which have been further delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. Mohammed was a child at the time of his alleged crimes and should not be facing a death sentence. Saudi Arabia promised the world in April that they would stop issuing death sentences for children. But Mohammeds case shows that their promises may have just been a PR exercise. Thats why, with your help, we are fighting for Mohammeds safe release. Thank you for supporting Mohammed.

15.01.2022 Another case of police violence. Another life changed forever Childcare worker Wendy Galarza was peacefully protesting a woman's murder when the police opened... fire and she was shot. In Mexico, women are often abused and killed for being women. No one has been held accountable for Wendy’s attack. Sign the petition now to call on the Mexican authorities to bring her attackers to justice. Stand with Wendy and help her get the justice she deserves

13.01.2022 Monday will be Saifullah Parachas 73rd birthday - his 16th locked up without charge or trial in Guantánamo Bay. He is the oldest person there. His health is wo...rsening and he recently suffered his third heart attack. The US Government wont charge him and let him clear his name in court. He is left to grow older and older in Guantánamo, which doesnt have the medical facilities to deal with its ageing population. But thanks to you, Saifullah knows he is not alone - on his birthday and everyday. Thank you for being part of the community fighting with him.

07.01.2022 ACT is leading the way.

07.01.2022 We would have been showing the film Scattered People at Ashgrove Library next week but unfortunately current restrictions mean that we could only have had eleven people in the meeting room so we are hoping to show it in November. In the meantime, please come and write some letters on behalf of people persecuted for their views (details in the event below).

06.01.2022 Speaking with a range of organisations in the nations capital today about our mistreatment of asylum seekers and refugees and delivering @amnestyaustralia petit...ions at Parliament calling for the freedom of all those detained offshore for 7 years and those in APODs to be provided community accommodation and medical treatment. The situation is dire, and unacceptable for this country to anyone who believes in equality, human dignity and fairness. On any view, after 7 years, we need to confront our actions and right the wrongs. See more

05.01.2022 Hussein Abo al-Kheir is a Jordanian father of 8 who travelled to work in Saudi Arabia so that he could support his family. He was arrested and tortured until he... signed a 'confession' that said he smuggled drugs into the Kingdom. Hussein has always maintained his innocence. He signed to make the torture stop. But his death sentence was made final last year. He could be executed any day now. Saudi leaders are considering eliminating the death penalty for people like Hussein later this year. Thanks to you, we're fighting to save Hussein's life and to make these reforms a reality. Thank you.

05.01.2022 Nasrin has been released for the time being but may be locked up again at any time. Please sign to help ensure that she never goes back to jail.

05.01.2022 Take a moment to flick through the photos on your phone. How many Zooms? Photos of family to keep in touch? Beautiful memories of years ago? How many importan...t calls? How much is keeping in touch with family, friends, life worth to you? How much more critical for refugees who havent seen family for 7yrs, then, who are locked up for 23 hrs a day? We talk about our mental health, the importance of community, reaching out to each other. And now we want to take mobiles from the most vulnerable people whove been in lockdown for 7 years? Abominable. The Bill to remove mobile phones from innocent immigration detention detainees currently in Parliament is inhumane. Where do we stop the cruelty? Leave their phones alone #NoPhonesNoLife Here is a petition to sign this morning: https://action.asrc.org.au/phones-are-a-lifeline

04.01.2022 Father Isaiah was tortured until he ‘confessed’ to murder. He was sentenced to death because of that ‘confession’ and could be executed any day now. Egypt ramp...ed up executions in the last month and hasn’t slowed down. The authorities hanged 41 people since October 3, bringing the total number of people executed in Egypt this year to 85. Father Isaiah could be next. But thanks to you, we’re fighting to challenge Father Isaiah’s torture and stop his execution. Thank you See more

She demanded immediate action from the Council to ensure the large-scale release of all detainees especially in light of the escalation of COVID-19 cases in Syria, information about the statuses and whereabouts of people in all places of detention, and an end to torture and impunity and serious steps to all perpetrators to account. #FreeDetainees #JusticeForSyria
