22.01.2022 Same for First Australians. Valuing the lives of people who have been historically oppressed does not detract from anyone else's life. It only says 'I (now) see you too'. Most of us never have to worry that if we stand too long in the same place in public that we'll draw attention to ourselves. Most of us never have to worry that a minor misdemeanour (like having a beer at the beach or in a park) might get us arrested. Most of us never have to worry if (or when) we will en...d up in jail. Most of us don't have to tip toe through life, hoping that we don't attract the wrong sort of attention to ourselves. Most of us never have to worry if we'll die in custody. It is a gracious gesture to acknowledge that some of our black brothers and sisters have this concern in the back of their minds. It is a gracious gesture to acknowledge that our world needs a new way.

Please be mindful that there is a second event out there in March - our event is February 20th and we'd appreciate your support in attending this session for the work we do in campaigning for the age of criminality for children to be raised from 10 years old.. making way for a lifetime in the system. 18.01.2022 Amnesty International Mackay is very saddened once again to hear of the senseless killings of innocent men, women, and children recently in Sri Lanka. "A time of prayer to pray for and remember all those who have died or been affected by the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka will be held at St Patrick’s Church in River St on Friday 26th April from 5.30pm 6.15pm. All are welcome." This is an multi-faith service held by Father Don White. Again, let us stand together against violence of all people holding different religious beliefs. Your attendance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
17.01.2022 Our friends at the Islamic Centre are having an open day in August. Please come along and enjoy their hospitality with guided tours and ending with a lovely dinner. Children are very welcome.

07.01.2022 How wonderful that we made the threshold to have the screening of In My Blood It Runs! We sold out in three days! It's been so popularly received by the Mackay community, that Birch Carroll & Coyle Mt Pleasant have upsized the theatre so we have another 90 tickets to sell. We're aiming to have at least 5 buyers with their +1 buy two tickets every day and we'll sell out again! But if you're a single, I've seen the guest list and there are plenty of single tickets coming along. So don't be shy, there's plenty of love to share at this event. We'd love to see you!
