24.01.2022 Each week we’ll be focusing on a different #W4R20 campaign. This week, the spotlight is on Popi and Bongeka. Friends Popi Qwabe, 24, and Bongeka Phungula, 28, were shot and killed in a suspected rape and murder. There was minimal investigation by the police, who ended up releasing the suspects, leaving their families hungry for justice. Click the link below to sign their petition and demand that the police of South Africa take gender-based violence crimes seriously. https://action.amnesty.org.au//w4r2020-popi-and-bongeka-so

22.01.2022 Can you live without your mobile phone? Imagine the social isolation without any contacts and communications with your family and friends. Now, the Government is proposing a new law that would ban mobile phones in immigration detention. Innocent people seeking asylum and refugees will be forced to share phones and computers during a global pandemic. It is going to badly impact on their mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. ... Make your phone call now and urge Senator Rex Patrick to oppose the Bill in the Senate. https://www.amnesty.org.au/act-now/phonepatrick/

17.01.2022 Jani Silva is an environmental defender, who fights for the conservation of the Amazon ecosystem. She is a brave woman; she is the voice of hundreds of peasants (campesinos) in the Colombian Putumayo region, who are silenced and threatened by illegal groups, the military, drug traffickers and multinational companies, all of whom dispute their territory, rich in natural resources and which has a strategic geographical position. Due to her work, Jani has received threats for ...opposing Amerisur's operations. She has been threatened with taking her and her family's lives if she continues to promote demonstrations for a healthy environment. Nevertheless, she keeps fighting. The origin of the threats is unknown. #W4R20 #AmnestyInternational https://www.youtube.com/watch
