13.01.2022 Though our theatres are dark, we are fortunate that construction on The Wharf is still moving full steam ahead. With our eyes set on returning to The Wharf, we...ve been reminiscing over past performances, our favourite productions, and those who have shaped Australian theatre that have emerged from that building. In recognition, we want to name three seats in the new theatres after someone in our STC community and we want you to help us choose! It could be an actor whose performance took your breath away, a writer whose words moved you to laughter or tears, or someone who has advocated passionately for the arts and theatre in Australia who should become part of the furniture? Submit your entry https://thewharf.sydneytheatre.com.au/suppo/name-your-seat/

04.01.2022 This excellent graphic by Origin8 Design Limited is an excellent demonstration of the complex network of relationships that make up the theatre industry. Its i...mportant to remember that the theatre industry is much bigger than that which an audience sees on the stage. For every show a theatre produces, an economy is created involving full time staff, casuals, freelancers, contractors, related industries such as hospitality and travel, and more. Everyone in this chain benefits from the income derived from a show, giving an indication of the theatre economys reach.
