25.01.2022 I spent my Friday night out at Evandale with some new friends. We spun fire and shot the stars and I have to say I'm thrilled with finding some like minded people to get out exploring with locally! To make these fire trails, you stuff steel wool into an egg whisk, light it and spin. All you need is a camera that can shoot longer exposures, a solid surface to rest on or a tripod and patience! It's an amazing effect and it allows hours of editing goodness in post! If you can, give it a go. Hours of fun for all! Of course, I took some heavy creative licence with my images as per the normal.

20.01.2022 I came across this gorgeous Protea in bloom frosty and pink whilst I was on my walk yesterday morning. What a gorgeous flower!! Will be trying some proper macro style shots of frost in the coming week.

17.01.2022 A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to make it out to Four Springs Lake with the camera club. This is the first time I've tried Galactic Core Photography and I have to say it was a ball! It requires patience as you try and try again, manual focus and long exposures. All things I can handle Needless to say, I'm thrilled with my first timer efforts. 17.01.2022 A friend recently encountered spider mites on her new strawberries. Of course I wanted to try some photos!! The mites leave this amazing webbing completely encasing some of the leaves and fruits. Like little microscopic highways that they run their eggs along and live in. 15.01.2022 In photography, light is everything. My photographic eye sees some of the simplest images consisting of light and shadows as both timeless and beautiful. Trees and leaves in the lower canopies are perfect subjects to shoot for this look on a sunny day. I was lucky enough to come across a few perfect examples on a recent walk. The color green offsets the shadows perfectly. This collection will grow as I continue my " Study in Dappled Light"
15.01.2022 So I finally got to tick off one of my bucket list of photos! The Ghost Mushroom! They are amazing! The occur mostly down the South East Coast of Australia, and seem to be more reactive when it is cooler and more wet. The bright green glow comes from a chemical reaction between fungal enzymes and oxygen. The mushrooms use luciferins, which is the same compound found in other bioluminescent organisms eg fireflies. The reaction is temperature dependent, and seems to be why they glow at night (it's cooler then). Bioluminescence attracts swarms of insects (like a moth to a flame). Without the insects, it could not spread it's spores to reproduce in other areas. I am SO happy I finally got to see these amazing mushrooms in real life, Tassie has been good to me so far!!

13.01.2022 Yesterday on a beautiful 25 degree day, a few clouds passed the sun and triggered a beautiful sun halo. This is caused by the sun's light refracting through a layer of thin misty cirrus cloud forming a rainbow circle around the sun. Such a beautiful sight in the middle of a hot day. #weather #australia #tasmania #clouds #rainbow #sun #amphotographicsau

09.01.2022 I was invited by the talented Caroline Daly Makeup Artist to contribute to a wonderful giveaway she was hosting a while ago. To win, you had to be nominated by a friend as someone whom really deserved a pampering. The winner received a fresh hair cut/style from Natalie Lucas. A makeover from Caroline and a glamour shoot from myself! So happy to say this beautiful soul was nominated and won! 07.01.2022 I've finally gotten some images ready for you all from the stunning #Scamander beach! What a breath taking sunrise this was. I could see the color from my lounge room when I initally got out of bed and had to grab the camera and my gymble quickly and run down to the beach! SO thankful I made it because WOW! I had to dial back the color in these images because it was so saturated. These are the moments I live for! This is what my love of photography is based on! 04.01.2022 The Tamar Wetlands is a nature preserve with a lagoon featuring a bird observation area located about 10 minutes from Launceston. It's a beautiful location that gets you closer to some of the gorgeous lagoon birds you might otherwise miss! Highly recommend checking it out if your local and haven't yet. The landscape is stunning and I decided an artist license was required on my shots.
