25.01.2022 Lovely Lilac | perfect for your girlfriend, mum, daughter or even you to bloom this season. This pollen pendant is handmade with love and available now @galleryofsmallthingscbr pop on in today or 11-4pm in December except Monday’s.

25.01.2022 This is @feinedinge1 which is a Porcelain manufacturer & shop in the heart of Margareten, 5th district, Vienna. I did take photos of the studio but their photo is much nicer as you get a long view of the studio with mould making and slipcasting areas. The kilns are behind and not in view. I chatted to the owner to learn its history and how sustainable they are by living in the area and being able to walk to work. While we can do that in Australia with smaller home studios, it’s rare to hear of a similar setup in the heart of a vibrant city. I was overwhelmed by the colours, designs and perfect casting shapes and need to go back to choose a piece or two to bring home.

24.01.2022 I’m excited and a little nostalgic as my last cockatoo is heading to a new home in Canberra. This handsome fellow was the result of a years work looking into bird life on the @sapphirecoastnsw in Australia. Made even more sadder was the enormous loss of bird life when we had the Dec 2019 and Jan/Feb 2020 bushfires that swept through and wiped out habitat and life. The saving grace was knowing that more recently black cockatoos have been relocating to Canberra and as far as Melbourne to find new homes. This is why I love birds and hope that we all begin to treasure our bird life as they are precious to our being, Anne xx photo @melhillphoto

23.01.2022 These are my little birds made with Australian porcelain and pierced so the light filters through their patterned body. They will be available tonight as part of a gallery swap with @galleryofsmallthingscbr and @cornerstoregallery So hop online to both their websites at 8pm and head to the online catalogue to see the artists featured from Canberra and NSW. 22.01.2022 The Succession building designed by Viennese architect Otto Wagner. A local told me (when I was very lost) that it’s called the golden cabbage! I love it for the intricate details. We plan to visit next week as it’s currently in between exhibitions.

21.01.2022 Lovely lilac - sweet little pollen stud earrings to make you bloom. This design is inspired by the pollen circular pattern found in the middle of a daisy and similar flowers. The pastel lilac looks lovely day or night and perfect all year round. Photo @melhillphotography

17.01.2022 I wish this was me in isolation, lying around drinking wine and listening to music. Instead, I’m on the countdown in my studio as I finish my porcelain birds for an up & coming exhibition @cornerstoregallery in April. It will be a virtual exhibition and my birds are happy to nest till we go live with an online catalogue. So watch this space as I reveal processes in the making of my little, white porcelain birds xx @ Hofburg Wien: Kaiserappartements | Sisi Museum | Silberkammer The Corner Store Gallery

15.01.2022 Reminiscing & focusing on nicer things. This is one of the many fancy rooms @stift_klosterneuburg where Adam and I took a grand tour of its 900 year history. Theses tall ceramic objects are in fact kilns designed to heat the rooms. They generally were kept in the back corridors where servants would stoke them up with wood and not be seen as a vent would release the heat. They are now on display to show how beautiful they were. I’d have one if I could afford it...also I’d need a taller roof! Swipe for some more photos. @ Stift Klosterneuburg

15.01.2022 One of my little birds available @cornerstoregallery in Orange as part of a gallery swap with @galleryofsmallthingscbr in Canberra. These birds are made from Australian porcelain through a slip casting method and pierced to let the light through and show off their pattern.

14.01.2022 Ooh! It’s Saturday night already and time to glam up again whether going out or staying in. This is Raspberry Rose a new colour in the popular pollen series. I love the colour as it reminds me of rose wine, fresh raspberries, red Christmas decorations (wait till you see a future post and you’ll see why!) and so much more. You can buy these @galleryofsmallthingscbr in person Thursdays to Sundays, 11am to 4pm or online anytime. Go to their shop on the website to see them along with other fancy smancy artworks!! Stay safe everyone xx

10.01.2022 Architecture, colours and lines influence my patterns too. While I create my pollen range based on the daisy family, I also think about colour to add to the growing collection. This Lapis Blue is one of the many sources of inspiration from my trip to Washington back in 2016. I didn’t know then that it would leave a mark on me and appear in my work later on. Being an artist is so satisfying and I’m grateful to have experienced moments like these.

10.01.2022 St Stephens Cathedral - a popular icon associated with Vienna. The only thing I liked was the exterior with its beautifully restored tiles. The patterns, colours of minty green, pastel yellow and surrounded by royal blue skies remind me of my pollen range. With names like minty macron, hello honey and lapis lulu we can’t wait for you to try on our new colours!

10.01.2022 I’ve been a little quiet of late - more so with my ceramics practice. But very excited to see my new birds heading to Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre as part of the 2020 Members exhibition. The theme is care. As most of you know I love my birds and I care about their habitat. After the bushfires, I decided to emphasise their fragility through the piercing of their pattern. This time they have many holes to show they too have lost their homes from fires, drought and smoke. However, there is light out there for them as we see many birds return or find new homes. Hop over to Craft ACT’s website to find out more info. Exhibition opens 29 October and closes 12 December. Photo Mel Hill Photography

09.01.2022 This is a poem I wrote about my little birds. The poem is inspired by making process. Making one bird takes about 24 stages from making the slip from a slab of clay to the final moment of polishing. It takes patience, care and knowledge to create these birds again and again. It’s a very meditative process involving my hands and constantly nurturing their shape to come to life. My Nana’s handkerchief is part of the process protecting them while dry. I made a YouTube video to share on my website and a virtual exhibition for @thecornerstoregallery so visit my website ampmceramics.co to speed date the making of my birds .

08.01.2022 Detail of my porcelain birds exhibiting @craft.act as part of their annual Members Show. There are only two left. So pop on in soon, as perfect for gift giving whether for a loved one or simply for you . Special event in conjunction with @designcanberrafeatival Photo by @melhillphoto

07.01.2022 This beautiful image from @botanicaetcetera is ‘part of an antique Japanese screen featuring quails and grasses, Artist unknown’. I love the gold which seems to be like a golden honey. The colour that has inspired my new hello honey pollen jewellery range. If you are in Canberra pop in this Wednesday 20 Nov for a special after hours shopping @galleryofsmallthingscbr . My range will be available to purchase in person from 5-8pm or normal trading hours of Thursdays to Sunday’s 11am to 4pm.

06.01.2022 A gorgeous Spring day in Canberra and we are feeling very minty! This colour is new in the pollen jewellery range and the pattern is based on the daisy family. Spring on in @galleryofsmallthingscbr as they are open Thursdays to Sundays to see the jewellery range and the garden which is positively blooming with poppies, camellias, pansies, roses, irises and so much more .

05.01.2022 In case you missed this, you can now buy my bird which I donated to Clay For Australia. Contact me direct to purchase or pop in to see me at my gallery, Gallery of small things to view my birds. I’m open Thursdays to Sundays, 11am to 4pm. Here’s to helping all creatures great and small, Anne xx

01.01.2022 A little bit of modern and classic Viennese ceramics @schlossladl (Sisi Museum). Adam and I have been to a lot of museums around the world checking out porcelain, silverware and so much more. This little section is deceptive as once you start it becomes endless rooms of of items from the imperial court household of what was required to host ceremonial dinners and events for the Habsburg monarchy. This is only a few of the many photos I took...so much more...next posting I promise! Oh! And unusual discovery of the sanitary porcelain (last photo). No explanation required... @ Hofburg Wien: Kaiserappartements | Sisi Museum | Silberkammer

01.01.2022 Hello Honey! Let it glow in Prague. I clearly love yellow & gold hence the inspiration behind my gold pollen jewellery range. Whether I’m in Canberra or Europe it’s golden sunsets that make me love what I do - traveling, making and reliving. Stay safe everyone xx
