24.01.2022 On this day, the 15th of October in 1970, Melbourne's West Gate Bridge collapsed, claiming the life of 35 workers. The event remains the most catastrophic workp...lace disaster in Australia's history. Please join us as we remember those workers who didn't come home to their families, and reflect on how the impact of the event is still felt across Australia to this day.

15.01.2022 State Secretary Tony Mavromatis has written to Prime Minister Scott Morrison to help save regional jobs. 150 regional jobs are under threat with more likely to come as General Electric looks to Vietnam over local manufacturer Keppel Prince to construct wind towers for the second stage of the Murra Warra wind farm project. The federal governments recent budget has made commitments to Australian manufacturing and Australian workers, but where's the action? Keppel Prince provides the government with a great opportunity to act on this rhetoric and save regional jobs!

11.01.2022 CALLING ALL APPRENTICES! On Monday we will be holding an online mass meeting to help KEEP OUR APPRENTICES ON THE TOOLS! More information can be found below

07.01.2022 Solidarity with our comrades north of the border ! AMWU members at Mesh & Bar (Sydney) are out on strike for two weeks! They’re fighting for better pay and overtime conditions. Mesh & Bar workers are paid less than other workers in their industry, and they’ve had enough. They want to be treated with respect and paid fairly for the work they do. If you wish to show your support for these striking members, AMWU NSW & ACT have set up a donations page via GoFundMe. To donate click here https://gf.me/u/y59zjw

04.01.2022 Due to the current COVID restrictions, it is impossible to put on the much-loved, Building Unions' Picnics this year. However, building workers have worked hard all year, and you have earned the day off and it’s your entitlement to be paid. Given that there is no formal picnic, there won’t be any tickets or proof of attendance required. If any employer withholds pay or deducts your pay for Monday 7th December, contact your organiser immediately.

03.01.2022 Another great regional win for our members, this time at GrainCorp! Pay increase of 10% over three years, including back pay. Improved consultation process. A review and consultation over the Vehicle GPS Systems.... This is in light of a bumper harvest system and the AWU agreeing to 1-year rollover deal with a 2% increase for its members. Once again, it proves that if members take action they can achieve results.

03.01.2022 A great WIN has come out of Bendigo this weekend! After 10 days of industrial action AMWU, ETU and UWU members have voted YES on their new agreement. Some of the highlights include: 3.6% wage increase over the next 2 years with the final 9 months of the agreement sitting at 2.9%.... An increase of almost 30% to permanent jobs on-site with many causal workers to be immediately converted. A conversion clause that guarantees permanent jobs for future generations to come. A commitment to Bendigo’s future with secure permanent jobs, a public commitment that Lactalis will not shut the site and a $20 million investment for the Bendigo factory. This has been a significant change for the workers at Lactalis after years of sub-par agreements they've finally gotten what they deserve. This is what a united front can deliver!
