25.01.2022 As we prepare to welcome visitors back the Dandenong Ranges, it’s important we understand what our new normal entails. If you are a Streeton based hospitality business owner this ones for you. Find out more from Yarra Ranges Business here:

24.01.2022 Championing efforts that build a sustainable Yarra Ranges Council is something I am really passionate about. The Liveable Climate Plan has started some of this vital work and if elected in October, I am eager to continue on with these efforts. I’m committed to working with community and businesses to ensure we are taking the appropriate measures to invest in a clean energy future. The council has a plan that has set clear targets that define success. This way can measure our ...progress, budget accordingly and adjust to ensure meaningful action is achieved. Some of these targets include: A Reduction of emissions by 60% by 2025. Transitioning all council services and infrastructure to 100% renewable energy by 2030. Net zero emissions by 2040 and Zero opperational energy by 2040. Over the past few months, I’ve connected with many engaged locals who are also committed to building a sustainable Yarra Ranges. From war on waste advocates, conservationists, solar experts and recycling enthusiasts, its clear to me this is an issue people deeply care about. If elected in October, it will be my great privilege to collaborate with locals, businesses, fellow councillors, officers and the CEO to ensure we are meeting these important targets. You can read the Liveable Climate Plan here: https://www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au//Yarra-Ranges-Liveable-

23.01.2022 Just a quick shout out to all my lovely volunteers who have been pounding the pavement for me over the past week. Letter boxing is one of the few campaign activity’s allowed in stage 4 restrictions. It’s been so lovely to connect with people who want to dedicate their two hour exercise window to my campaign. So grateful to have this community behind me. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone in person when restrictions ease

22.01.2022 Stage 4 restrictions mean candidates need to adhere to appropriate safe campaigning guidelines. This means I’ll be on a Zoom call every night this week, meeting and engaging with community groups I’d otherwise connect with face to face. Thanks to Paul and Heath from Mountain Men for the chat tonight. Talking men’s health and well-being with two lovely blokes was a pretty great way to spend a Tuesday evening. If elected in October, it will be a pleasure work with council to promote what these guys are about. If you aren’t across what Mountain Men offer, I suggest you check out their Facebook.

21.01.2022 Now that the election is on more people’s radar I’m starting to connect with more locals. Understandably people want to know where I stand on a range of issues and one that is coming up a lot is environmental policy. I could list my credentials as a volunteer and community-minded conservationist but I think offering an explanation on how I’d approach the job is far more meaningful. I would argue any councillor who is successful in October cannot represent the community witho...ut having an understanding of local conservation issues and the overall challenge climate change presents to communities like ours. Having grown up in the Yarra Ranges, now teaching and raising my daughter here, I value how special the natural environment is. I grew up watching a great many people work hard to protect what makes the Dandenongs special. As your councillor I would work hard to protect their legacy whilst appropriately investing in the growth of our community. I think the Yarra Ranges council does an excellent job in this area. Council departments and council officers do great work. These departments are staffed with professionals who are experts in environment and sustainability and it would be my job to work with them. Collaborating with community to create a more sustainably focused council, one that invests in local jobs, business and a green future, will be the goal. If you would like to know more about about me and my candidacy in the lead up to voting period, please continue to reach out- [email protected]

19.01.2022 Since it’s inception I’ve been a volunteer educator with the Platypus Education Group. Through PEG, we run an ambassador program where kids as young as 8 participate in conservation activities that make a huge difference in sustaining our local platypus population. Spot it, snap it, bin it is an initiative championed by these young people and is something we fiercely practice in our house. If you come into contact with non biodegradable plastics like rubber bands, milk rin...gs or soft drink packaging make sure you: Spot it Snip it Bin it This will make a huge difference in helping our platypus population not only survive, but thrive.

19.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who has reached out to host a yard sign. I have been blown away with the level of community support and am grateful to have connected with locals who are willing to back me. As a life long local, I’m deeply connected to the community I seek to represent. Which is why you are only seeing my signs up in businesses who have want to support me and on properties of locals who have reached out. Election signage cannot be on public or council land and I think... thats appropriate. If someone has emailed or called to query one of my signs, I have immediately followed up to ensure its placement is permitted. I have approached businesses and respectfully asked. I have followed up locals who have wanted to host on their property and I’ve been knocking back well meaning supporters, who live outside the Streeton Ward. Following the rules and respecting community is who I am and how I operate. This is how I will be as a councillor. Informed, respectful and willing to work with community.

16.01.2022 Our family’s war on waste journey continues with the addition of these solid shampoo and conditioning bars from @the.organicfanatic in Olinda. I’ve been chatting a lot with locals about YR’s approach to waste management. In the last few years, we’ve seen some great community lead initiatives pop up. If elected, I’d really like to continue the work. I’d like to hear from you. What war on waste initiatives would you like to see our council adopt?

16.01.2022 THANK YOU STREETON One hour from now the polls will close. This is the end of a six month journey for me and I’m so grateful for the community-wide support I have received along the way. I eagerly await what’s next and am looking forward to a small break in the coming weeks. The initial Streeton count will occur next Thursday the 29th of October and the official results will be declared on November 13th. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s supported me on ...this journey. The decision to stand for public office wasn’t something I decided upon last minute. I felt strongly about giving my community the opportunity to get to know who I am and what I’m about. Along the way I made some meaningful connections and learned more about myself than I ever could have imagined. I’m incredibly proud at what I’ve achieved and I couldn’t have done it without the generous support of friends, family, mentors, colleagues, community members and leaders. Thank you for believing in me and donating your time to support my candidacy. It’s been an honour and privilege getting to know you. If elected next month, I look forward to collaborating with you all. For now I’m logging off to go and enjoy some overdue down time with my family. I’ll check in to update you on the count and will officially make a statement when the results are called next month. For urgent matters, please email- [email protected]

14.01.2022 Wonderful afternoon letterboxing in Montrose. Great to connect with lots of residents out making the most of this sunny Saturday. Clear take away is how much people love living here. I recently had a local say to me People move to Montrose, fall in love and never leave and I can see why. The gorgeous backdrop of Mt Dandenong, stunning nature reserves and engaging community spirit. I think I might be falling for Montrose too AM

14.01.2022 Did you know that local government candidates are required to submit a photo, a statement and complete a questionnaire? Yesterday they were officially published on the VEC website. It's a great opportunity to get across who is running and what they care about. You can read mine here:

13.01.2022 Over the past few months, I've had the privilege of getting to know the Montrose Township Group Inc. Kind, collaborative and generous with their time, they are outstanding example of what engaged community members can achieve. When I met with the MTG a few weeks back they outlined some of what is in this community vision. This vision is smart, measurable and informed by meaningful community consultation. It has taken a lot of work and I commend the very dedicated volunteers ...who made it happen. If elected in October working with dedicated community groups like the Montrose Township Group will be a priority. It is this important grassroots work that makes communities what they are and I can't wait to get to work on this vision. Please follow the Montrose Township groups efforts on facebook here:

12.01.2022 As teacher, I understand the value of play-based learning and the overall benefit it provides to a child’s well-being and development. As a parent I’m interested in how community can champion initiatives that support play-based activity. This is why I’m really passionate about playgrounds and play spaces. I’m interested in how playgrounds are designed, built and maintained. How will they serve community? Are they appropriate and safe for parents and children alike? Are they i...nclusive for families with additional needs? Do they complement and protect our natural environment? I learned a lot from the council’s 2018 report on play spaces. From this, a 10 year play space strategy was created, but there is more to do in getting regular and comprehensive community feedback. I think my perspective as a parent, teacher and regular user of these spaces will be of value. Working with the community to advocate for safer and more inclusive play spaces is something I would champion if elected in October. Find out more about the play space project here: https://www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au//Playspace-Plan-2019-20

12.01.2022 Over the course of this campaign I’ve relied heavily on the generosity of volunteers. From friends, family, colleagues and even locals I’ve never met. Volunteering their precious time because they back me, a young mum and teacher. They wanted to see change on YR council and for this I will be forever grateful. Regardless of outcome, i’m really proud of the campaign I’ve run. Powered by community and guided by integrity. I worked hard but I couldn’t have done it without support of such volunteers. These gorgeous lil treats made by Jennifer Anne's Cakes will go to everyone who hosted a sign or pounded the pavement for me. A very small token of my very big appreciation

12.01.2022 MAKE SURE YOU VOTE You have just over 24 hours to send in your vote. Anything postmarked after 6pm Friday the 23rd of October will not be counted. To avoid a fine, make sure your ballot is in the post tomorrow. Happy Voting Streeton

11.01.2022 I certainly know what Violet and I will be doing on the garden this afternoon Thanks Yarra Ranges Families what a cool activity to keep out lil ones busy and enjoining this spring weather. My moneys on a banjo frog at the bottom of our garden. So what’s at the bottom of yours?

10.01.2022 If you can’t tell by the surname, I take my pizza and pasta seriously Congrats to the whole team Tin Pan Alley Foodsmiths for this recognition. You sure are family favourite of ours and it’s been a real pleasure supporting you over the years

10.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Please indulge this art teacher for this week's throwback about ward namesake Sir Arthur Streeton. Sir Arthur Streeton was an Australian Impressionist painter known for frequenting the region to paint his masterpieces. He eventually settled in Olinda, passing away in 1923. My branding colours (olive, green and purple) are a slight nod to my favourite Streeton painting, "The Purple Noon's Transparent Might" (1896). ... Growing up in the Yarra Ranges, learning about the Heidelberg School of Artists is a rite a passage. I have such fond memories of being shown the sites the famous impressionists were active in. I grew up with a deep appreciation of how they captured the raw beauty of our Dandenongs. To this day, I still teach my students about Sir Arthur and I think its fitting I'm seeking to represent the ward that bares his name.

09.01.2022 Why would I make a good councillor? Because I'm hard working, organised and able to work to deadlines under pressure. As a primary care giver, part-time teacher and volunteer I know how to manage my time, priorise and get things done. When things change, I can pivot. When I face a challenge, I can problem solve. When things are hard, I don't back away. Heres a little something that happened this morning. It speaks to the type of work ethic I have and will continue to apply to the job, if elected in October.

09.01.2022 Letterboxing on home turf today. Quacktastic to see some new springtime additions out enjoying some sunshine too

09.01.2022 To kick off another busy week of campaign activity, I thought I'd start with a bit of fun. So, Streeton, where is the best Spoonville located? Here's one I happened upon in Montrose over the weekend. It blew me away and had me giggling all the way back to my car. I've also seen some great ones pop up on Fergurson Street and Darling Ave in Upwey, not to mention Main Street. Have you contributed to a great Spoonville in Streeton? I reckon we can get some great nominations. Post your suggestions below.

08.01.2022 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT This one goes out to all the Streeton based ice cream enthusiasts in Montrose - The Clark's Ice Cream Truck is coming your way

07.01.2022 Celebrating the Saints making the finals with some treats from Olinda Cellars. It’s a once every ten year experience , so we splurged one some celebratory beers

07.01.2022 Behind every great campaign there is a great campaign team. Here’s mine, my husband Jonathan. When I started this journey, things looked completely different but what has remained constant is Jono’s unwavering support. As a primary care giver, running for council had to be a family decision. We’ve had to be organised, make sacrifices and negotiate the care of our daughter. This is an experience I know a lot of working parents can relate to. It’s been a team effort, and will... continue to be a team effort of successful at the end of the month. So here is to my chief map man and letterboxing coordinator- I couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for cheering me on, keeping me grounded, encouraging me to delegate and take a break when required. Your apple cake from the Upwey Bakery awaits. After a morning of letterboxing, you sure have earned it

05.01.2022 COUNTING UPDATE Thanks to everyone who has reached out this week to say job well done/I voted for you/good luck. I’ve been enjoying a break off social media and will try to respond to everyone in the coming days. A quick update on the Streeton count: This year a record amount of votes were returned, meaning the Streeton count, which was due to begin today, will start tomorrow around midday. I want to thank the hard working VEC staff for their communication and professiona...lism whilst embarking on such a big task. I’ll try to keep you all updated as things evolve. For official updates in the coming days, please see the VEC website: https://www.vec.vic.gov.au//202/yarra-ranges-shire-council

03.01.2022 I'm disappointed to report I will not be the next councillor for Streeton Ward. After a tight race coming down to preferences I have fallen short and finished 3rd. The final results have not been declared and like others, I eagerly await the outcome. I decided to run for council because I wanted to see a council more reflective of community. I wanted to see more women, young people and families represented and I also wanted to change they way in which the public engage with ...their elected representatives. I'm proud of what I did because I did it with energy, enthusiasm and integrity. I was true to my values and I had a lot of fun too. I ran my race the way I wanted to be as a councillor, honest, transparent and accessible to my community. Along the way I made some meaningful community connections and worked hard to get the things I care about on the agenda. Moving forward I look forward to putting a lot of these connections to good use in the coming months- please stay tuned. Thank you to everyone who supported me. Those who donated, letterboxed, hosted a sign or simply cheered me on. I'm disappointed I won't be your councillor but I'm excited to figure out what's next. Amy

01.01.2022 Safe campaign guidelines permit letterboxing within your 2 hour exercise window. Boy did I pick a cracking day to hit up Montrose. The suns shining bright and lots of locals are out and about tending to their beautiful gardens. Big thanks to Colin and Mae, life long Montrose residents who made contact with me last week. Avid walkers, Colin and Mae offered to do some letterboxing for me. They were excited to see an energetic young parent in the mix and hope to see big changes come October. It’s locals like Colin and Mae who motivate me to keep at it and I’m grateful for their valuable contribution.
