25.01.2022 Adding fuel to the high carb vs low carb diet... A 25 yr study has revealed that people on low carb diets who replace carbs with animal products die 4 yrs earlier than those on moderate carb diet - think extra bacon, cheese, large servings of meat etc. However, swapping some of your carbs for plant based protein & fats showed benefits - think avocado, nuts, legumes etc.

23.01.2022 Why do I always suggest clients add nuts to their breakfast, salads or as a snack? This is part of the reason... This study shows a 21% lower risk of coronary heart disease (heart attack, angina) in people who ate walnuts as little as once per week. Similarly, a 15% lower risk was seen in those who ate peanuts 2 or more times per week, and 23% reduced risk for tree nuts 2 or more times per week. ... So what are you waiting for? Grab a handful* right now *a handful = 30g

15.01.2022 A new study shows that a high salt diet reduces levels of certain good bacteria in our gut, which increases inflammatory cells, causing blood pressure (BP) to rise. Weve long recommended a reduced salt diet for those with high BP as salt makes the body hold on to more fluid. This increases the volume of blood the heart needs to pump around the body, increasing BP. This higher pressure causes blood vessels to thicken & harden which can eventually lead to a full blockage or rupture causing a heart attack or stroke. This new study shows that reducing salt in the diet may have twice the benefit we once thought!
