15.01.2022 I have been dreaming about making a denim jacket out of upcycled jeans for literally ages. And, of course, have many old pairs of jeans stashed away waiting for the opportunity to continue their life as shiny new garments. After listening to this weeks @lovetosew.podcast about denim, and seeing @helens__closet's #jeanius refashioned denin dress, I decided it was time! The pattern is the medium length view of the @shopwiksten #wikstenhaori with a few mods. I halved the collar... width, drafted slanted pockets which are sewed into the collar seam, and sewed the side seam with slits at the bottom. I carefully unpicked about two and a half old jeans (one of which was a very wide leg pair of men's jeans with tonnes of usable fabric!), piecing them together for the outer. The lining is a combo of thrifted striped cotton and iron bark dyed old cotton sheet. 14.01.2022 So, I know I'm on the self-imposed-buy-no-fashion-ban, but, none of my winter shoes were giving me enough support, and after living in @birkenstock sandals over summer my body has been struggling... on my walk home from uni yesterday I stopped in at Lana Lang Shoes and picked up these beauties! 14.01.2022 I have an exam on Saturday... soooooo, yesterday I cleaned my studio and sorted alllll my fabric. I also made this pouf! It's constructed from bits of left over fabric from other projects, some old pants and other bits I'd had gifted to me over the years. The filling is all the many other fabric scraps I can never bring myself to throw away but are too small, or too worn out to use for anything else. I used an upcycled zip which had been removed from an old piece of clothing,... and the piping is a length of cord from my stash covered with bias binding. The pattern is fantastic and free!!! by Closet Case Patterns (they have a great piping tutorial as well). 12.01.2022 This retro fabric is freaking amazing, found in my mum's stash she originally had plans to make a shirt for herself back in the 80's. I made her a @marillawalker #mayatop (no photos, sorry) which left me with enough fabric to try out the #zadiejumpsuit bodice fit. Even though I lengthened the pattern at the hem by 2" it was still a little short to wear with most of my bottoms, so I added a little ruffle with the very last of the fabric. This is my first go at the #hinterlanddress by @sewliberated, made from an old cotton blend sheet handed down to me by my grandma, with odd second hand buttons from one of my button jars. I'm actually quite enjoying the white, but I'm likely to dirty it up very quickly so will probably dye it grey or black soon. 07.01.2022 My new favourite everything! Patchwork hack dress sewn using patterns by Made By Rae - the #gemmatank (cropped) for the bodice and #cleoskirt (back piece) for the skirt. The ultimate stash buster utilising fabric found in my nana's and mum's collections as well as my own. I added two belt loops into the back seam in case I feel like cinching it in with a belt and in seam pockets... although, I think they are a little low... oh well... 06.01.2022 I made another pair of #ninniculottes, and I love them! It's really not surprising that so many people have made these pants... this is my third pair, made from some new textured lyocell/linen fabric from #spotlightstores (I shouted myself some new fabrics in the boxing day sales to celebrate ONE WHOLE YEAR of not purchasing any new rtw clothing!). I sized down to a UK 12, slash pockets instead of inseam, added 5" to the length, and reduced leg width by 2" total (1" off each cut pattern peice). I'm already planning another pair in some quite lightweight black duck canvas from my stash, with added belt loops so I can dress them up with a belt if I want. This is my third #zadiejumpsuittop hack from the #zadiejumpsuit pattern by @paper_theory. I just squeezed it out what remained of the cotton gauze from my last #ninniculottes make. Size 16, bodice lengthened by 1" at the shorten/lengthen line, and 4" at the hem.
