24.01.2022 The children helped measure and pour the ingredients for our play dough into the thermo bowl: flour, water, oil, salt, cream of tartar and colouring. The children had a big run and crawl outside while it was mixed together and came back inside after 5 minutes for a play with the nice new soft play dough.
24.01.2022 The children are so excited ! The clouds have parted and the sun is out, YAY.. Let's go crazy and run around in circles, squeal and giggle !
24.01.2022 S E N S O R Y P L A Y || This morning the children enjoyed a different kind of sensory play, inspired by water beads. (Traditionally used in flower vases) We used pearl cous cous with water and food colouring so it was non toxic. The children spent 20 minutes weaving their hands through the squishy little beads. 'I'm mixing' said S. 'Drip drop drip drop falling rain' said S, as she slowly let them fall from her fingers.
22.01.2022 Today for craft we did some finger / hand painting. We used the three primary colours with some rice sprinkled on top for a contradicting texture to the soft gooey paint. The children all reacted differently to the sensation on their hands but once they were used to it enjoyed it thoroughly and created some beautiful artworks.
22.01.2022 S P R I N G is here. We took advantage of the beautiful and colourful flora in our yard by using leaves and flowers as painting utensils. We mixed some primary colours to create similar colours to what we can see in our yard. The patterns created by the children were intricate and beautiful and look very effective on the paper.
21.01.2022 In preparation for today's hot weather, Amy had made some yummy ice blocks for the children. They loved their little afternoon treat. (Watermelon, strawberries, mint, chia seeds and coconut water)
19.01.2022 H A P P Y 1ST B I R T H D A Y to Amy's family day care. What a great year it's been. We've watched the little bubbas grow into toddlers, made new friends and discovered lots of new things.
19.01.2022 Learning through play.
19.01.2022 The children are loving exploring the dress ups today! Developing their self help skills as they are independently putting on hats, jewelry, scarves and handbags and only needing assistance with the clothing. They're so excited to explore what our dress up basket has to offer.
17.01.2022 One of our friends went to the beach yesterday and loved finding exciting things on the grass and sand that had fallen from the trees. Thanks for bringing them in to show your friends. We put them in the shell and the children liked feeling the different textures of the pine cones, driftwood and the spiky sticks. The children sat around the shell and were using the different objects to create drum sounds on the edge of the shell, they had a great time: banging the sticks and laughing together.
17.01.2022 The children have used some thin brushes to paint dots and strokes onto brown paper bags. We stuck them together and made a snake to add to our indigenous wall. The children were able to use the Aboriginal paintings as inspiration for their artworks. (Learning outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world)
16.01.2022 Keeping cool while the children have the absolute time of their lives. Lots of giggling, squealing, splashing, laughing and singing. Love moments like this.
15.01.2022 Sipping on some home-made ice blocks. Kiwi, lime and coconut water. Keeping cool and hydrated on this stinker of a day!
12.01.2022 Amy's family day care has some availabilities coming up, please private message if you are interested. Thanks :)
12.01.2022 This morning we put some water in the pool. The children gathered around and were playing and splashing in the cold water as we waited for the sun to warm it up a little bit. Once the water had the 'edge' taken off the children hopped in there swimmers and jumped in. They had so much fun splashing and kicking their legs as they cooled off.
11.01.2022 We had a fun sensory experience this morning. We played with some shaving cream and paint on the table, we spread it all around and felt the soft foam on our hands and in between our fingers. It was very squishy.
10.01.2022 As a follow up on our play dough experience the children enjoyed playing with the dough on our new table. We incorporated elements from the garden and outside. The children used small and large leaves and flowers and created little mini gardens.
08.01.2022 We practiced our threading today with some string and some pasta.. The children were really concentrating as they threaded the penne on. Sometimes they needed some help and we're happy to ask for it. Once the children had finished they were so proud to model their work. This afternoon we are going to work together to colour some pasta for next week.
05.01.2022 We had a lovely morning at Camelia Gardens, we walked down together and had a lovely play in the park, where we met some new friends. We stopped by at the pond on our way back and fed the ducks, we used some yummy bread that we had baked together. Such a fun morning.
03.01.2022 This morning we went on an excursion to Camellia Gardens in Caringbah. The children were so excited to see the ducks and Ibis and throw them some bread. We all walked across the bridge and watched the birds underneath us, and we had a fun play in the park, we met some new friends, slid down the slide and chased some bubbles.
03.01.2022 On Friday we made some healthy and very yummy banana and avocado bread. The children helped to measure the ingredients out and place it in the thermomix bowl. We cheated a little bit and had the thermomix stir it all for us, but within seconds we had a nice smooth dough that was placed into a loaf tin and into the oven. We had some yummy warm banana and avocado bread with soft butter for afternoon tea.
