24.01.2022 This is one reason I tell parents I won’t teach piano before 7... they’re not developmentally ready physically or mentally for the practice! So we play games! Dance! Sing! Keep the beat etc. :) let kids be kids for as long as they can. Come join our music classes (when I finish maternity leave) designed specifically for each age 0-6 that gets them ready for piano...but is so much fun they won’t even realise how much they’re learning (and you!)

22.01.2022 Introducing our son to the Pop-Up animals for the first time - he sang (well, oooh) and out they popped! These are NEW puppets and no one’s seen them as they arrived after he was born come join our classes in Term 4 to see what they do! (And did you know that he’s actually older than when my babies start? You can start at 6 weeks - he’s already 12 ) To do: Encourage that singing by copying the noises they make, it’s how they’re learn what they doing!

21.01.2022 Can you believe my littlest one is 12 weeks old tomorrow! Where has that time gone? That does mean good news for you - you’ll be seeing me soon :) not just yet... I’m going to soak in all the squishy cuddles while I can!! Come September piano will be back, Ukulele Workshops start of October and 0-6 year classes for Term 4 (registrations in September.) Watch this space for Ukulele Workshop Early Bird tickets in the coming months!

19.01.2022 Practical and engaging workshop for easy ideas to use in the classroom on a daily basis. Ashleigh R., Swan Valley Anglican Great fun, so much practical, useful information to re-inspire music education in our classrooms. Deb THIS SATURDAY. *last chance until Term 4* Registration ends TOMORROW at 3pm. All educators welcome.... What exactly is covered in these workshops? Part A is for those who haven’t attended before. We’ll be covering all the basics of music (based off the curriculum) but giving you lots of different, simple NEW ideas to easily put into your programs daily. Let’s look at the why, how & what as well as the mechanics behind music so we can be intentional about it. Lots of laughter & hands-on participation guaranteed. Part C is for everyone (once you’ve completed Part A) and continues on with more ideas, going into greater detail. Heads up: in one part of the session we’re going to be looking at designing our own songs in class - using cups! As well as how to design a fun, interesting performance for family and friends that’s fresh and new (and not just one song!) There’s so much to learn this Saturday 15th from 9.30am-3.30pm at Mt Hawthorn Baptist. I would love to see you there and please bring along your staff members as there are a few spots available (don't forget EA's also get 30% off.) If you’re busy - change your plans! There are no more workshops until the end of the year! Bookings & Details: www.musicstudio.com.au/workshops

19.01.2022 It’s on THIS WEEKEND. *This is the last chance until Term 4* Come & be inspired for 2020! What exactly will be covered in these workshops? 14.01.2022 The post may be about homeschooling but the premise is the same... every student is unique. Just because they show up to be taught doesn’t mean they’re going to learn. My job is to get them interested & engage them! No one lesson is the same, even though the program is the same. I teach that day according to the student and where their heads at. Yet another reason I love teaching with a personal side :)

13.01.2022 One of my ex-students visited today and brought beautiful flowers! I haven’t taught her in about 4 years but we have remained friends. We talk about kids, her grandkids, God, life and everything under the sun. She is a prime reason why I LOVE teaching. It’s not just business...it’s personal. My favourite part is building connections with each family (not just student) that walks in the door. I look forward to seeing more of you soon!!

12.01.2022 DON’T GIVE UP. Have you ever caught yourself saying, oh they just don’t like karate after attending one lesson or they don’t like piano after one day or we’ll try one class and see if they like it? It takes at LEAST 3 goes at something to even grasp what’s going on. Kids (and adults!) learn like this: First time: observation Second time: familiarisation ... Third time: participation For a lot of kids they need a bit more of this as well because the 4th/5th/6th time is where they feel COMFORTABLE and actually know what’s going on or what’s expected of them. Don’t give up. You need to persist for at least 3 lessons/games/tries at that new toy. It’s why we make sure our songs are shown 3 weeks in a row in music class! It’s also why I encourage a free trial class to meet me (and see if you like me ) but then get you to pay by the term... your child needs that time Don’t give up yourselves either when you’re trying a new thing keep at it... get comfortable with it... then decide if you like it!
