25.01.2022 Today we said goodbye to our longest standing family day care member Charlie, we have loved all the adventures we have had over the last three years, watching you grow and learning with you. We will always cherish your wonderful friendship. We wish you all the best on your adventures into big school!

23.01.2022 A very important lesson that our preschoolers have been learning! In general, toddlers and young children believe they are the centre of the world and that everything belongs to them. If another child is not giving them a toy that they want they view those actions as unfair. We have been working hard on asking 'can I have a turn when you're finished?' With some prompting the children are beginning to pick up on this way of asking for a turn and are responding well to sharing when they are ready.

22.01.2022 Celebrating Kierra's 7th birthday with a nail painting party!

22.01.2022 This week we are Palaeontologists! Yesterday the children were digging in the garden finding dinosaur eggs and cooking dinosaur egg and dirt soup. Today we went on an exploration, 'hey guys, do you want to dig fossils?' Logan asked. Ollie and Logan used small sticks to flick rocks out of the ground. 'I think it's a T-Rex egg!' Henry shouted when Ollie found an egg shell. ... Charlie found a dinosaur leg bone, Logan found a head, or maybe a body, Ollie and Henry both found arms. Charlie found a special rock, 'its a volcano rock! When the lava is cold it gets hard and turns to a rock!' 'Or maybe its a dinosaur egg?' Suggested Henry. When we got home Logan and Ollie used our bush treasures to create some wonderful dinosaur sculptures. See more

21.01.2022 This morning on the way to playgroup Ollie called out, 'What's that green thing!?' We stopped and saw a beautiful Christmas beetle, as we looked around we saw that there were 6 beetles. We stayed and watched them moving around and looked at all the beautiful colours. Most of them were green, yellow and orange, then we saw a big brown one as we were getting ready to leave. I carefully picked one up so we could have a closer look and told the children how tickly its feet were..., they all very gently touched its hard shell but didn't want it on their hands. The children all made lots of observations and had so many questions to ask. We had to do some research! 'Maybe they sleep at night.' Said Ollie 'or it might glow in the dark like our blocks!' On the way home we had a look to see what the Christmas beetles were doing but we could only find one 'it's burying itself!' Said Charlie as he spotting the beetle digging down into the roots of the grass. Then we spotted another one balancing on the grass seeds at the top of a piece of grass, we watched it swinging between two pieces and using all its legs to help it balance. 'I think it's eating that yummy grass seed.' Said Oliver. Henry wondered, 'could it climb trees.' We decided with its sticky legs it probably could! We came home and watched some videos about Christmas beetles and saw one climbing a tree! We learned that Christmas beetles lay their eggs under ground and live there as white larvae for about a year. Charlie, 'maybe that one we saw was digging to lay eggs! They are the white worms we saw in your garden.' We found out that Christmas beetle have wings hiding under their hard shell and thought maybe the noisy insect we saw fly past was a Christmas beetle too. The children decided to play a Christmas beetle game, Charlie pulled a blanket over himself and Ollie 'Henry you be the beetle and me and Ollie are the eggs underground.' They happily hatched out and joined Henry on a search for snacks. See more

19.01.2022 We have been very excited over the past couple of weeks to watch the house across the road being demolished and taken away in lots and lots of truck loads last week! Yesterday we had some very excited children when we realised the digger was being loaded onto the trailer as we were heading to playgroup! We stayed and watched how carefully the driver had to steer up the ramps and watched the workers secure the bucket and tracks in place. Looking forward to seeing what happens to the block.

15.01.2022 Goodness, I love this

14.01.2022 Spotted lots more Christmas beetles today and noticed all the different colours, including a purple one, which Abigale was very excited to see! The children were a little more confident today and carefully let them crawl on their hands and jumpers. We noticed that their feet were very sticky! Especially when we tried to take a big one off Logan's jumper and it was sooo stuck. They didn't like Ollie's leather jacket though and kept sliding down his sleeve.

09.01.2022 Book Week 2020 saw some wonderfully curious creatures visiting us! We shared some new stories and explored some old favourites through our play stations. Tea with some tigers, digging dinosaurs and lots of fine motor practice decorating brooms and wands for the witches!

08.01.2022 You only get one shot at childhood so make it a magical one! Fill you little ones love tanks with awe, wonder, curiosity, time, space, laughter, smiles, hugs, joy, imagination, creativity, nature, encouragement and FUN! Soak it all up & enjoy the ride!

08.01.2022 Let the children speak. Let them think. Let them wonder. Sometimes you might have to be a bit silent. Don’t ask too many questions. But, don’t ignore. It’s a balance and you will know what feels right when you feel the wonder take over!

06.01.2022 School holiday fun! A trip to the library, pizza party at the park, watching the diggers and a sleepy movie!

03.01.2022 Lots of watery fun on a hot day! Arlo quickly showed the children how to fold the hose so the sprays got small and the children delighted in holding it until there was no water coming out then letting go and watching the water spray high! Henry loked waiting until the children were looking really close at the water dribbling out then letting go so they got all wet! Ollie enjoyed collecting water in the bowls and tubs and was interested in the sound the water made hitting the metal bowl. Abigale didn't want to get too wet but was having fun playing Peek-a-boo in the shade tent. Louie was cautious of the water to begin with then had a splash and a play on the now water slide!
