20.01.2022 Usually #InternationalWomensDay for me consists of a series of corporate events with inspirational speakers where I walk away feeling empowered and I love it. But if Ive brutally honest I feel a little guilty that I should be doing more for the cause. This year, due to a series of misfortunes, poor planning and the chaos of life, I didnt attend an event and was feeling a little down. But still I kicked off the day with some great friends.... and my crazy kids as I didnt ha...ve child care. We talked career, kids, health, relationships, renovations, future nights out and of course the toilet paper shortage - nothing off limits! I followed it up with school drop off, a chat with a friend/ coach about safe guarding biz for economic downturns, Skype meeting, washing, wrote a presentation in a McDonalds play ground whilst my 3 year old played, ate a sneaky cheeseburger, had a skin spot cut out, school pick up and did a little more work. The result is Im feeling pretty empowered, inspired and all round reflective. I feel that it was fitting for the theme of IWD 2020 - #EachforEqual! "Each of us are responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge the stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate womens achievements". I feel I did that today with a great bunch of ladies and that continuing to take steps each and every day, individually but collectively, even if small, equality will be achieved.
