21.01.2022 Mixed media artwork, 'Doodle with Eyes'. Pen and ink, watersoluble pen and paint pens.

21.01.2022 For the #faceyourartchallenge I've compiled a selection of faces I've drawn/painted over the years. To me this highlights what I already knew - I'm the kind of artist who 'can't sit still' in terms of settling on one media or style. Sometimes I think this is a bit of disadvantage - as far as becoming a successful artist goes. They always told us at art school we had to 'find our style'. By now I've learnt - that's not my thing. First and foremost, I want to keep myself amused! Hopefully I get to amuse a few others in the process

21.01.2022 3 more sketches of @missjessileighxx from an online session of @gaylifedrawingmelb, 3 different media. In the first I used a felt-tipped pen, in the second a graphite pencil, and in the third a watersoluble brush pen. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

21.01.2022 Sounds of the Maribyrnong River

20.01.2022 $20 off purchase over $60 for anyone who wants to try out Redbubble, a website that supports visual artists by giving people a chance to purchase their art on a variety of different products with profits going to artists. I have some art on this site too at: https://www.redbubble.com/people/AnaHanson/shop Although if you use this voucher you certainly don't need to purchase from my shop, there are a lot of great artist's to explore!

19.01.2022 Because sometimes you just want to make a strange little drawing and turn it into a strange little pattern! Pen and ink and digital art.

19.01.2022 Art masks for sale at Redbubble. This one is from an original oil painting of a surreal alien-like scene that popped into my mind one day. Check out my redbubble profile at: https://www.redbubble.com/people/AnaHanson/shop Stay safe Melbourne

18.01.2022 Pencil drawing of @pistolina_burlesque posing as Pennywise from Stephen King's 'It'. Another fabulous collaborative creative night from @abbotsfordlifedrawing via zoom.

17.01.2022 Another portrait of @archiearsenic from @gaylifedrawingmelb Zoom session. I used watersoluble brush pen and some ink for this one

17.01.2022 This piece is called 'Doodle With Heart and Eyes'. The title says it all really! Just a few abstract shapes and motifs, somewhat inspired by graffiti-style art, tattoos and a love of doodling. Paint pens and Pen and ink.

15.01.2022 Another mixed media artwork of @laetitia_channel_model from last week's Zoom session with @abbotsfordlifedrawing. Got experimental with mixing a few media in this one including pen and ink, watercolour, guache and paint pens.

15.01.2022 I guess the mentality of 'covid normal' is finally sinking in, as evident in the fact I've put some art on some masks. If you have to go through a pandemic, why not do it in style? https://www.redbubble.com/people/AnaHanson/shop

13.01.2022 A few more quick sketches from @abbotsfordlifedrawing's Zoom session where we were very lucky to get some amazing poses from yoga instructor, artist and model @laetitia_channel_model. Pen and ink. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

11.01.2022 A sketch from @abbotsfordlifedrawing Zoom session featuring @laetitia_channel_model. Created with watersoluble pen and a little bit of digital touch-up.

11.01.2022 What do you get when you cross Pennywise from 'It' with Burlesque & bring it to the Melbourne life drawing community? An amazing Zoom session from @abbotsfordlifedrawing featuring @pistolina_burlesque. Created this one with pencil and guache.

10.01.2022 My 2020 entry for the @archibaldprize at the @artgalleryofnsw. This portrait is of my dear friend, and person I admire greatly- Tina Y, @tina_tra_y. The Archibald prize was put on hold this year due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, a truly historical moment in the history of this famous portrait prize. There have been lots of controversial moments during the Archibald's history though, such as in 2004 when Craig Ruddy won with his drawing of actor David Gulpilil. Yes I said 'd...rawing', in a painting prize! I think the judges argued that the artist had 'painted' with the drawing medium of charchoal... I can dig that, it was a great artwork Even more shocking- in 1964 no prize was awarded as the judges deemed none of the entrants to meet a worthy enough standard for the prize! So, it wouldn't be the Archibald without some surprises. I'm looking forward to seeing the selected artworks this year, and wondering how or if the pandemic may have found its way into the artworks. It has found its way into mine... though you will only know how if I get selected and have to make an artist's statement See more

09.01.2022 Another pencil drawing of @missjessileighxx from an online @gaylifedrawingmelb session.

09.01.2022 Mixed media artwork from @abbotsfordlifedrawing Zoom session featuring the amazing @laetitia_channel_model from Barcelona. I used pen and ink, watercolour and guache on this one.

08.01.2022 Another drawing from last week's @abbotsfordlifedrawing Zoom session featuring @laetitia_channel_model from Barcelona. Pen and ink, guache and watercolour.

08.01.2022 Pencil drawing of @missjessileighxx from an online drawing session with @gaylifedrawingmelb. It can be very enjoyable to get back to the basics. To make art you don't need anything more than a pencil, paper and something or someone draw.

07.01.2022 This is a sketch of @chiara_lifemodel, I drew at a 'family catchup' with @abbotsfordlifedrawing. Host @jl_syndikas_art kindly invited us to have lunch and chat with a short drawing session afterwards. Boy I've missed those conversations with other artists at various life drawing sessions around melbourne during these almost 6 months of lockdown. It was just lovely to see familiar faces and have a laugh. Thanks JL, for helping keep our community together during these times

06.01.2022 In this artwork 'Return to the Ocean', I explored different mediums and styles. I think the 'art world' often choses to ignore movements such street art, tattoo art, illustration and styles that are considered 'lowbrow', although so much creativity and technical skill can be found in these areas. I'm similarly interested in traditional areas of art like portraiture, landscape and still life, and I hope in my art that I can find a way to incorporate all these influences. In 'Return to the Ocean' I used as a reference work from my photographer friend @tina_tra_y and an absurdist pose from illustrator @pixbyrichard. Mixed media using pencil, charcoal, watersoluble pen, pen and ink and paint pens.

03.01.2022 I haven't done a landscape paiting for a while although I thoroughly enjoyed creating this art piece 'By the Maribyrnong River'. I used acrylics and enamel paint.

03.01.2022 An amazing session with @abbotsfordlifedrawing featuring @pistolina_burlesque as 'Pennywise' from 'It'....fun and freaky! Media: pencil and guache paint

01.01.2022 I made this digital variant of my artwork 'Doodles with Hearts and Eyes', a sketch made with Paint pens and Pen and ink. I've also put this one up on: https://www.redbubble.com/people/AnaHanson/shop
