There are so many terms floating around for hair techniques - balayage, foilayage, money piece, root tap, color meltwhat do they all mean?!... Let’s start with balayage since that’s a popular question we get from clients in our chairs! The word balayage actually comes from the French word balai which means broom and balayer which is the verb of that meaning ‘to broom’ or brooming. Which if you’ve ever had a balayage done makes total sense! When we balayage we are sweeping our color brush over the hair to create a gradual, seamless blend! 03.01.2022 Foiling is an artform we all enjoy very much and all excel in. We get questions all the time about the difference between balayage and foiling. Balayage is applied in a freehand manner to achieve a natural sunkissed look, we apply the color in a feathered motion. Whereas foiling involves us sectioning off parts of the hair with large or small foil weaves to create your dream look. Why foil? It conducts heat which allows the product to infiltrate the hair, while also separating the treated hair from the untreated hair. Cool eh?
